Imagine a country where the water supply was laced with amphetamines. Everybody would be a bit on edge, everybody would be at each others' throats. Competition would breed hatred would breed fear would breed murder would breed chaos. And then imagine if a source of pure water were found. Those people who drank from the pure source would be relaxed, cool, calm, connected. They would see that their pure source could bring an end to the tensions in society, that it could provide an empirical basis for peace.

Peace comes from peace of mind, and a society based on adrenalin cannot be a peaceful society. That's where meditation comes in.

Meditation actually changes the glandular balance of those who get into it. Guru Maharaj Ji's meditation, according to doctors who are familiar with its effects, actually stimulates the pineal gland, (the legendary "third eye" of the Tibetans) causing a relaxed, alert state of mind which allows the meditator increased problem-solving ability, increased energy, and greater satisfaction.

Guru Maharaj Ji really intends this world to get into shape. As a result, he doesn't just give us a meditation and leave us to fend for ourselves. He brings us an entire plan of action which clarifies all the details of life and leads to a world society based on brotherly and sisterly love. He provides us with a creative family unequaled in purity and practicality. And he gives us a three fold path - designed to eradicate selfishness as surely as the sun melts snow.

Human beings spend energy (the pocket money of life) in three ways - thought, word and deed. Therefore Guru Maharaj Ji gives us three ways to spend our energy on love and to receive love as our experience. He gives us meditation to purify our thoughts. He gives us the task of telling the world that peace is found, to purify our words. And he gives us the opportunity to serve others, to purify our actions.

The game is on. Maharaj Ji has provided us with the empirical basis for peace to come on earth. Meditation is preparing us for Utopia.

What will paradise be like? What will it be like to live on this planet in a peaceful and agreeable manner? What will the United Nations do next, once the nations become united?

The best known doctors will be those with no work to do, for all their patients will be in excellent health. People will work for sheer joy in serving others, and not for any profit motive. Passports will decorate the walls of museums.

Unless we experience unselfish love, speak unselfish love and actually behave unselfish love, this will continue to be a selfish universe. Without meditation, we will never tap the reservoirs within us. Unless we become a family of people at peace with ourselves, we will never know what it is to be human. And unless we can find some way to serve our brothers and sisters, our love will be unable to express itself.

The sky will not oppose peacefulness. The earth will not insist on war. The trees are unlikely to object if we start living like human beings. We don't have to persuade nature to be harmonious. We are the ones who have to change.

Call To Millenium

This planet was made for peace. It contains enough food, enough land, enough sky and enough fresh air to inspire anybody. It is incredibly well designed. It supports a variety of life forms with amazing flexibility and grace. All the little details are perfect. Even the ears of corn are perfect. And from a distance the earth looks perfect too, like a jewel in deep space. It is a marvelous planet, and it is our home.

Yet we have not behaved too well on our planet. We hardly ever stop fighting wars. People are always robbing the poor to give to the rich. We have encouraged personal ambition at the expense of common decency. Even our religions have often been the cause of more misery than relief. We have fought crusades. We have held inquisitions. We have lost our sense of proportion, our common sense. We have set Nature off-balance. We have polluted earth, sea and sky in an attempt to improve our circumstances. And none of this has helped in the slightest.

It is time for the pattern to change.

We all share a dream, a dream that one day peace will come on earth. The religions of every people speak of this time, a time when "nation shall not lift up sword against nation," a time when the lion and the lamb shall lie down together. Christ was speaking of this time when he said that the meek would inherit the earth. It is becoming more and more obvious that if they don't come into their inheritance soon, there will be very little left for them to inherit.

On November 8, 1970, a 12-year-old boy addressed a crowd of more than one million people gathered at Delhi's India Gate. He told them, "I declare I will establish peace in this world."

In the three years since he spoke those words, Guru Maharaj Ji has been around the world. He has visited Japan and Europe, South Africa and the United States. And wherever he has traveled, he has left a gift with those who heard him. At the age of 15, Guru Maharaj Ji has already brought peace of mind to six million people worldwide.

We have received the "Knowledge" - the gift which Maharaj Ji brings to this world. We are doctors and schoolchildren, grandmothers and construction workers, and we have shared an experience which has transformed our lives. Guru Maharaj Ji has proved to us that an age of peace is possible, now.

Peace is needed. And peace shall be obtained. This November 8, 9, and 10, Guru Maharaj Ji will attend the Millennium '73 festival in the Houston Astrodome and present to the world a plan for putting peace into effect. He will announce the founding of an international agency to feed and shelter the world's hungry. He will initiate the building of a Divine City that shall demonstrate to the world a way for people of all sorts to live together in harmony. And he will start a campaign to spread the Knowledge of soul to all mankind.

Humanity is invited. The peoples of all nations are invited. The leaders of all nations are invited. Inner peace and world peace are both at stake. This festival will be a world assemblage to save humanity. Great prophets have come into the world before now, and we have ignored their teachings.
