That One Love

Guru Maharaj Ji's satsang on the second night of Hans Jayanti, Rome, Italy, 9th November, 1977.

Dear premies, this is such a wonderful day. At least in my life, today is a very special day; today is a very wonderful day. Today's the birthday. Hans Jayanti is jayanti of Shri Maharaj Ji. And on that holy occasion, on such a wonderful occasion, we have been all able to come, all able to attend, all able to come from different parts of the world, to be able to celebrate, to be able to share the joy, the bliss, of this wonderful day, of this wonderful occasion.

Of course, today, in body, Shri Maharaj Ji really doesn't exist within us. But yet we know - and we can feel it, and we can understand, and we can really - well, quite clearly see, that the reason why he came in this world, the reason why he even got born into this world, the reason why he went from place to place, spreading this beautiful Word, spreading this very beautiful message to all people of the world, had no distinction. He had no reservations. He went to everybody, door to door, just telling them that they have this human life, and that in this human life it is possible to realize the purpose of this human life, to realize the goal of this human life. It is possible to merge with that oneness, to merge with that incredible thing, to become one with that ultimate.

And he went from door to door; he slept at railway stations. And maybe - you know, if you are from America, or maybe if you're from Italy, or from different parts of the country … of course in a lot of western places that doesn't make really any difference; they're very nice. Railway stations have lounges and so on and so forth, so it's not that bad. But not in India, not at that time - pretty terrible. What you end up with basically is these old benches, very, very uncomfortable; no sleeping place, hardly. You can sit up, or if you can't find a bench you've got to sleep on the floor, and the trains coming, and everybody just shouting and screaming. And very, very uncomfortable. But he went, and he travelled everywhere he could. If all he found was bread and salt and water, he contented himself just by that. Premies, just for one very, very simple reason.

And now, how lucky we are, really. How lucky are we that on this very day we can come here, and celebrate the jayanti, the memory, of such a person, of such a Perfect Master. And, premies, it's obvious what he was trying to tell the world. There is no doubt about it. That there is that peace, that there is that one love, that there is that thing that we seek in our lives today possible. Today, it's possible, today it's available. And this is why I think it's a very special day. And it's always going to be a very special day in my life when premies are going to be able to come together and I'll be able to give satsang to them. It's always going to be a very special day, because this is what we are all here for.

You know, in this world, man has advanced himself so far that he does not know his own bounds. Man has advanced himself so ahead of himself that he doesn not know where it all begins and where it all ends. Man does not understand where he is. Man does not understand what he has created. And yet, above all, has no time to even regret it. He can't even go back and say, "Wow, what have we done? Whatever happened to the simple little old world?"

You know, it's like, what was it? You know, just a beautiful Earth! And then we start coming in, and here we are! What have we done? Created this society, created that society, created more and more and more tanglements, and more and more entanglements, and tangled ourselves so bad, that it's like we have set up all these bear traps all over the place, and then we ran. And now we don't even have enough sense or brain or time to go back and just think for a second: "What did I do this for?" Man is in that pain, he is in that agony where he can - all he can think is to get the bear trap off his feet. To scream, to yell for help! Help! You know! And yet he just can't say, "But this is my doing. This is what I did. I went out and I laid all these bear traps and I ran right into them. And this is the consequence that I have to bear, that I have to withstand now."

And so this is the way, premies, it really is. This is the way it really exists right now. And yet there are so many religions, there are so many people who claim in this world that they can bring peace. There are so many people who say, "Well, this is the way, this is the definite way." But premies, to my understanding, there is only one way in this world, and that is Knowledge. Because it doesn't work in different things. It doesn't work on your whole character. It works where it should work. It works where the problem originates from. It works, and it destroys the source of that unhappiness that we have, that we get entangled with, in this life.

Because why are we really here? Why have we really come into this world? Why has God, why has that Creator, created so many fantastic, so many beautiful things for us? I mean, this is really a question. You know, it's like, we're so bound, we're so: "Rush, rush, rush. Run, run, run. Live it up. Do this. Do that." I mean, look at what people do from the time they get up until the time they go to sleep. It's just such a conscious thing that they keep on doing. And yet, they're unconscious about it. They have no control over it. You just see all these people just driving around, very, very frustrated. People just posing one problem after another problem after another problem. "No, this is wrong, and this is right. And this is wrong, and this is right." I mean, it's just like, where is this world going to?

It's very obvious. You could have said, or you could have maybe believed it to be true, that when the Anglo-French jet was made, the Concorde, it seemed like that is it. Of course it


was almost presented that way, that, "This is it! This is going to be the answer to all the problems." And so it was like this is really the right thing to do. And so they went ahead and they made this SST. And what is SST? What is this Supersonic Transport?

Well, first of all, you can go back and maybe you can read some history about airplanes and stuff like that. There used to be people who used to tie wings on themselves and jump off a cliff and try to fly. And then there were these guys who really got into it, who really said, "No, we can make this thing fly." And a lot of people didn't believe it that this thing really could fly. It flew! And it wouldn't fly: putt-putt-putt-putt-putt-putt. After a little while it would just sort of glide down. And then the whole era began and it went more and more and more, till it was the big trip off, "Wow, man, finally the man is going to cross the Atlantic with an airplane."

And it was such a thing: "This is what man is going to do." Maybe I wasn't there, so I don't remember what the guy said, but I'm pretty sure he got up and he said, "And this is the real breakthrough for mankind."'And what happened? Everywhere there was peace? Everywhere there was that tranquillity that people were looking for? There was the breakthrough for mankind? This is what mankind had been waiting for? For airplanes?

All the trouble that Ram went through, all the trouble that Krishna went through, all the trouble that Jesus went through - that's all people needed, was airplanes? But, no. It wasn't like that. And that's just one simple, little thing. That is just one simple reflection of people's own mind. And let me correct myself - and actually, I'm not correcting myself, I am telling you this - is that when I say mind, I mean mind, not your brain that has things going like this in it, all through here, and all tied up in a scalp on top, blood goes through it and turns on the adrenalin system, it thinks, sees, and stuff like that, for you. I'm talking about something that sort of hovers like a bee all around that area. It follows you wherever it goes, bugs you whenever it can, troubles you whenever it can, even in your quietest moment when you feel troubled, that little thing that does it is what I'm talking about. That's what I'm referring to as "mind".

And so, premies, that mind has brought us through so many, so many changes. And in every change and in every step, we have thought that, "Wow, this is really nice." I mean, you can hear the stories of Second World War, and it was just so incredible. Even in India, there were a lot of mahatmas who later became mahatmas but then they were in the British Army, and they had to go and they actually came to Italy, and they fought wars and stuff like that. And it was just such an incredible trip. Everybody was fighting. Everybody was into fight.

And I also saw that documentary where you see all these Japanese airplanes coming over Pearl Harbour and bombing it. And then you see all these other movies: It's such a thing where as soon as Pearl Harbour gets bombed and everybody gets a whiff of it, solid and strong, that Pearl Harbour got bombed, they show this one Japanese kid that used to come to this base station every day to work. Everybody just turned around and frowned at him, like he had done it. You know? And it's just like such a thing. And then finally when the Second World War ended, it was like, what a sense of relief.

Great. Incredible. Okay - so then? Everybody was really happy?

Yeah, well it was about the same kind of happiness as exists when you buy a new Rolls Royce. You buy a new Rolls Royce. You're very, very happy. Maybe you even go out and you call all your friends and you give a big party. The same old story; you've heard it. Of course, there's a lot of new premies sitting here who might not have heard it, so I'll tell it again.

So you buy a Rolls Royce, and you're very happy about it. If somebody touches the grill or something, you rub it with your elbow, clean it. And you're really happy about it so you get up on the phone and you call all your friends and you give a big party. Okay, that's very nice. You're very happy, and it shows that you are very happy because you gave a party! And the party just happens to be for a very specific occasion, and this specific occasion is that you got a Rolls Royce, a brand new Rolls Royce.

So now, on the second day you don't give a party. What happened? I mean, second day it's just that you don't do it. Because if really you are sincerely, sincerely happy, and if that happiness is really legitimate, then you will give a party for the rest of your lifetime, as long as you own that automobile. But, sincerely, it's only fly-by-night happiness, where it just comes, and walks off right away, just flies right away. And that's the kind of happiness that man does so much for!

"Let's have peace, let's have peace, and let's have -" How many times people have talked about peace! And then I ask you, how many times have there been wars in this world? I think if you were to weigh it, it would come out pretty even. People talk about peace; wars happen. People start talking about wars; peace starts happening. If peace starts happening, then the wars start happening. And it's a continuous cycle; it's a continuous, continuous, continuous cycle, where it just goes on, in that - even what people think, "This is right, this is right, this is right."

Sometimes I just really sit down and wonder about this intellectual society of people - man has gone to moon. Yes, it sounds all that incredible. But the way I just put it didn't sound all that terrific. If somebody just came up to you and said, "Man's gone to moon," you would say, "What?" And to me - okay, it was a great invention. Personally, I see all these documentaries with this Apollo going up and all this fire coming out the bottom of it, and it's just going "Pcchhh." It's very nice to see. It's a nice fire display, almost. But, what has it brought man?

Yes, it has brought a few things. It has probably brought LED watches, it has probably brought (LED watches are these watches, you press the button and they light up) and it has probably brought Nikad batteries. It's probably brought the space blanket you might have heard about, that little thin thing that just folds up and you can just carry it in your backpack. It's brought a lot of different things. But it hasn't brought one thing that man is really looking for, and that's peace.

That's what man is looking for. Truly, for whatever man is trying to do today, whatever things he is trying to accomplish today, he's really only trying to accomplish one thing.

Okay, now a lot of people might have these questions: "Well, why do you say that? What makes you so sure?" Well, the reason why I'm so sure about it is because I think that's the only thing that hasn't been accomplished yet: peace in this world. War has been accomplished. Total destruction has been accomplished. A lot of wars have been accomplished. A lot of corruption has been accomplished. A lot of population explosion has been accomplished.

But the thing that hasn't been accomplished - going to moon has been accomplished, then going to Mars has been accomplished - but one thing that really, really hasn't been accomplished is peace. So you start subtracting, you start deducting everything, you will reach to one conclusion: "Well, there's one thing that hasn't been accomplished."

And what gives peace such a priority to be accomplished is because every Perfect Master, every saint, every Perfect Master, every person even (let's put it that way), who came and who was motivated towards to Supreme Power in any way, has hinted that that's what we have to really accomplish: peace! And that's what makes me so sure. Because it's almost like, I think, within our lives that we all go through, it's almost like a super-miniature world that happens within inside of us, our dissatisfaction.

The incredible amount of reflection of dissatisfaction of people in this world today comes from one individual put together with another individual, put together with another individual, put together with another individual. One and one don't make two in this world, they make eleven. And it just multiplies in such an incredible way. And so, premies, this is what we are looking for.

And this is why we are here and we are celebrating this jayanti. Maybe, to a lot of people here, you have never seen Shri Maharaj Ji, though there is a picture right behind me, and you have seen that picture and you have seen pictures of Shri Maharaj Ji. What is that significance? It's that importance of what he did. Of him trying to reveal Knowledge to all the people in this world of what is very important, is why we are all here. To all come together, to be able to share that experience of satsang, to be able to share the joy of that satsang, of that darshan, of that Grace, is why we are really here. And that is why we have all come from every different part.

I mean, I can't even start naming all the countries. But I know there are people here from Italy, there are people from all of Europe, there are people here from India, there are people here from Nepal, there are people here from Ceylon, there are people here from Malaysia, there are people here from Australia, there are people here from, I mean, I can go around the world - from South America, from America, from Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan. There are people here from Canada, there are people here from Scotland, England, everywhere. You can go around the world. And what has really brought forth this Knowledge - and it's just like, day after day, day after day, day after day, I mean, it's just like so beautiful, those 12.9 people are receiving Knowledge every day. And that's every day. And those 12.9 people - that's not where it's going to stop. No way, you know? It's just going to go from there on, to even something that's more beautiful. Soon we'll be talking about 24.9 people, then there'll be 40, then it'll be 50, then it'll be 60, 70, 100, 200 - I mean, it's going to multiply. And why is it going to multiply? Because it's Truth. And the people who are sitting in this hall, now I can't speak for all of them, but I know a lot of you have experienced that Knowledge, have experienced that Truth, have experienced that Love that Knowledge really brings.

In our lives we have so many concepts. In our lives we are so tied down with our concepts: "Well, what is Knowledge?" Knowledge is an experience that is already within inside of us. It's like this, premies: Right now there's so many air frequencies going on. There's so many radio stations that are just playing all different kinds of songs in this auditorium, but we can't hear them. And when we have a transistor radio and we tune to that particular frequency, then we can hear it. We can hear that frequency. And that's exactly what happens. That experience of Knowledge is within inside of us, because that Knowledge is within inside of us. But we need Guru Maharaj Ji, we need Guru Maharaj Ji to be able to tune that so that we can hear it, so that we can feel it, so that we can emerge in it. And by Guru Maharaj Ji's Grace, and only by Guru Maharaj Ji's Grace, have we already reached to the experience of what we are, of what we have.

So, this Knowledge experience is really true. I mean it's just a very straight, and it's a very, very simple formula: two things cannot occupy the same space at the same time. And it's just very true. If you have a lamp post standing in the middle of the street, and you're driving along, and you hit it, either the lamp post is going to be there, or you're going to be there. Two things cannot occupy the same space at the same time.

So you know what that means? Either you can realize the realization of Knowledge, or you can be completely into your mind so much, that you don't know what's going on, that you don't know what any experience in this world is. And that's the way so many people are in this world. You look at it, what kind of life is that? I mean, people just so blindly get up. And I'm talking about - okay, so maybe they have to get up. and so all the premies even have to get up to come to satsang. So let's say they have to get up. Then they have to hop in cars or buses or whatever transportation has been provided. So do premies. They have to get up, and premies have to get in buses to come to this hall. Other people, they have to go to where they have to work. That's all fine. Okay? And even when you're back home, people who have jobs, you get up in the morning, you hide in a - you get in a bus or you get in your car and you drive to work. That's all fantastic, that's all great.

Then you go work, work, work, work. That's all great. So, so do premies. And then you have a lunch break and you eat, eat, eat. So do premies. And then you go back to work and work, work, work. So do premies. And then you come out of that work and you drive, drive, drive through the rush hour and everything else like that. So do premies. So what's the difference?

Well, the difference is, when you put premies like this together in one hall, there's something else that happens. When you put all the people of the world together in a hall like this, something else will happen. And what is that that makes that difference? And that difference is made by Knowledge. Maybe other symptoms, other signs … I'm pretty sure premies get mad. I'm pretty sure there are very few premies, I mean, maybe there are not very few, maybe there are quite a few premies out there who are just upset, just like anybody else would be. Maybe there are not. But, any of that - there's

something that we have realized within us, that changes the whole picture around. And so subtly. Ever so subtly.

It's like, in Denver a news article once said, "If you see a person, a young guy, with short hair, walking around in a nice suit, has a briefcase in his hand, and a really nice beautiful smile, he is a devotee of Guru Maharaj Ji." You know? But the thing is, anybody can smile. Anybody can smile. Smiling - I mean, if you get your lips cut, you'll always be smiling. But it's not that smile. This smile that we smile comes from somewhere within us, somewhere truly within us, somewhere where it really makes that difference, so that we can smile unconsciously. We can smile, truly. We can smile, without having to smile. You know, other people really have to smile, to smile. But we can smile without having to smile. Because that experience has been opened up within inside of us.

And today I know that this prachar is just going to go on. This propagation is just going to go on. And so many more brothers and sisters in this world are going to receive Knowledge. And why? It's a very simple deduction to me. I mean, what I am talking about, this is what satsang is all about. This is my experience that I'm talking about, is that this is the only answer. This is the way to focus into that one beautiful harmony that's really within inside of us. This is the way to come home to Guru Maharaj Ji, to that world of Guru Maharaj Ji.

There are so many different worlds that we can get. Well, there's the world of sports. And within the world of sports, there's the world of skiing, there's the world of tennis, then there is the world of this, and then there is the world of that. And there's all those kind of worlds. And I mean they really are worlds because they're very specific about it. I mean, you get into skiing, and you get into skiing! You get into car racing, and you get into car racing, period. You get into all these different sports, and you just get into it. There are these people who just play and play and play. I was talking about this yesterday, that this whole hall sort of looks like it was made for boxing. And right around where those premies are sitting in the centre over there, there would have been usually a boxing ring, and then everybody would have sat there and gone, "Punch, punch, punch, punch." Or there would have been a basketball, and of course we can see the scoreboards, to either side. Of course, now they say, "Devotees," and "Home" points. But otherwise they would usually say, "Visitors" and "Home". But this is it! This is what it's for!

And people really get into it. People really dedicate their lives to it, not knowing why! Not really understanding why. This guy, you can see him: "Why do you like to play football?", asks the interviewer.

"Well, I like to play football because it's just fun. It's just a great sport. And I just think everybody should play football." So you turn around to Muhammed Ali, "Yes, it's a very great sport. Everybody should box. It's good for your health, and it's good for your exercise, and it keeps you in good shape." I mean, you can go on. Maybe he doesn't say that, but, you can just go on and on and you can go into everything in this world.

And you know this is the funny part about it. Here we are sitting down and we are talking about all those things, not that we are trying to make a joke out of it, but to us, we have understood such a higher purpose in our life. We have under-

stood such a much more higher purpose in our life, that we can really see that, yes, okay, it's okay to play football or it's okay to play tennis, or it's okay to go skiing. But like that thing is another trip, period. And the same way, when maybe those people who are really into that kind of thing look at us, and they say, "Man, they're really into this religious kind of trip, God and dedicate and surrender and Guru and this and that," and then it's just like such ignorance people have.

Because I mean you read all these newspaper clippings and you read all these things and this is what it's all about: "And the Guru has this, and the Guru has that, and the Guru's Mission is this, and the Guru's Mission is that."

In Malibu, I was just reading this one magazine from England, from Britain, and it said, "It looks like the Mission of Guru Maharaj Ji, the Divine Light Mission, has sunken into obscurity." Now, I don't see that anywhere. It's just like, it's grown so much.

Because it's very, very easy to pull people off the street and just slap them with Knowledge: "Here kid, this is it. This is going to buy you a ticket to heaven." Or to have that true realization for every individual person that comes with sincere desire to seek for that experience. There's a lot of difference in between those two things. And I think that that's the way to go. Maybe it takes a little more time, you know, but it's a fraction of time, because if we put our effort into it, it's still possible. It's very possible. But it's just like, every person should experience that experience. And every person should really understand what that Knowledge is. And every person should really make that effort to surrender so that they can realize.

You know, there's just so many things in this world. And then it's just like a little boy, it's like, Hansi, for instance, trying to walk, you know, where it's just completely all rocky and muddy and gooey and sandy and everything. And he would fall down, definitely. But it's such a thing, and it's so beautiful:. that when he falls down, it really is his responsibility, because he decided to walk. When a child is walking by himself, wants to do something by himself, and he's walking and he's walking and he walks and he falls down, it is his own responsibility. And yet, when he turns to his mother or his father, they pick him up. It's not like they say, "It is your responsibility." No. They understand that he is naive in this world. And that is the way Guru Maharaj Ji is.

That we, in this completely devastating place, equipped with every kind of stone, every kind of trap that mind can possibly provide, are trying to walk on it, trying to get through with it. trying to get across it. And then sometimes we fall, and it's c own mistake, it's our own not trying hard enough, it's our own not sincerely going to where we really want to go, but just of trodding along. We fall, and yet we still look to Guru Maharaj Ji. And he picks us up, and he brings us to that realization again and again and again.

And yet it's just like a glass. The other day John Hampton and I were talking in the living room and I was giving him this example of where it is just like a glass. Higher that glass falls from, more it's going to shatter; and more it's going to shatter. harder it is going to become to put it together. And that's really the way it is. And when we go higher and higher and higher, more careful and more careful and more careful and


more careful and more careful we have to really become.

It's like when we are trying to climb the stairs, we climb the first stair - well, it's okay. Even if we fall, not much is going to happen. Maybe we might bruise our elbow or something like that. And then maybe we take the next step, and maybe it's a little more dangerous. But we take the next step, the next - but every step after that point we start to take, we start to take, it gets more dangerous and more dangerous and more dangerous. So when you start to climb those steps, you don't start looking down all the time and trying to climb upstairs. You don't constantly look down and just keep on climbing. No. When you start getting to that point, the more and more attentive you become, more and more precise you want to become, more and more aware you want to become, more and more you want to be there so you can put your full attention in there. You don't want to be thirty feet down, forty feet down, and you don't want to keep on looking up, you want to be there, so you can put your full concentration, full awareness, so that you won't fall.

And this is the way, premies, exactly the way it is. The higher and higher we go, we have to get out and be there, be aware, be more present, and be more in tune with that harmony, and give less chance, and more less chance and more less chance, and that chance has to constantly, constantly, progressively decrease, that we give to our mind. The chances that we give to our mind have to stop, because otherwise we are just subject to be just like a grain of sand. And when the wind blows, what can that one little particle of sand say? It's got to shift. And it shifts, and then it gets buried, and then another big hurricane comes or a big swell of wind comes and we get picked away and we get thrown over. What can we say? What can we do? We're lost!

But that is the way we will be if we are into our minds, so long as we keep placing that concentration within inside of that mind, of that little humming thing that's always constantly following us around, constantly bugging us, constantly trying to dis-attract us.

Because it's really true that when you're ironing, or when you're doing a normal thing, or whatever that normal thing is, your mind won't bother you. You're sitting, say, for instance, in the movies. You can watch that movie for three and a half hours straight and nothing will happen. Not one disturbance. You will be into it, you know, go through all the emotions of it. And I mean, there's so many things, and your mind won't bother you.

But as soon - I mean, after all, this is really a good thing to think about, it's a really good point to think about - what happens? How come all of a sudden all these things just completely explode and go everywhere? Your iron, your ironing all of a sudden starts burning. Your dishwasher all of a sudden is starting to get overheated. All of a sudden your - I mean, what is it? What is this unexplainable phenomena where - "Oh, I must have left my lights to my car on,"? Or, "Maybe my - the front door is open." Or, "Maybe my laundry is burning," or, I mean, all these things start coming in and start coming in, and start coming in. I mean, you have to really think about it. What is this phenomena? All of a sudden that office that you didn't think for Saturday and Sunday about, all of a sudden when you sit down for that Sunday evening meditation, it just all pours in. Why then? Why not Saturday morning? Or Saturday afternoon?

So premies, it's just like mind is just going to take us into all those directions. Mind is just going to pour that energy into all those directions. Because what is mind? Mind - nobody has seen mind. Nobody has touched mind. You can only feel mind. Because mind is the negativity. And this negativity is constantly present, just like, almost just buzzing around, buzzing around, buzzing around, buzzing around. And this negativity pulls us into that place where we come out of awareness to unawareness, where we become unaware of what we are really trying to do in this world. Of where we become, well, I wouldn't use the word "ignorant". But we become confused about what are we really here for.

I am not trying to say to this world, "Well, forget about automobiles. Forget about airplanes. Forget about big buildings. Forget about everything." No, no. These are man's own achievements. These are man's own doings, and they are not really the harm or the source of harmfulness. To me, what is more dangerous: a hand grenade, or the man who pulls the pin on it? To me, the person who pulls the pin on it is more dangerous than a hand grenade. Because what can that hand grenade do? But when you pull the pin on it, it can do a lot. It can explode! And that is the way it is, premies.

Almost everything that we have made (this chair, the fan, the microphone, and all these things) they're there. But if we become that Rolls Royce happiness, and want to pursue that, then our happiness is going to keep on changing, keep on changing, keep on changing, keep on changing, keep on changing. The thing is, what is bad? You? The objects in this world? Or your connection to them?

No, there's nothing wrong with you. You are a creation, and the Creator created you for a very specific purpose. And there is nothing wrong with what is already there. What's wrong is when that person so deeply becomes involved. Instead of becoming involved with that perfection, instead of getting involved with what he is really here for, he starts becoming involved with what he is not here for. When that becomes his sole commitment, when it becomes his sole life, then that's where danger comes, that's where harmness comes, that's where everything becomes harmful.

And only by Guru Maharaj Ji's Grace, and by his Grace only, can we experience this Knowledge, can we experience that experience. And once we have experienced that experience, then we can very easily, again by his Grace, de-motivate, de-activate ourselves. That one thing that is really supposed to be focused in on that incredible perfection can then be focused into that incredible perfection. And your body can still function normally, except with a nice, beautiful smile in this world, which people appreciate. And that's the difference. That's what happens. Such an evolution takes place.

And yet, to some people, nothing happens in their lives. And yet, when we receive that Knowledge, that first satsang in our lives, it's such an evolution in our lives. It's such an incredible thing.

Because I know that I was attending satsang programs since I was very little. And I didn't understand much. You know, you sit there and you just look around and play, or you go to sleep. But then, the more and more it started to register, the more


and more it started to make sense to me, more and more I really tried to appreciate what was being said. I mean, it's like, I started to notice. And I started to also see that: "Okay, it's all great, but where is my life at?" Well, where was my life at, at that time? My life was at a constant fear of: "What is going to happen tomorrow if you don't finish your homework?" You know? And it was just like a fear of Saturday. "Okay, really man, this is really nice. I've really got to plan this right, so I can enjoy Saturday." And, you know, we used to even have classes on Saturday. And it was like, okay, Saturday you study, and Sundays are really nice. You get up early in the morning on Sunday. And then as you could see the sun dropping down, it started to all like get so involved again, so involved again, so involved again, so involved: "Do your homework, do your homework, do your homework, do your homework, do your homework."

And that's not life. That's not a purpose of life. And maybe to some people it's like, that's not the age to even understand what the purpose of your life is. Well, when do your start? You are never too young to start going the right way. I mean, really, it's not mandatory, and I don't think it is mandatory, and if it is mandatory I think it should not be mandatory, that you have to first go the wrong way to go the right way later on. I think you can start from the right way; you can start from the right path. It's never too soon. And it's such a beautiful thing.

And so there were those questions. And maybe my problem was undersimplified to what people's problems there really is-because then it was okay. "If you don't do your homework, maybe you'll get thrown out of the class. Or maybe you will get a hundred lines to do. Or maybe you will get a beating on your hand." But today, if you become adult, you have a job or something. If you don't do your homework: "I might get fired. If I get fired, what's going to happen to me? What's going to happen to my apartment? What's going to happen to my car? What's going to happen to my wife? What's going to happen to my kids? What's going to happen to me?" And I mean, it just becomes such an incredible fear!

Now, why? It's the same thing. A little, simplified thing -now, so you didn't do your homework, big deal. When you were a little kid. As your size grows, the deals become bigger and bigger and bigger. And there is a reason for it. If you don't do your homework, you know, kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth grade, I guess it's not that crucial. You start getting to Senior Cambridge, and you stop doing your homework, you might not pass. If you don't pass, then there is another year that you have to spend studying again. And if you don't pass, then you might get bad records and stuff like that, and you might never get a job. You might never get a job to get involved like you want to get involved. And then once you get involved it's like this: First you're still on the runway, and it really is not that significant. Then slowly you start taxiing towards the take-off position. Okay, then you get on to the main active runway. And then, slowly you bring your throttles in, and it just gets more and more and more and more and more and more and more serious.

So you take off, and there you are at your youth, and you know, "I know want a job. And I want to live it up. And I want to do this, and I want to do that." Nobody talks about, "Wait a minute. Why am I here? What is the purpose in my life? Why has the Creator created me? Because creating me is not such an incredible thing He did, and yet it is. Because I'm just one person. I'm just a fraction of what He has created in this world."

And so premies, then it's just like - nobody talks about that, but it's just like, "Take off, man." And you get there and you get all leveled up, and you're just flying straight. And then it's just like, "Oh, fantastic. I've got a job, I've got a kid, and I've got a wife, and I've got a home, and I've got a - everything I need." And then, slowly and slowly and slowly: "But, I want a bigger house. I want a bigger car. I want this and I want that." And then slowly and slowly and slowly and slowly and slowly and slowly and slowly and slowly, you start coming down, down, down, down, down. And after that you're just down the hill. And you try to pull up on the steering wheel, you try to go up, you try to come up again. And it's just like you've lost. You're so far away, you're hundred and eighty degrees turned around to where you really want to be, to where you really want to go, to where you are actually going.

Then in our lives, somehow the incredible evolution begins, by our good luck or by our good faith, by our good fortune, whatever the name is, we hear satsang, hear our first satsang. And then, by Guru Maharaj Ji's Grace, we receive Knowledge. And then, it's just so beautiful that slowly and slowly and slowly and slowly it's just like, Guru Maharaj Ji is just like -we are just like these itty-bitty little X-14 jets that can fly really fast and fly really peppy, but they can run out of fuel very, very fast, and they start to come down and down and down and down. And it's just so beautiful, when all of a sudden Guru Maharaj Ji comes, which is just like this huge aircraft, this huge thing, and just opens up its belly doors, and just pulls that little airplane in, and it just holds him, you know, inside, and brings him to his world, where it's really beautiful, where it's just really perfect. Then there is no more burning of fuel, there is no more going down. You're just flying on that boat, you're sailing on that boat to go to Guru Maharaj Ji's world where it's just so beautiful, where you just don't have to bother about it.

The only thing you have to do, and it's just like I was saying in L.A., there are all these people who are on this boat, and this boat is really nice. It's big,- it's huge. It's comfortable. And you're not, of course, on it to be comfortable. You're only on it to get from one place to the other place. But it is comfortable; it's very beautiful. And really, this boat is really big. So it's really not going like this, and this, and this, and this. But then, I don't know what that is, your idiocity, or that little bumblebee that keeps following around behind you, or - I don't know what it is …. I guess I know what it is: mind. It just comes in, takes over, and you end up on the rail of this boat. And really, you could have just sat very comfortable an,- never gotten sick. And then all of a sudden you start thinking about barf bags. Then that grows to these big swells. And you start going a little green and a little queasy in your stomach. And for no reason apparently whatsoever, you just throw up' I mean, no reason whatsoever, you know. And then it's just like. you throw up and you say, "Awww, this is terrible." Because once you throw up, you throw up and it's just terrible! Then it's just sick and sick and sick and sick. And sickening. And then by your throwing up - you think that's the end of it? No, other people get a whiff of it, and then they start to get sick-And then more people get sick, and more people start to get a whiff of it.

And so premies, don't get sick, whatever you do. Because really, in truth, it is very smooth.

So it's just so beautiful to just think that - I mean, usually, at other programs, I wouldn't have to come today. I mean, I can't help thinking about this. I wouldn't have come today, because today would have been the darshan day. And then tomorrow would have been the good-bye night, and that would have been the end of it. And here we've had two days of satsang already, and tomorrow is the darshan day, and then there's still two more days!

So tomorrow is darshan, and just of what, well, I guess some of these guys here have calculated, it might take as long as twelve hours. So it's really important that all the premies really cooperate; and just really be in tune with it so that everybody will be able to have the darshan day. And I mean, a lot of people have suggested a lot of different things, but I think we'll just try to do it tomorrow. But you just have to be really, really cooperative. And I really ask for your cooperation, so it can go really nice and smooth.

I know that more and more of these programs are just going to be happening. And yet I can't really say it's our good - in one way, yes, it's our good opportunity, it's our own good fortune. But in another sense, it's a lot of Grace. It's a lot of Grace that has pulled this program together. And I know that a lot of premies who have come here from different parts of the world really know how this Grace is really pulling it together. And it's just like, you know, the Indian premies hadn't seen me for two and a half years, two years and six months. And finally it was just like, okay - and it was a very short time, and we just said, "Let's try to get some of the premies here. I know everybody can't come, but it would be really nice if some of the premies can come." And since that day, you know, it's just been working and working and working. And I guess it's more complicated to come out of India than anything else. So they have just been working, and a lot of premies came like three days before, and a lot of premies just came today, and there's still a lot of premies that want to come, and it's just like such a thing that is happening. And then there's, I know, so many premies coming from America and coming from Australia, and coming from South America, and coming from Canada. And they take one look at their checkbooks and they just go, "No way." You know, and then they would turn around and take one look at their assets and they say, "No way." But somehow I know - and I know it's a lot of Grace, because without that Grace, I know it definitely wouldn't have been possible.

I mean, just look at everything. Yesterday when I first came here, the news was - Bill Patterson was just standing there and he just said, "So, Maharaj Ji, it looks like, for today the sound system is out."

And I said, "Oh, boy, that's great. So what are you going to do?" But I was planning to come out here anyway.

And then, all of a sudden it was like, "Oh, wait a minute, maybe we can hook up this microphone to the P.A. system here." And I know that not everybody got to understand it, but somehow it all came together, you know? Just a lot of Grace. Because it was a short happening there, and people were afraid their sound system was burnt out or something like that, and this was burnt out. I mean, there was just a lot of stories. And that was the whole thing, you know. Two or three days before this whole program started it was like, "This hall's not big enough." And maybe it's not big enough, but somehow everybody's in here, enjoying themselves. And it's just like, I know that however this is happening, it's just by Grace. And it's happening, it's manifesting.

So premies, it's just so beautiful to be able to just come and to be able to have that opportunity to surrender. And it's just so beautiful to be able to do it, you know. Just maybe even once. Because I know it's very addicting once you have done it. And even just for once of we can do it, and just know what it's like to surrender, to let go, it's really beautiful.
