Guru Maharaj Ji: Holi '79Guru Maharaj Ji: Holi 79, Excerpt 7th April

So dear premies, it's a wonderful experience to just watch the whole thing happen from the stage. There were these guns and their consumption was -- I don't know, it always keeps changing. But approximately 500 gallons per minute. And it was like such a sophisticated system. For every thousand gallons there was a gallon of paint went out. And what a setup. Premies had been working and working at that stage. Maybe someday it'll be right. I think the fact that we were able to play for approximately three hours was, in itself, quite an achievement.

Everything just got a buildup for a longtime. The premies who had been working on that particular stage -- we had everything squared away, different designs, and how to work it out and what to do, and what kind of a system to put into it, the way the color system would work, and all those different factors. And then finally today was the day. And all those balloons went up. And that was a little bit too early when balloons were let go. So obviously a premie just asked to find out who the person was who was in charge of the balloons and before you know…

And I was downstairs under that walkway. All of a sudden, these balloons just took off. And it was really beautiful.

I mean you have come here from so many miles. So many, so many miles. There's one premie that I know that has come from India. There are premies who have come from South America, premies who have come from Australia -- what have you. And we all got together to play Holi, something that maybe doesn't even have any specific value or specific meaning to you in terms of what you had been taught however many years old you are. You know, years of what you believed in, what you saw, what you thought, what your concepts were all about.

And then the Holi begins. And it was just "Wha?"

Last night I turned on the radio and the guy was saying, "And there's a 35 percent chance of rain and it's going to be cloudy." And last night when we were driving it was getting cloudy. And I went, "Wow. Tomorrow everything just has to be right for Holi."

And I got up this morning and I peeked out of the window and it was just crystal clear. It was really beautiful. It was cold. Of course, I realized one thing. It always feels colder when you have your shirt on. Because I had my shirt on and it was cold. I took it off and it wasn't so cold. It has to be some physical law or something. Your shirt sits there all wet and the wind slaps it and it's like air conditioning.

Nevertheless -- and this is what I'm trying to say

- there were so many premies right next to the stage and then there were premies who were just sitting way back who didn't want to get wet. And I know on the sides there were premies who didn't want to get wet. And every time the spray would walk over that way, they'd run.

What I'm trying to say is that in this world this is exactly the way it is. Everybody in this world, not knowing, is yet very thirsty for that Creator, for that Perfect Master to come, to bring that peace and to bring that joy, to bring that happiness, to bring that tranquility that we all need. And we don't know that. We don't know that that's what a Perfect Master is

going to bring us. But a savior, obviously knowing the necessity of being saved …

It's like the prayer of the devotee, "Oh come, save us. Save me in this world." And Guru Maharaj Ji then comes. Guru Maharaj Ji -- okay, maybe there are some aspirants here and when I say "Guru Maharaj Ji" you might directly look at me and say, "He's talking about himself."

But no, I'm talking about Guru Maharaj Ji.

What does Guru Maharaj Ji mean? Guru -- the revealer of light. Gu. Darkness. Ru. Light. One who takes us away from the darkness and brings us to light is Guru. Guru Maharaj. Maha. The ultimate. Raj. The ruler. The ultimate ruler. Guru Maharaj. (And Ji is an expression like sir or Mr.) Guru Maharaj Ji.

And there is a very particular definition. Guru Maharaj Ji does not fall into any category of noun, because it is not noun. Anybody may not become Guru Maharaj Ji, period. It is not like Michael. Anybody may be Michael. But that is definitely not the case with Guru Maharaj Ji. Anybody is not Guru Maharaj Ji. Anybody just cannot become Guru Maharaj Ji. It is Guru Maharaj Ji himself that is Guru Maharaj Ji. And the word is a title for an action. Guru Maharaj Ji will only be called Guru Maharaj Ji when he actually does what the word says: reveal the Light and take away the darkness. Only then will they understand.

And Guru Maharaj Ji comes in this world, every time. Jesus came. Mohammed came. Guru Nanak came. Shri Maharaj Ji came. Guru Maharaj Ji. For devotees, everything. God is a myth. Guru isn't. Because in the whole realm of "God" there can be people who believe in God and don't believe in God. But in the case of Guru Maharaj Ji, it isn't like that.

And then going back to the example of the water guns, it so obviously clear. Why were the premies who did not want to get wet sitting where they were? The answer is very simple. They knew the gun wouldn't reach there. The water wouldn't

reach there. And therefore if they wanted to be dry there was a safe place to be. But if they knew the water was going to get there, what would have been the purpose of them being there?

It's the same way in our lives. I'm not saying that those premies who didn't get wet were naughty premies. That's fine. You don't want to get wet, that's okay. But it's just an example.

That's what happens to us. We know that Guru Maharaj Ji is only going to manifest if we make that effort. And if we don't, we're safe.

Guru Maharaj Ji comes into this world. There are devotees. Because, tell me. Is there a possibility that

people need not be saved? That is not a phenomenon. That is impossible. People of this world always need to be saved from their mind, from their ego, from their hesitation, from their confusion, from their trips. After all, look at how many kinds of trips there are in this world and what man has created.

And looking at the theory of Adam and Eve, they were poor little creatures who didn't know what was going on. They didn't talk. From that, to this, is something to think about. You have Russian, Chinese, Hindi. Every state in India speaks a different language. And I cannot understand the native language of people three hours away by plane. It changes completely.

And if a man conquers all those languages, he's great. Why? What for? And for all this that we have created seems to us quite normal. But is it? Or is it in fact obscene? I mean, what is it? What is it all about? To be alive. What is it to be alive? What is life? What is it all about? You get born, you go to school. Your memories, your recollections of those memories -- is that your life? Or the ones sitting here who have been to college? Is that you? Are you Harvard? No. Who are you and what are you?

All the concepts that were fed into our brain from when we are very, very little. Obviously it's all fed into us. Normal: Abnormal. Did God come in this world and say, "Whoever will do this, this and this, is abnormal, and who will do that and that is normal? On the contrary. The things that people thought were absolutely abnormal, the Lord showed that that was quite normal …

You know, Guru Maharaj Ji really doesn't exist. Guru Maharaj Ji only exists for premies. Because they are the only ones who can call him Guru Maharaj Ji. Period. They are the only ones entitled, the only ones who know what it means and the only ones who know who he is, and who know who to call Guru Maharaj Ji. That's all. Otherwise, Guru Maharaj Ji is totally nonexistent.
