Prem Rawat's Smart Cards
Prem Rawat’s organization (Elan Vital) introduced the Smart Card system in 1999, with full global rollout and application distribution taking place throughout 2000.
Key Details of the Smart Card System
Purpose:
The Smart Card was created as an official, permanent photo ID card featuring an embedded chip or unique identification number (and later a Personal Access Number / PAN).
It served as an entry credential to verify that an individual was a "bona fide" student who had officially received the techniques of "Knowledge".
Functionality at Events:
The primary objective was to streamline event security, registration, and access control.
Having a centralized digital database allowed organizers to host "Knowledge-only" events or "Knowledge Reviews" on short notice without needing local groups to manually audit attendance or verify attendees' credentials.
Data Tracking:
Beyond serving as an event badge, the system allowed organizational entities (such as Elan Vital, and later Words of Peace International / WOPG) to maintain an updated global registry of active practitioners, tracking event attendance and participation.
