Awake And Experience
Prem Rawat: Divine Times magazine Satsang given by Durga Ji at the Hotel Okura in Tokyo, Japan, June 5th, 1975.

Dear premies,

It's really something tonight. You know, we were very tired from the trip we had in India, and so we came into the hotel room, and we both just fell asleep. In fact, all three of us completely conked out. I guess John and Eileen and Bob were trying to get ahold of us and wake us up, but we were so tired, we were so sleepy. Then all of a sudden the phone rang and it was eight o'clock, time to go! We've really been looking forward to this program, but we were just so tired. Even as we were putting on our clothes, we were so sleepy.

And it's like, in this world Maharaj Ji has given us something where we can be awake. The rest of the world, without Knowledge is really sleeping. So it's something that this Knowledge gives us the opportunity to be awake and to really be experiencing what we're here to experience.

If we walk down the streets of Tokyo, there's so many people in the street, so many people doing so many different things. It's such a gift to be able to realize that Maharaj Ji's given each one of us something very special. Maharaj Ji has let us be awake and be conscious of our consciousness, aware that we really are alive.

Say you're walking down the streets of Tokyo, and you look at all the people there and you realize that, "I have something special. I have something that's been given to me by Guru Maharaj Ji." And that's this Knowledge. You look at different people walking, and you think, "What is going on in their mind? What is going on in their head?" You know that they're thinking, thinking, thinking, thinking, thinking, thinking of something. You know, no matter what it is. They have no freedom from thinking. There's always something going on.

But if we're in a crowd of a thousand people, at each moment we can just turn off that thinking and be in meditation. That's so beautiful, to have that liberation, right here in this body, in this world. It's so beautiful to have that freedom, and to forget all these thoughts, this thinking.

This mind will constantly want to take energy and be thinking on its own. But with Knowledge we can just completely drop that and be in a state of bliss, a state of joy, without he worrying that the mind can take us through.

And so it's very important, premies, not to take this gift that Maharaj Ji's given us and not use it. To just receive it and then do whatever we may is not really what the object is. The important thing is to take this gift and to use it. If you're very, very cold and Maharaj Ji comes along and gives you a beautiful warm coat, the object is to wear it, to make use of it, because it will help you. But to take the coat and then just lay it aside, it's nothing.

It's really very wonderful, premies, that we're even here, that Maharaj Ji came, and that we didn't sleep through the whole thing. Because, really, we've been looking forward to coming to Japan for a very long time.

It's very important now that all of us do meditation and that all of us go and give satsang to everyone. It's not just something that we have in order to keep it to ourself. It's something that we have to share with everyone. There are many people in Tokyo that need Knowledge. I'm sure you're aware of that.

And so now I think the most beautiful thing is to just have the darshan of Guru Maharaj Ji. I think we are going to have a darshan line, so everyone can receive darshan.

Thank you.
