THE GOLDEN AGE

realize The Glory

Guru Maharaj Ji - Palais Ballroom, Melbourne - October 29, 1974

Well dear premies, I guess there's not much of a story left. This is the last of the tour and after that we go and there is Hans Jayanti celebration in Canada. And it's really so beautiful, it's so blissful, because after all this tour it just leads back into such a big, beautiful function. And so many premies are going to come, and be able to hear satsang and really be able to understand and enjoy themselves. It will be really really beautiful. And so premies it's very important for all of us to realize this Knowledge that has been revealed to us.

Prem Rawat Inspirational Speaker 1974 And you know it's so strange, really in a way it's strange that this Knowledge was even revealed to us. Now this I'll have to explain you. We come into this world from the source, and that source is what this Knowledge is, is what within inside of us is, whatever we see in this world is a part of that and we are a part of it, too. And we start from the source and we come into this world; we are one with the source and then we depart from it and we come into this world and here we are. You know, we come, we're born and we go through the whole transit, through the whole channel of this earth and the waves of this earth and everything. But then, after coming in this world and going through all the miseries that a man has to put up with, he is revealed this Knowledge. And you know what that does? That's what's strange. It puts him right back from where he started. But that's where the destination is, too. Because you see, we leave our houses, we go away, just to be able to come back.

And really premies, this is the reason that this Knowledge is so important for all of us and so beautiful for all of us. Because in an instant, in a second - well, really it isn't even a second - it takes us right back, to our source, where we belong. So many people experience all these strange difficulties and stuff because within inside of them there is something that longs to go back and to merge with what created it. And like it's such a blissful feeling, such a beautiful feeling when we go back and merge, really really merge with our source. And so this is why this Knowledge is so beautiful and so important for us human beings living in this world. So for us who are present in this lifetime, it is like a golden opportunity that has been given to us. What else can a man ask for in this world?

We come and we think, oh it would be nice to have a car, and then a desire of a human being just goes on and on and on and on. You know it starts from where we can't even notice it, it's practically unnoticeable. And then when we see the end of it, the coming end of it, it's like giant, huge. And man always has been dreaming about, oh it would be nice to have a Mini-Cooper. Then he gets the Mini-Cooper and drives around - it gets very hot in here, so I think maybe something that's just a little bit better. So he goes on, he maybe gets a BMW or Audi, and then he thinks, no I need a big car, and then he goes into the big cars. Desire - there is really no end to it, it just keeps going on and on and on and on and on. But really, if you come to think of it or try to realize it, this is not the reason why we have been given this birth. This is not the reason why we have been given this golden, golden opportunity.

If you take all this wealth in this world, I mean all the currency of this world, if that's all combined together, all the gems, gold, silver, platinum that's not even been discovered in this world yet, if even that is all combined together, it's like nothing. It's like really really nothing. It's like saying, I want to buy a Rolls Royce for a dime. You know, going to the guy and saying, give me that Rolls Royce for a dime, sounds a nice price. And he'll just laugh at you, because compared to the price of that car, it's really nothing. It really isn't. And even that is not really the perfect example because 10 cents counts towards the price, but where this Knowledge is concerned, you can't even do that. They don't even count towards it - it's priceless.

And so premies, after you have received this Knowledge, of course there are certain things that you want to still do, and which I think are important for a person to still do, but there is nothing, nothing so beautiful as this Knowledge, as this beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Knowledge. And when this Knowledge has been revealed to us, by the Grace, then there is only one thing left to do, and that is this meditation. When you get the glass of water, there's only one thing left to do. Maybe before you got the water there were a lot of things to do - to yell, scream, shout, go to the place, get the water, search for the water, maybe dig for the water. But now that the water is there before us, now there is only one thing left to do and that is to be able to drink it.

And here we are, it's like if we really look at ourselves, here we are in this world and it's really like a desert, completely isolated. Because we know somebody who is supposed to be our friend and who is supposed to be our everything. We call him God. We call him the source of power. We call him everything. And we know a person by this name and we have never seen him. We come in this world and we look at another person and we say, oh it's fine so far as you are around. But really, he is as lost as you are. Because it's like a desert. And it doesn't matter - really, if you are in the desert and there is no water and no food, just hot blazing sun, it doesn't make a difference if there are a hundred people there or just one single person. They go through it all you know. And probably the suffering becomes much more when there is a hundred because you see everybody dying right in front of you. And maybe that's kind of the torture, but this is hell, we are in this world. We come, we stay for a little while, and there sometimes we maybe experience happiness - and that's also so-called happiness, that's what we call happiness. Maybe it isn't even happiness what we experience.

And really, if a little kid comes and he's crying, you know, you ask him, are you happy? And he says (Maharaj Ji shakes head). And then you give him a candy, give him a beautiful toy he likes -- are you happy? (Maharaj Ji nods head). That is his happiness and as soon as that candy is finished he'll look up to you again. Or as soon as that toy is over with he'll look #1 you again. Because really that was not his happiness It was his pleasure and he mistook it for happiness. And really isn't that the situation with this whole world?

And we are in this big desert, you know we have just come out of the city where there was water, food, friends, our father, our mother, our everything was there and it was so beautiful, so blissful. And then when we come on this hill and we turn back, still it's really beautiful back behind us and we like have support in ourselves and that's the situation of a little bitty kid, just a born baby is really beautiful. And because he has come from such a place which is really really mellow, really really beautiful, and he knows that there was somebody there who was his. And you see this big desert in front of you. Maybe for an instant you might worry, or for that instant you might feel happy because you have got a big way in front of you. But we start walking, and we start walking, walking, walking, walking, and we reach right in the middle of the desert and no way can we make it back, no way can we make it forward. You know we're already dead, gone. And at that point it doesn't matter how many people we look towards because they are all in the same situation.

You know it's like if a car is broken - it's like one car breaks down on the highway, and the guy gets out of his car and he gets to the phone place on the highway and he calls A.A.A. - OK, Automobile Association of America. Phones them up and says, listen, my car broke down in Santa Monica freeway. Will you come and pick it up? And this guy, he's about 50 miles away in the … and he says, sure I'd like to help you, but my truck is broken down too. So I can't help you. And it's like, he phoned there but how much help was it? Because the guy who is supposed to help him - his truck is broken down and that places them both in the same situation. And they can try to look towards each other, or they can think of each other, or do anything but they are both in the same situation.

And it's like we have hit the road and we try to look I towards each other for help. And this is what the whole world counts on. And the thing is they never get it because they are counting on the wrong help and that's why they don't get it. And this is why - I'm not talking about 1974. I'm talking from whenever you want to be from. From that time onwards till this day, till this hour, till this minute, until this second, really premies, so many religions were formed, so many people came, so many people tried to do it - and never made it. And the reason was because the people were always, constantly looking towards the wrong person, towards the wrong way and it's like, that's how they really got deluded when Jesus came - how many people really listened to him? They were just a bunch of people, they listened and they were happy, they were satisfied, they had found water. They had got their help all right. But those guys who were counting on their mind, who were counting on their leader to get them there, and not understanding that if someone is leading a gang of five people in a desert, it doesn't matter. That leader is in the same situation as the other four are, because he hasn't got any water. It's like a blind person trying to guide a blind person. They can go, but remember, not very far. They can go in circles all the time. And this is what happens in this world.

And so premies, if you really look at yourselves, not something to be proud of or to build your ego about but if you just really look at yourselves and realize the glory and the Grace that has been shed on us and that has been made so beautiful, that we have been able to get who was our father, mother, everything, back. We have been able to reach our destination. I mean it's so beautiful if you just look at it. Just so beautiful. And here we are and we have this Knowledge, the fact is that we are really really fortunate. And now that this Knowledge by the Grace has been revealed to us and that happiness given to us, shouldn't we all smile? You know, we have

crying all our lifetime already. It's like almost we busted our eyes crying. Now that this happiness … got back to us, it's about time we smiled about … and that is doing meditation.

We search for perfectness, and we try to look for perfectness, we build up conceptions about perfectness but that is not the way to do it. I tell you, in India I have met with every kind of person - and I … even in America I have met with every kind of person and the atheist who didn't believe in God, didn't believe in scripture, didn't believe in a soul, I mean I guess they didn't even believe in themselves, now those people, believe me or not, were the easiest, were the .. to tell that there is something like God.

Durga Ji (Marolyn Rawat) Wife of Prem Rawat (Maharaji) 1974 Because they had no conceptions about Him. Because they didn't have a big, giant story to cross over. They … built a big big river, see. And this is what a person does - he builds a big river and then the bigger the river the bigger the bridge gotta be. And the bigger the bridge gotta be, the more trouble you are looking … and this is how it is, you know.

Finally, first of all, I understand that maybe a few premies here have not realized Knowledge, and really … instead of trying to build more conceptions on each other, try to take those conceptions away. … is because conceptions are not always facts. … is why it takes a little time before I want … premies should realize Knowledge, people should … this Knowledge. That they should be able to let go of their conceptions. Because remember one thing, if you go to school, and here you are sitting and the teacher is teaching you algebra; and you get up and say now wait a minute, I didn't think it was that way, and you start giving your whole story about your conceptions. I thought it was this way and I thought, no, no, no, no it was this way and I thought your had to do it this way, and the whole story, you start putting it in front of him. He'll just look at you and say, listen: you want to learn something or you want to get out of the class? And … that way that we cannot go to school and … that "word" was spelt W-F-D-E. … say, forget it man, you'll get nothing.

… first we have to cross within inside of us our …, our mind, whatever we have built up. And for many intellectual people, for many people … been involved in this world, they think, how … that? How could we have even built up such a thing? And sometimes they're afraid to check, they completely chicken out of the whole situation … think that, how could we do that? They're not ready to face it, they can't face it. They can't look at themselves and say, listen, I was spelling "word" W-F-D-E. And they keep on writing it, they keep on writing it, they keep on writing it. It's … can never understand, you know.

… this brother received Knowledge and he … reverend in the Church, and he came to me and saw me in New York. And it was quite a place. … And he came - there were two Reverends came, both started talking, and I started giving satsang. And basically it was on the same line, it … same exact thing that was said in the Bible, … it was arranged differently. The words were … and everything, like the formation of it was … but the basic thing was the same. And it was … one of those persons, one of those Reverends, … really hard to relate, - how could it be like that? … face it. And I told them both at the same … said, listen, face it! Truth is within inside of us.

… example that I'm going to give you was a very … example I used to give. And it's like, you're … And you want to go to Melbourne. And you hit the freeway, and it says Melbourne, It's got an arrow … and you take your car and park it under it, under the sign. You're sitting there, and here comes the cop … says, what are you doing here anyway, get out of here … and you say, what's the matter? And the cop says, what's the matter with you? Why are you stopped in the middle of the highway? And he says, officer, no problem. I just wanted to go to Melbourne. It said Melbourne, so I just stopped my car there. I bet if ever that happened he isn't going to give you a ticket. He's going to think you are a stupe. And it's like, maybe it's funny, and that word I said, stupe, maybe that's a little bit too much for some people. But what it means is a fact, and what that person was doing was stupid.

And premies, just try to face it. Somebody comes to me and says, where is Bihari Singh, and I say there he is (Maharaj Ji points to Bihari Singh), and he says, oh hi Mr. Bihari Singh (Maharaj Ji talks to his own finger). This is not Bihari Singh. That is Bihari Singh. This is just a finger. And this is how it has eventually turned out. And there are so many scriptures and so many things, and they point towards God, they are trying to prove to you that there is something like God. They're trying to convince you. I mean that was obviously why the scriptures were made, because I guess Jesus was having a lot of problems convincing people, so the disciples thought, maybe we should write a book. It might help. And all the time it took, and all the words he said to convince people, they just wrote that down. We read the scripture and it's beautiful. It's not that I'm trying to ridicule scripture, it's really beautiful. There is Bhagavad Gita, there is Ramayana, there is Bible - so many scriptures in this world and they are all beautiful, they really are. I tell you, if you want to read a story book try to read scriptures, they are the best. They are really beautiful. They just go on and on and on -they're really beautiful. And it's like everything is interconnected to God, and it's really really beautiful. But again it's like they're trying to point to us - God is there God is within inside of you. Where is God? Here. Oh, hi Mr. God (Maharaj Ji looks at finger again). That's it, they cling onto it. But premies, really the most beautiful thing is within inside of us and this is what we have to realize.

Maybe there are different flowers on this garland, and maybe they were taken out of different trees, and they are different years old or different days old, but that thread is one. And that one thread has the capability to take all these flowers out of different trees, to take all these flowers which were grown at different times, to take them and to put them together in one garland, to be able to tie them all together. And this thread is like what this Knowledge is. It has incredible, incredible capability of tying every human being no matter who he is, small child to the oldest one, young, poor, rich, disabled, abled, anybody, and put them into one garland. And premies, that's when it looks most beautiful, that's when the whole beauty comes out, and this is what we all want. And maybe it's different words, maybe you didn't think of it that way, maybe you thought of it as a bouquet -it doesn't matter, it's all the same. That one thread ties it all around. And that love that everybody wants to experience, that beautiful, beautiful vibration, that blissed-out feeling or whatever we call it, you know, it's within inside of us.

And this meditation can really do a number, can really do a number, and really show us our real path. And let me caution you, there are some premies who are just about ready to give up on this Knowledge, and they figured, well he is coming, maybe we should go, maybe it might be of some good help. And let me tell you something. That when you first go - like I want to study mechanics, let's say. And I go to a school and a guy starts teaching me all these figures about - well let's say about electronics, I want to study electronics real bad. And I go to school and this guy takes funny transistors and these things, and he starts teaching me all these different numbers that all these transistors, dials, electrodes belong to. And here I am sitting in my home you know, really, I wanted to study electricity and here I am, stuck with this old book and these transistors, dials, electrodes and this and that - I don't want that. But then, when you go one more day to that school or two more days to that school, he tells you why, why you had to learn every number, why you had to really understand

It's really funny, because in America, when I was coming from Amherst, and I was driving in the motor home and it was really beautiful. After the Guru Puja in Amherst I was driving down and we hit Denver. And we went to the Denver residence, and there was this magazine there, just happened to be there. And I opened it up and it said these things. It's a kit you get, and everything is different. You know, you get circuit board, you get your electrodes, dials, transistors, everything different. You get a book. And then you can make things. You can make a radio, you can make a tape recorder, whatever you like. And I find those very interesting. I'd been talking to premies about building this giant tape recorder, that we could take all the tape recorders we got in the Mission and dump them into this big box, so that we can make stuff that costs a lot for the Mission, which can be really spent in propagation, that we could build tape recorders that could do this job that takes so much money to do, instantly almost. So I really got interested in it and we started building this oscilloscope, just for the feel of it.

Well, we started building and we started working on it all night long, all day long - we got it finished but it never worked. And then we got into building some more stuff. We built - well finally we built a television, and it's half-done yet. Well it's completed but it's got to be put into the cabinet and worked out. We built this radio and we built all these things and it was like, after a little while, when we started building the radio and the television, I found this card that was in my drawer the first

time I came to L.A. And it was a Resistor card and it told you different - if you made the combinations of a colour, it told you what their value was. And then I took it out of my drawer and I came into my room, and I started playing around with it. And I took that transistor and I saw the colour on it, and I put the colour on the chart and it gave me a value that was the exact value written in the book. And like everything at that second was so beautiful because everything started fitting together.

It was like what took us days to put together and find out what was what, the reason for it being there really started to fit together. And at that time premies, when I built that first oscilloscope, I tell you we had worked on it more than 200 hours at least, and still it doesn't work. I mean the first time we hooked it, it fired up. Smoke started coming out. And it's like at that point, it was very very easy for me to give up and say, forget it man. This is not even my line - I'm supposed to be driving down to L.A. you know, giving satsang to people. What am I doing with this, and I could have easily given up, I mean very very easily. But now, finally, when everything started fitting together and we started really going through everything, everything made sense - why it couldn't have worked, what was wrong, why it got fired, everything. And it's like premies, then it just turned out to be so beautiful because we were making - we just made this amplifier, it was a quadrophonic amplifier, and it's like we had to make it four times for each channel. And it was so beautiful because everything was fitting together beautifully, and we rigged it and it worked first time.

And it's like, this how it is premies, really. And the reason to make it so big, to give you the whole example is that some premies might be at the point of just giving up because nothing for them is fitting together -nothing at all. But remember, you got a few more steps to go and everything is going to start fitting together. When you dive in the ocean and touch the bottom, because you have got these big huge flippers on as soon as you touch the bottom all the sand starts coming and it's like a cloud almost, and you can't see anything. And at that point you can say, wait a minute, I can't see anything so I'm going up. And you can just go up and that's it. But if you wait just for a little while and let the sand settle back down, then it's so beautiful because the reason why you came you can accomplish. And this is one more example I give premies: if you are getting confused, that means this Knowledge is working for you, because all that confusing depository that you had that piled up on your mind - the Knowledge is coming and drilling it open, it's just taking all this confusion and throwing it up in the air. And so you know this Knowledge is working for you because it's just untangling the whole situation.

So you know, it's beautiful, it really is perfect, but you have to have patience, and really be able to meditate on this Knowledge. And then everything turns out to be very very beautiful. So, Durga Ji will you some satsang. And I understand that some premies have also come from New Zealand, and maybe some premies have also come from Sydney here. I don't know when I will be able to return to Australia, I hope soon but I don't know when.

So till I do, really really try to meditate, and really really try to practise this Knowledge because that's really beautiful. And I was also thinking, I was talking to David this morning and I think we have a very good chance of making the next Guru Puja in Australia. It's a very very nice plan. (Shouts of joy). But it really depends again on how big you can expand yourselves because if it is going to be in Australia, then I certainly would like all the premies from Japan, Hong Kong, those small little countries, New Zealand and Fiji and those other premies to be able to come to Australia

And so really, you know, meditate, try to understand this Knowledge, try to give satsang to other people and blast off. Just be able to explain to everybody what this Knowledge is, and they'll understand, really be able to recognise it. So premies, I hope that we are able to have the next Guru Puja in Australia as that'd be really beautiful for all the premies, also for Australia, and premies from Japan, they really need it. So, just try to understand, because understanding - this is the whole word you know, it's the name of the game. And if you can understand, beautiful. And if you can't, you know there is Mahatma Ji here and he can do a little bit. I don't know how much he can but he can do a good number. Because people sometimes don't understand the Knowledge when it's given to them. Maybe food is burning in the oven and they keep thinking about that; sitting there, receiving Knowledge, and have Mahatma Ji wasting all his time you know. And they come out and they say, I didn't understand anything and rush back home and get their food out; and they're so blown out by their food burning they forget what they received. And so really sometimes premies need a Knowledge review. I think he'll be more than happy to give you a Knowledge review. And that's why a Mahatma is permanently required, so he is able give Knowledge reviews to people, and able to give satsang and all that stuff. So, just try to understand that that's really what it is and if you do it you know, it's beautiful. Thank you very much.
