When we come together the love that manifests reminds us of our simple reason for receiving Knowledge - to have peace and happiness in our lives. What does the Pacific Guru Puja mean for us? It means a unique chance to serve Guru Maharaj Ji, to get to know each other through play and co-operation, to gain a greater insight into the personal link between devotee and Master.
Satsang given by Durga Ji in Caracas, Venezuela at the Guru Puja Festival July 25, 1975.
"When Guru Maharaj Ji gives us himself, he gives us everything. Then this whole world really means nothing. We can still live in this world, we can still experience this world, but once we've received Knowledge, we've received the most precious thing. And therefore, the whole world is ours, because we have everything. We have Guru Maharaj Ji."
6 It's You
"It's like, we have been sent here, and we are a special gang. Our mission is to destroy, to abolish, this crazy thing called mind, this crazy thing called confusion. We are here to abolish the crazy thing which is inside of us, which is like a parasite - this mind."
"You see, we can never tie down the Lord, the perfect thing, and expect him to do something. I'll give you three examples of three popular Perfect Masters: Christ, Ram, and Krishna."
" …the kingdom of heaven is here and now; that not only was he saying it but millions are experiencing heaven at Guru Maharaj Ji's feet."
"They are in heaven already. They don't think, they don't wish, they don't imagine, they don't desire to go in heaven because they are already in heaven …"
"Now our basic part will not be in such a manner like it has been happening. It will be more concentrated towards prachar. This community has been made to do prachar. Now, your major part is to go out and do prachar. And this is our first step."
Guru Maharaj Ji

It would be ideal if we could come away from this festival without breaking the Mission's stride. That is, the sooner we pay off our festival expenses, the sooner we can get back to propagating Knowledge to society in general. The festival itself is a marvellous piece of propagation because its organisation brings us into contact with many new people, and it offers us the inspiration of Guru Maharaj Ji's presence. But then we have to put that inspiration into action in a practical way.
This has been a most beautiful year for propagation."
In 1975 Divine Light Mission lost most of it's members, mainly in India where the great majority became followers of Rawat's eldest brother. However numbers also dropped dramatically in the "West" as the initial exciting bubble of growth imploded and early promises of personal perfection and social change were not realised.
