Guru Maharaj Ji's satsang to premies in Madrid, Spain on 10 May, 1976
It's really fortunate that we are here. You see there are a lot of things that are really beautiful in sequence. And it's almost necessary to understand why they are beautiful. When we understand what is the beauty of it, what is the purpose of it, then it becomes more applicable to our life.
When premies were searching for this hall, they had to find out what kind of a hall it was. It would have been no good if it had been for 900,000 people, or if it had been a mere stadium for football or soccer. First they had to find out what kind of a hall it is, what are its facilities, and then they could say, "Yes, it can hold 600 people, and that's about how many we expect to come. So this is the right kind of hall. Let's get it."
There would have been no reason to get a big soccer stadium. Why? Because it's much bigger than we need. A lot of people might say, "the bigger it is, the better it is," but no. That's not true. It really would have been inappropriate. I mean, if you would have seen me from one corner of that stadium, I would have seemed about 1 inch big, so nobody would have seen me very well, and definitely there would have been no adequate sound system. So in the same way, we have to realise one by one what is really being given to us, what has really been offered to us, why it is so beautiful, and then how we can really apply that to our lives and practice it every day.
It's like the example I was giving in Barcelona. You go to a department store, and you can find clothes, strainers, anything you can possibly imagine, but you don't go and buy the whole department store. Why not? The more you buy, the better stock you'll have. If.you buy the whole department store, then you probably wouldn't need to bother about anything for a long, long time. That's an idea, but if you evaluate it - can I possibly purchase that whole department store? - the answer is no, I don't have that much money. Well, then if I cannot purchase it, what do I do? The answer is, go in and find what you want and then come out with it.
Then again, we have to question ourselves, "How do I really determine what I need?" and, "What is really important in my life?" That is where a lot of very intricate things come in. It's like you walk into your kitchen and say, "I don't have any sugar or any milk or any strainer, so I need milk, sugar, and a strainer." Then you go into your bedroom and you say, "Wait a minute, I don't have any bed sheets left. They're all torn apart, so I need some bed sheets." And you go on like that, one item after another. You make a list and then you go to a department store and you buy what's feasible.
Before you received Knowledge, the question was, "Well, am I happy or am I not happy? If I'm not happy, then why do I need to be happy?" I mean, this is the question that came to me before I received Knowledge. I had heard a lot of satsang, but then the question was, "What is it realistically going to do in my life?"
When you hear the first satsang in your life, it's almost as if somebody were showing you a very great ad for an item. "With this Knowledge you can receive salvation, with this Knowledge you can receive peace, with this Knowledge you can really fulfill the meaning of your life." It's almost like an ad. And how many people really take that ad and say, "Yeah, well, that's true?" Not very many. To them it's "Come on, this radio says all the time, buy this and buy that and buy this and buy that and buy this and buy that." A lot of people complain about all the ads they have on American television, that they don't even get to watch their movies properly because right after a few minutes here comes the T.V. ad saying, "Buy this and buy this," and it just goes on that way.
But maybe I do need something, maybe I should switch over to this other thing or maybe I do need that. Then you say, "Okay. I need happiness, but why do I need happiness? What is the purpose? What is it really going to solve in my life? I mean, is it going to provide me with another son?
Is it going to provide me with another apartment? Is it going to provide me with an airplane ticket for all of my life? I mean, what is it really going to provide me?" Because that peace and satisfaction we all are looking for is not something that you can just go to a shop and say, "Hey, let me try a little bit of peace," and you try a little bit of peace "Yeah, I like that," or "No, I don't want that peace."
Peace is nothing like that. Peace is something that is within inside of you and you have to really experience it from your open heart. So then the idea comes, "Yes, in fact, I need peace. And I can really realise it." So that's the first decision which triggers off a big cycle inside of you, "Yes, in fact I do need peace." It's like the idea comes that, "Yes, I do need to go to the department store." But before you even proceed further, you have to really look at yourself and say, "Well, how am I really going to apply this Knowledge to my life? Is it going to be just something that I'm going to do one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening and get it over with, or is it going to be something that is really going to become a part of my life and stay that way? Is it going to be just something that I received, filled out a membership card and then I am done and finished with? I mean , what is it going to be?"
Then we really have to say, "Now wait, do I want it, and do I see the true necessity for it?" It's like you go into your kitchen and say, "Yeah, I have no sugar." So that's like when you turn around and say to yourself, "Well, yes, look how confused I am. I'm not understanding things, and yes, I do need peace." Or it's like you turn around and say, "Listen, the world is getting too heavy for me, yes, I need peace." When you make that decision that the world is in fact getting very heavy for you, or that yes, you are very confused, you don't joke around with yourself. If you are apt to joke around. with yourself, then you might as well forget it, because then somebody else is going to joke around with you, and that person who's going to joke with you is no comedian: he controls this whole life.
So we can't just go around joking with each other, saying, "Yes, I need peace, ha-ha-ha," and then "No, I don't need peace. No, forget it, man. Who needs peace these days?" We can't just fool ourselves, we can't just run around, say one thing one time, and another thing another time. We have to really stick with the fact that, "Yes, I do need peace."
Really say to ourselves, "Yes, this world is getting heavy for me," or "It's not getting heavy for me," or "Yes, the solution that I have been looking for all my life is this Knowledge." That is how we should really proceed.
This is a mere example, and this same example might fit in your lifestyle completely differently. Maybe you saw something else. But what I'm saying is that when we make a decision, then we should stick with it. There are so many people who have received Knowledge and they're really not practicing it. Now they have quite a few rational excuses, like "Well, wait a minute, this was happening to us and that was happening to us," and yes, to some extent maybe it's true. But explain to me what is the rational excuse for missing the very most important thing in this life? There is none.
And so, what I'm trying to emphasize is that we have to really understand how fortunate we are to have this Knowledge. It goes back to when I started giving satsang about how everything is an opportunity for us. Then it's like, "Okay, I understand." Yet, we can't even just say that, and then go on. Instead we should say, "Yes, that is true, Knowledge is beautiful. Yes, I should in fact pay more attention to it."
And when we go on from that point, what is the next beautiful thing? The next beautiful thing is that this Knowledge has been given to us when it didn't necessarily have to be, at a time in this century when it's very, very hard to find traces of peace. One example I give is that once a man was carrying around a club in his hand, and first he just killed animals and ate them. Then he said, "Ah ha, if I can kill a zebra with it, then I can turn around and hit this other guy who has stolen half my zebra from me." And so he said, "Huh, this is an incredible tool. I can hit somebody on the head with it and he'll die, he'll conk out."
Then there was an arrow age. Arrows were pretty amazing at one time. And it went on from there. They came out with a gun that had five or six barrels, and one guy held it while the other guy rotated this little handle and the bullets went "ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta." It was a big machine gun, and when they came out with it, people said, "What is that?" When they came out with guns a lot of people in India thought it was God that had come to earth with His ultimate weapon, because there are a lot of stories about all these things that God has so He can just stand at a place and boom, it'll kill you.
So now there are machine guns, there are tanks, there are so many things and today science is getting so advanced that they are getting into the laser which is quite capable of destroying a bomb shot midway from an airplane. It's just getting more and more advanced, and okay, well that's great; maybe it is and maybe it isn't. Yet what about peace, what about tranquility, what about satisfaction? That's all gone, it's disappeared. It's like if one person said to another, "Listen, why don't you come over to my house and we will have a talk," and when the guy knocks at his door at 7 o'clock and says, "Here I am to have a talk with you," the other guy takes his fist and just completely knocks all his teeth out. They stand there and they fight and finally they both end up in the hospital. Well, maybe they worked out something, but what happened to the talk, what happened to that little agreement that they were supposed to get together? It completely went up in the air and was completely gone.
Yes, man has advanced and I'll have to give credit to that, otherwise it would be kind of hard to sit on this stage and try to scream without a microphone. Yes, in fact we have to give credit to the advancement of science, because when premies read newspapers, when premies see pictures, when premies see movies of the festival, they like it, and you have to give credit there. Can you imagine if you were trying to hold this program with no lights? By now it would be quite dark outside. So you have to give credit, but also the whole idea is to find something, to find that ultimate goal. What happened to the ultimate goal?
We come to the second point now, which is why it is very, very fortunate for us to receive Knowledge at this time. Look how crazy the world is getting; I mean the whole situation is getting much worse every day. Maybe to people it seems better, but it's just like the stock market that fluctuates and then all of a sudden, boom, and that's it. So it just goes on and on and on and on, and really there has been no peace. Man is so involved with science, everybody uses buses, bicycles, and all the various means that science has provided. and we are so involved with this modern world with this era, with this science. In the midst of this, we are so lucky that we are able to receive Knowledge in this lifetime.
So, there are two facts right there and if you look at them, they'll apply to your life, if not one way, if not through the examples I've given you, then they'll apply to you some other way. But they will apply to you because it is a fact that Knowledge is beautiful and Knowledge is the answer to this world's problems. If it were just a matter of somebody telling us that then maybe we could say, "Okay, let's say yes. Knowledge is beautiful and we have realised peace, but then what? But since we have realised Knowledge and it is beautiful, we have to say "Yes" to it, not "No" or just, "Okay". Because it's more than that, it's more intimate than that.
The next thing is, okay, now I have realised Knowledge, yes I have realised Knowledge, and yes I have experienced peace, so what do I do? The third thing, the third opportunity is to say, "In this lifetime I'm also capable of doing satsang, and service - that we have to underline - and meditation - and that we also have to underline. Of course we have to underline satsang, too. You can't really give priority to one thing over the other thing, because those three things work together. If you take one thing out, it doesn't work.
It's like, a camera on a tripod has a lens, a motor in the middle, and a magazine insert on the back. The magazine has the film in it and without the film, the camera is no good because it's not going to shoot anything, there's going to be no picture taken. And without the lens, the film is no good, because what is it going to shoot: And without the motor, nothing is going to happen, it's just going to be one bright exposure on one frame and that's about it. So those things are all very, very important.
In the same way, there's Knowledge and as I was saying in Barcelona, Knowledge is completely infinite, but we are not,
and therefore we have to hook ourselves up to that Knowledge. It's like, there has to be a transformer between us and Knowledge so that we can synch up to it. And that transformer is satsang, service and meditation. So now we come again to the same point. See, when Jesus was Perfect Master, John received Knowledge, and he did satsang, service and meditation. Believe me, if he wouldn't have done meditation he would never have realised who Jesus was. And if he wouldn't have done service, when he would have never ended up writing anything about Jesus, which was his service. And if he would never have done satsang, what would he have written? So those three things are benefiting a lot of people today.
Now this example is a little remote, but that's exactly how it benefits us. Maybe it won't be three thousand years later that somebody will realise, "Oh, Julio is doing satsang, service and meditation." No! It's right now that it'll affect us, if yes, in fact we are doing satsang, service and meditation.
What happens when we have and give satsang? I mean, what really happens? I've talked to a lot of people who have gone up on stage and started giving satsang and first they are very hesitant and they say, "Na, c'mon, I'm very shy, you got other speakers." They're like little kids, you know, and don't want to get into it. But then they get up and start giving satsang and slowly, slowly, slowly there's a build up, It starts going more and more and more and more and more; and then it gets so beautiful. Sometimes all of a sudden these people just completely crack up and they cry, or they have to completely stop, and then they come up to me and say, "Wow, that was just really beautiful, that was a really beautiful experience."
Why is it like that? It's something I've been trying to put my finger on and I haven't been able to yet, but there's something about giving satsang which is very, very beautiful. It is the connection. This is what I really think it is. I mean I can't be too sure of it, but I think this is what it is. Because when we get up and we talk about this Knowledge, we really look at our lives and see, "Yes, wow - this has really happened." It's like the mountain climber who climbs up this big mountain and he turns his tape recorder on and says, "Yes, I have just climbed forty thousand feet!"
Sure, we give satsang for other people, but see, for example, now I'm not too sure how much it's benefiting you. Maybe to you I'm talking completely off the wall, but I know it's doing me wonders. And this is why I like to give satsang, because it's really beautiful for me. Satsang pertains to us, too, in our lives because it's really beautiful. It's for our own growth. It's like, okay, let's find out exactly where you are, Instead of making a chart of it every day, when you give satsang you can really see.
Imagine somebody getting up to give satsang and maybe the director of the stage says "Mr So and So is gonna give you satsang." So he gets up, but he hasn't been doing any meditation, satsang or service and he says, "Hi, dear premies, and uh, geez, I don't know what to say, bye," and he goes off.
Because he's not realising anything. But if there was in fact an experience for him to tell, then he would say it.
If you take all my satsangs and take the average meaning of them all, they'll be identically the same. Why? Because it's experience that is inspiring satsang, not something else. So when experience is the same, all the satsang will therefore also be the same. That is why satsang is beautiful, because it actually lets us know where we are at. Maybe it also shares the beautiful experience that we've had of Knowledge with other people, but it also lets us know where we're at. That's why it's really good for us.
Then again the point comes, "Well, why is meditation important?" Probably that's not a very big question that comes up, because it's a clear thing. Can you imagine if 'all those guys came here, and they were playing guitar, but one guy comes out with no guitar and he is just running around in circles, and that's all he did? I mean, you would probably turn around and say, "What is that guy doing?" Meditation is just like that. It's only when you have realised Knowledge and you do meditation that it makes that real sound.
What really inspired you? When you saw those people come on stage and perform, what really inspired you? Their music, the way they performed it, or their clothes? Well, it's a combination of all three. Yes, in fact it was the music that inspired you; yes, in fact the way they performed inspired you; and yes, in fact the whole vibe inspired you. There's a very great difference between having a guitar and not having a guitar. Or even if I would take a guitar and put it on my back and just completely simulate all the notes, how great would it be? You wouldn't hear anything. And that is how great it would be - it would be as great as to hear nothing, to see somebody just come and dance around, trying to simulate playing a guitar. So, the importance of meditation is something that only you yourself can realise when you do meditation.
Now, service is the part where people can sometimes get very confused. I mean, what is service? And why do we have to really do service, what is the point of doing service? You have meditation, you have satsang and that should be about it. Well, listen, there's a lot more to service than what you think it is. First of all, everybody cannot do service. Only people who have become servants, servants of that Knowledge can do service. And only those people can become servants who have surrendered. So first of all, if you think you are doing service, well, then maybe think it over, because if you have not surrendered to this Knowledge, then you are not a servant, and if you're not a servant, how can you do service?
I'll give you an example. At the residence in Malibu, the water man comes and brings two bottles of water at a time. He takes them and he puts them in this certain spot. Okay? Now this guy is not a premie; he just brings his big truck and his job is to deliver water, so he does that. Then maybe I call a certain premie we know and say, "Marino, can you bring a bottle of water?" He says, "Sure." So he gets up, and he goes to the exact same place where the water was placed by that man, picks up one bottle of water and brings it.
Now you wouldn't be able to say that the Sparklets water man was literally doing service to Guru Maharaj Ji in his residence because that water is for his consumption, and the water man came to the residence delivering the water bottles; but then again, couldn't you say that the Sparklets water man was doing service to Guru Maharaj Ji in his residence? And then could you also say that Marino Amico, because he did the exact same thing, he just delivered them in
different way, was also doing service in the residence to Guru Maharaj Ji? Well, one person has Knowledge and one person doesn't, but what's the difference? I mean, what really is the difference?
If there is no difference, then the whole world is doing service for Guru Maharaj Ji: those maids who come and clean up the room or the pilot or the stewardesses or the people who develop Guru Maharaj Ji's film. Then everybody is doing service to Guru Maharaj Ji. But no, everybody isn't doing service to Guru Maharaj Ji. Only the people who have realised that connection and who have surrendered are actually doing service. We can sit by ourselves and say we are doing service, but that's just not the way it works. See, it's like telling yourself that you own seven 747's. Well, you can go ahead and tell yourself how many 747's you use; you can go ahead and tell yourself how rich you are - that in fact you have been to the moon seven times and that in fact you have travelled throughout the whole Milky Way; that in fact you have been to the centre of the earth; that in fact you have travelled everywhere that exists, to the sun, moon, Mars, everywhere. Go ahead, tell it to yourself. I mean, it's your mouth, it's your ears, it's your voice. Just scream it out loud. But I suggest you do it in a private place, because if somebody hears you, he might think you're completely crazy, which would be true.
So, just saying to ourselves, "I'm doing service," is just sort of kidding ourselves. Because are we really doing service or are we not? That cannot be determined unless we have surrendered ourselves. And if we have surrendered ourselves and we have the intention of doing service, when we do actually perform physical duties, then we are doing service, then we are a servant, because we have surrendered ourselves.
So you might have thought Knowledge is a pretty nice joke, but it isn't. There's a lot more to it. Bob and I were talking about the fact that a lot of times initiators sit down in Knowledge sessions and they say, "Would you cut off your head if Guru Maharaj Ji said so?" A lot of times people say, "Well, wait a minute, why would Guru Maharaj Ji want me to cut my head off?" I mean, I wouldn't ask anybody to cut his head off. So, then Bob said that a lot of times people say, "Well, what is this all about, people saying if Guru Maharaj Ji says to cut your head off, you'll cut your head off?" But it would really make a lot of sense to say, "Man, if you think cutting your head off or jumping off a cliff is hard, wait till you start getting involved with Knowledge. Cutting your head off and jumping off a cliff takes just one second's determination. You just take a big knife and you go 'kkk' … and that takes only one minute or less than a minute. And if you want to jump off a cliff, all it takes is 'Here I go', just lean forward and you'll be down the hill. So, that's easy to do, if you really were up to it. But the hard part is to do satsang, service, and meditation constantly because it's really involved. You can't fool yourself."
Look, if you wanted to jump off a cliff, you would choose a very high cliff. If you wanted to cut off your neck, you would choose a very nice, sharp knife. Why? Because you don't want to sit there and experience any results from it; you don't want to fall off a cliff and then still stay alive. That would be much worse, because all your bones would be broken you would probably be in a cast for about a year, you wouldn't be able to eat, drink, or sleep, anything, you'd have all these tubes going down your throat, and nobody wants to go through that experience. Then finally the doctor is going to walk into your bedroom and say, "Forget it, your're gonna kick the bucket anyway, here, I'll pull your machine out." And that's it.
So if you choose a nice sharp knife, when you cut your throat it goes nice and smoothly through it and you don't stay around to find out what happened. But with Knowledge, with satsang, service and meditation if you're not hearing satsang, then you'll know the immediate effects and that will stay with you for a long time; and if you're not doing meditation, then that effect will stay with you for a long time.
Once you receive Knowledge, you should meditate on it. Don't think it's like dragging your head down into it, because it's very natural, it's within inside of us, and we have to just get connected to it.
It's like when I first came from India and started speaking the English language. It was a little bit weird, a little bit strange to speak English all the time and I though, "Yeah, I'm never going to forget a word of Hindi; I'm not going to forget Hindi, ever." Well, I was talking with Raja Ji the other day and all of a sudden I couldn't remember some Hindi words. It was like, wow! You can really forget something that you have known for a long, long, long, long time. And that was just a couple of words that I didn't remember.
In the same way, when we came into this world, we were connected with Knowledge. You know, it was so beautiful when Premlata was born. She came out and she cried and then after she had a little milk, she felt better. Then everything was just breathing very, very evenly. It was such a surprise to me because I'd never seen a baby that close. Being with a baby that close is just wonderful, it's just really beautiful.
So the problem isn't like we just went to a foreign country and stayed too long there, and now we were brought back home and we just simply don't remember the language, so we have to brush up on it. We are so dumb that we completely forgot the whole thing. It takes more than brushing up, it means literally going to school and learning the whole language again.
Really, it's all within inside of us, and we have to just plug right back into it. That's what satsang, service, and meditation are for. Actually, we are very fortunate that we have a right to make a decision, should we or should we not do satsang, service, or meditation, because probably that is the only drawback of human beings today. They can say, "Nah, I don't want peace. Who wants peace? People are going to think I'm weird if I plug into this thing." That is probably the only drawback of everything that's fortunate in this lifetime. That's one thing I feel, that man really shouldn't have been given any choice about it. I mean, it's inside of him, it's supposed to be inside of him, it is him. And yet man is given a choice to forget it, and therefore, he forgets it. It's just that way in God's creation. The Lord does funny things sometimes, and there is no logical explanation for them. So it is really for us now to understand that Knowledge is, to really do satsang, service, and meditation. Everything is really beautiful if you do it, sincerely do it.
It's not like saying, "Yes, I have been all around the universe. I
have seen Mars and I have seen moons. Mars is all green and they have these little people with two little things sticking up and two little front teeth," and just giving all these ideas to people that, "Yes, in fact they have little mouses on the moon that eat cheese all day long, yes, in fact there're these flying saucers all across." Maybe all that is good enough for you, and as I said, if you want to say that to yourself, it's your mouth, it's your voice, and it's your ears. But do it in a very private spot where people can't hear you, because if they're going to stop and see who's saying that because that's completely not appropriate.
Sometimes premies have a lot of problems understanding this, they have a lot of problems plugging back into it. So, I would say that if it was a matter of life and death for you and you were trying to swim, and in fact you knew how to swim, how much would you try to get out of that predicament? Ask yourself that question, answer that for yourself, and whatever trials you would go through, whatever affort you would put in to save yourself from that predicament, just put a hundred times more than that into Knowledge, because this isn't just a matter of life and death, this is much more. You have to just try and you'll find out how everything is.
And now I guess you will have darshan and they'll set up everything and it's just like I said, maybe I'll have a chance to come back to Spain again, or maybe not. It's completely up to your experience, it's completely up to you what kind of a decision you really make for yourself, because I'm not going to make a decision for anybody. I'm really not. The reason is because it is really your understanding and your learning that is going to affect you, and not mine. But neither am I going to say, "Do whatever you want to do," because there is something that you should do which shouldn't be left to a person's choice. So, I'm not going to really force anybody's decision. If you make a decision, then you make a decision. What can anybody do about that? But, if you don't give satsang, service, and meditation a sincere chance in your life, then this life isn't worth living, because you have just forgotten the three major things upon which the whole system is based.
It varies in the tradition from one country to another country, but if somebody has done you a favour, you usually don't just turn around and slap him in the face, no matter who he is. Okay, we have this life and one thing supports this whole life. If we just turn around and say, "Forget it," then it's just like having an airplane which looks very beautiful from the outside. but has no engine in it. I don't know what you can really do with it - you can sit and play pilot in the cockpit and go 'mmmmm' and just pretend you're flying - I guess that's about all you can do. And if in this lifetime you cannot realize this Knowledge, it's just not worth it.
The thing is that there is no reason why you can't realize Knowledge. You can make up a rational explanation for yourself, "Well, this is the reason why I can't understand Knowledge," but really that is not a reason, because if you are alive right now, there is no reason why you shouldn't understand Knowledge. But if you are dead, I don't think I'm even going to venture that kind of an expedition to try to make you understand, But you're alive right now and this is really a beautiful experience, it is realizable, and we can realize it. So this is why I'm saying, "Realize it."
And if there's a lot more to this experience than just what people sometimes say, there's also a lot more to be understood, there's a lot more to be done, a lot more. You are the premies who are responsible for a lot of generations after generations after generations of people receiving Knowledge, and this is an important time. So first, we have to realize Knowledge, and then we can go out and give people the true satsang that they really need, If you don't understand Knowledge yourself, then it is like the person who gives satsang and gets up and says, "Dear premies, gee, I don't know what to say, bye." Can you imagine if that were the kind of satsang that you were given? What if an initiator got up in front of you and said, "Dear premies, gee, I don't know what to say, bye." Or what if I came and you got this program together, you got the hall together, you got the whole place together, and then I came and sat in front of you and said, "Dear premies, gee, I don't know what to say, bye," and just split? I wouldn't be worth anything.
We all have come to experience, to share that most beautiful thing, and therefore it becomes more and more important to just give satsang to each other. It even comes to a point where you give satsang to yourself because it really keeps you in place. So realize and understand, because there is something to understand, there is something to realize. Just really try to plug yourself in and realize this Knowledge more and more, because it is really beautiful. When you realize this, then you'll understand what I'm talking about, because right now it's just a word, "beautiful."
So the whole thing boils down to "Knowledge is beautiful." But when you understand, it's like when a child is growing, and you say, "Don't do this," and "Don't do that," and "This is hot." Right now Premlata is at a stage where she tries to get into everything, and a lot of that electrical equipment is hot, so I say, "hot," and Marolyn says, "hot." Now she has learned the word, "hot," and she goes around to everything, touches it and says, "hot, hot, hot." It is really unfortunate, but she'll have to touch something hot and get hurt by it, and then she'll realize that, "This is hot, and I shouldn't touch it."
In the same way, one jolt of experience with Knowledge shows us what we need to know. We said, "beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, nice, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful," and it's just like saying, "hot, hot, hot, hot." In the same way that you say, "hot, hot," you learn how to say, "beautiful, beautiful," and then when you realize it's really beautiful, you say, "Yeah, it's beautiful."
So it's for your personal understanding, Just try to grow. Grow for yourself, grow for everybody, grow for each other, because growth is also something that you share. Physical growth is so limited and it is dependent upon things like what you eat and your age. Maybe if you are all grown up, that's about it for your physical growth, but there's another kind of growth inside, and that growth is what we have to share with each other. Let yourself live and let other people live; let them grow, too, because if you start pouring all your growth on them, then what is the other person going to do? So tell each other grow and also grow yourself.

grow. Remember that to Knowledge you're still a baby, it doesn't matter how long it's been. I'm still a baby to Knowledge too, because it's such a long path. All I can do is just grow and all you can do is just grow.
So, I can go on and on, but just remember to do service and as I said, not because you want to say so or because you want to be seen. This is the difference between some people and others. You might not believe this or maybe you would, but a lot of people take these rags and start cleaning every place when they know I'm coming. They start cleaning the floor, start doing this and that, but only for that second I'm there, and when I split, they split. They don't want to touch anything any more; they want to do all this just for show, just to be able to say that, yes, they're doing service. Don't do that kind of service. You might as well do nothing if you're going to do that because that's detrimental to you, that's dangerous for you. Do the service where you have actually surrendered, do the service where you are a servant. It's like the saying, one man's medicine, another man's poison, because when that medicine is really not applicable to you, then it really does become poison. So therefore, do it right, and everything will be beautiful.
