Dear A.,

Our decision to introduce some kind of wording at the contribution table of our events; indicating an admission is required, has been vindicated once more at the recent Raja Ji / Yoram Weis event.

After discounting the musicians at this event, who we traditionally do not ask to pay, and the guest speakers themselves, reconciling the numbers of PWK attending this event who payed (74) against the income received, $1270.00, shows a remarkable high strike rate of 90%+.

Based on a $20.00 admission and the adjusted number, the optimal amount we might have expected to receive would have been $1400.00.

At the door itself the cash receipts given were pre written to expedite entry so discretion and common sense needed to be exercised.

One lady and her daughter could only pay $5.00 between them, and another payed $10.00 and this was accepted without fuss; and their dignity intact. At least two people walked in without paying, a common ploy being to go to either the toilets or kitchen and not come back.

Attending events is not like going to the cinema.

One problem we encountered was too small a float (we ran out of $10.00 notes) for an event of this nature and this created some confusion and minor hold ups at the table.

Ticketing of course creates an assessable income of 40% to 50% for us on the first $1000.00 and 30% there after (we are only allowed to earn a profit of $417.00 per annum, but we should be able to balance expenditure against this form of income over the year I feel.

Over all I am pleased with how it all went and the result.

J.
