1976 Letter

1976 Letter To Premies

Premies, I feel that it is about time that we all get synchronized, because if we don't, your services will be totally unusable by me. You see, we are all part of the same thing. You know, I don't get too much of a chance to write these letters. In 1976, I will again be touring the world, visiting the United States, Latin America, South Africa, Europe and the Far East. And so, I really hope you take this letter to heart and really come together for the sake of this drowning world. Then I, through the organization, can help this world, because I tell you this world can sure use it! I hope you understand my message.

Understanding

Understanding Guru Maharaj Ji's Satsang at a surprise visit at the Sunday Community Meeting in Denver, 7 December 1975

It's like, by Guru Maharaj Ji's grace, I work. I work in the office whenever I get a chance. And to every premie who is working in the office and every premie who is working in the ashram - I mean, that may be the housemother to the janitor or any premie who is working anywhere -it's a big mystery, "What am I doin?" But it's not a mystery. This is what I want to explain to you, that it's no mystery. It's no mystery whatsoever. It's just a very simple thing. We are all trying to understand that we are trying to pass this realization that we have had, by Guru Maharaj Ji's grace, to the other people who have not had this realization. This is why we have such a big organization.

Oops

Somehow I had missed the real dedication of Guru Maharaj Ji even though it was right before my eyes: Guru Maharaj Ji gave 64 programs in 1974, Maharaj Ji held 5 festivals in 1975, and this year he plans to tour the world again, visiting more countries than ever before.

Now, together, very carefully and very consciously -because usually when you confront these parts, it's what you call freaking out; when like one of these parts is turning up its volume and going 00000hhhh … what's this? I don't understand this one - But in these workshops we just pay full attention to these parts without calling it "freaking out." We call it workshop, because we put our parts on the table to work on them; without taking them too seriously, but on the other hand also not just saying, "That's the mind; all we have to do is give satsang to each other." We just take these parts of each other that are in doubt about Knowledge and put them on the table and get rid of them.

Mr A and Mr B Guru Maharaj Ji's Satsang, 19 December 1975

So when Mr. A goes out to the street and confuses Mr. B, that's the consequence. If you are that spaced out, if you are not synchronized, and if you do not have the proper understanding, you can confuse this world.

Unity

But look at it. Where do we sit today? We are totally confused, we are totally lost. And so Guru Maharaj Ji's motive, why he even comes into this world, is so that he can take humanity back. It's like you are driving and all of a sudden all four wheels are on your left side. They are not distributed the way they are supposed to be. So what Guru Maharaj Ji's purpose in this world is is to come and take those wheels back where they belong, so that the proper balance can be created, which will provide the car with maximum maneuverability, which a car needs in this world, in this darkness.

Surprise Satsang Durga Ji gave this satsang at the Sunday Community Meeting in Denver, Colorado on 7 December 1975

It's important for us to be really, really clear so that this incredible energy that Maharaj Ji has can flow through us. Maharaj Ji plays with the stereo for hours, or he gets into a car and drives really fast. He does these things, and it's becoming really obvious that he's just bursting. It's like he's holding back so much. And why is he holding back? Because the instruments that he has are not ready to take it. You know what I mean? We're not really clear enough to have him pour through us.

But still, out of the 9,000 premies who attended Hans Jayanti in Orlando, only 2,500 are in AMP. That leaves 6,500 premies, all of whom are dedicated enough to Maharaj Ji to come to a festival, who could become active members if the understanding existed. Yet among those 6,500 premies, the average contribution to Guru Maharaj Ji's mission during 1975 was roughly $75 per year per person. This is less than the cost of a cup of coffee per day. Another 21c per day from these same premies could generate another $500,000 per year and easily offset our current operating deficit. Obviously there's an incredible potential, but until each premie comes to an understanding of why he should support Maharaj Ji's Mission, it remains untapped.

Miscellaneous

Because the premies have the "basics," now we can begin to do some introspection. Maharaj Ji said: "Everybody came together and looked at everybody's faces and said, 'Okay, we've been doing this service for three years, what are we really supposed to do?' "

Cookbook For Sharing Understanding

If we're really going to share any understanding between us, we're going to have to work together and try to get to a deeper level of our own human interaction. When you sit down with someone and try to arrive at an understanding together, you may find it isn't as easy as it might seem. A simple question, what is Knowledge?, may take two of you an hour of sorting through conflicting ideas and concepts before you can come to any underlying meaning. in talking together, you may discover that there area number of obstacles to overcome before you can begin communicating on a more real level.

Guru Maharaj Ji's Address To World Leaders

The leaders of this human race must not limit their perspective if they are to have the understanding necessary to meet the challenges of these difficult times. In 1976, not only in America, but all over the world, we must call upon people to re-examine how we are to achieve our ideals. And, most importantly, in the full awareness of our future life on this planet we must decide what is our goal, what is the aim of life.
