The Importance of Self-Knowledge and Reading the Book of the Heart
Edited excerpt, Maharaji in Mar del Plata, 5th June 1999

All I can do is tell you about the wonderful opportunity we have. And mine are not just empty words, because I back what I say with an incredible gift of Knowledge. I don't quote from the scriptures because I don't need to. I have read the book of the heart and all my quotations come from there. It's a wonderful book. It has no ending page, and it has no beginning page. The day I took my breath, the book was placed before me. When I gained my consciousness of where I could accept and feel, I started flipping the pages. I would have forgotten, but my master reminded me that everything I need to know is in this book. When I read the book, that's where the thirst for Knowledge came. That's where the understanding for Knowledge came. And whatever has happened in my life, I keep reading the book of hearts.

I know I'm not the only one with this book. I know every human being on the face of this earth has their own. I recommend you read yours. It's really fascinating reading. It's better than any novels, and it's better than any of the new stuff out on the market. This one is the best of the best of the best. You will find it amazing. It has never had a correction. No revision, no updates, nothing. It's held true since the day it was written.

Even when I am gone, I know somehow this book of hearts is going to survive. I don't know how, but it's going to survive. Because it goes on and on and on. Truly, forever. So, read your book. Do some reading. And if you can't see, if you don't know where it is, then put on the spectacles of Knowledge and you will be able to see clearly every word that is written in the book.
