Maharaji in Tokyo, 11-12th June 2001 E25R

Once again, at least for me, it's an opportunity to express what this heart feels. And an opportunity for you to listen and understand maybe a little bit more about this existence. Because right now, as we are, and as we are alive, so many things are happening. And we're interested in all of those things. Maybe there's our relatives, maybe there's our job, and all the situations. And last night, I was thinking that eventually, one of the fates that we all have to go through is that this existence comes to an end. And when this existence comes to an end, what actually comes to an end that ends it? What is it? Is it that your uncle says, you're not my nephew anymore, and this life ends? No. It's not like your bank tells you, well, we're not going to give you the loan, and your life ends. It's not like somebody else comes to you and says, I want to see you again, and your life ends. It's in fact a very simple and very profound process. And the three things that dance in this balance, the breath, the consciousness, and then nothing. A person may be lying there, still be able to breathe, but no consciousness. It's gone. It's finished. And maybe they even plug the person into a machine, and the machine breathes for them, but no consciousness. And at that point, if you were to just simply pull the plug, that's it. We all go around pulling plugs, and we think twice about it. Do you know it even looks like it? Standard household plug. It's nothing special. Nothing special. Because you see, in truth, we are this breath.

We are this consciousness. And if this is taken away from us, we are nothing. And so, to focus on that in our reality, whilst we are alive, whilst we have the consciousness, to worship, to worship these things that allow us to exist. To accept, because those are the things that are taken out the last. And when they are gone, we are no more. And they have to be the most important. Most important. Some people say that this life is like walking a tightrope. And this is the one I like. Tightrope. Point A. Point B. Just a rope. Go from here to here. What's here? What's here? What's on this side? What's on the other side? Now that's what I'd like to talk about. So, a person finds themselves in ignorance, and they yearn Knowledge. That's the other side. A person finds themselves in a doubt, a person yearns clarity. That's on the other side. A person finds themselves in pain, and they yearn joy. You see, it's no mistake. It's not a mistake. It is as simple as this human reaction that you all have when you touch something hot.

You go, oops. Hmm? This way. Not this way. If your finger goes into fire, you go, hmm. It's this way. Away from it. And when we feel the pain, that's the reaction. Get me out. Away. Not into, but away from the pain. That is wisdom. You want to know what wisdom is? That's wisdom. That's the wisest thing there is. That you suffer, and you want to come out of the suffering. That you feel darkness, you want to come out of darkness. Light. You feel sorrow, you want to go towards joy. Joy does not have the same reaction. This is wisdom. This is what wisdom is all about. What am I made out of? These atoms, these molecules running around.

Do you think they're any different than an eggplant? Huh? You think so? Some came together, made that eggplant. Some came together, made me. Now you think there's a difference between me and the eggplant? That's the great mystery. Because some people are walking eggplants. These eggplants can talk, and these eggplants can walk, but there is no difference. They came empty-handed into this world, they're going to leave empty-handed in this world. They do not know the difference between joy and sorrow. They do not know the difference between Knowledge and ignorance. They do not know the difference between darkness and light. And like the silly dog that tries to chase its own tail. Like the silly dog that looks at the mirror and barks at its own reflection. That's the way they are. Not passing judgment. So be it. Choice has been given. You can be a walking eggplant. It's perfectly acceptable. Whether it is acceptable to your heart, whether it is acceptable to your nature, that's another story, and you have to feel. You have to feel in your life the urge to walk this rope. But if you do decide, get a balancing rod. Because you're going to need it.

Something to balance. Why? Because the gravity is going to be saying, you, down here. Your heart is saying, me, over there. And gravity will say, me, you, down here. To overcome, you need the balancing rod. To stabilize you. Why? Because you will make mistakes. And when you do, this balancing rod will take them out. When you lose, or you start to lose your balance, you can lean with this balancing rod, and it will help bring your balance back in. However, each step that you take must be precise and deliberate. You are not left without the tools. To create the urge, you have been given the thirst. To push you along this journey, you have been given a heart. You have been given a heart. And to take each step precisely, so you may do that, you have been given consciousness. And if you do decide to take this little trip, then there is no greater balancing rod than this Knowledge. Because this Knowledge is the most beautiful, most stable balancing rod there is. And so take it. There are people who want to give you scenarios of why you should do this. The only master, the real master, will tell you how you can do this. Not theories.

Well, you know, why should we have to take this journey? Master says, ask me why. You came to me, not me to you. You figure out why you want to take the journey. You understand your nature. And if you want to take the journey, if you want to get across, I know how, and I can tell you how. I can teach you how. I can give you the balancing rod. I can give you the equipment that you need to make this journey possible. No theories. I'm not talking about theories. It's so beautiful. It's so beautiful. It is so incredibly beautiful. To talk about what the heart wants and have it. It is so incredibly beautiful. To talk about this life and to be able to fulfill it. There are many people who like to try, who try to talk like this. Oh man, they try. But when you finally say, okay, give me the balancing rod, they have one. And that's when they go... And you go, what did you say? What did you say? It's okay. Substance.

Everything that I speak about in this life. When I speak about fulfillment, I'm not talking about a hypothesis. It's a reality. It's possible. In this day and age. In this day and age, a human being can be content. In this day and age, it is possible to capture each day. To capture it. Save it. Because it comes, and it goes. I awaken, and it's there. It's my day. It's my day. Oh no, no, I'm not talking about a certain time. Especially when you travel, as much as I do, you go through time zones. It has nothing to do with time. So you wake up. You're up, you're awake. The day is there. Then, go to sleep, and it's gone. Gone.

And another one will come. It does. Till one day, no more. Listen to your heart. Accept that beauty in your life. See where it takes you. Trust. We take the gift of trust, and where do we place it? In our car. Is it worthy? No. No. We take the gift of trust, and where do we place it? In our cat. Is it worthy? No. Trust. The trustworthy. We have been given the gift of love, and where do we place it? In our refrigerator. I love my refrigerator. People say that. I love my car. I love my refrigerator. I love my watch. What can you love? Begin to love that.

That one day will be the dearest to you. Do you know of anything that will be the dearest to you? Remember that. What is important now? If you do, nobody can take away. Nobody can take away. You see, the bowl is yours. And what's in the bowl is also yours. So if this bowl is full of joy, if this bowl is full of love, if this bowl is full of gratitude, it's yours. It's yours. If this bowl is full of garbage, if this bowl is full of sorrow, if this bowl is full of pain, It's yours. How long? Forever. How do you know this bowl will be full of joy then? Fill it now. Now. With joy. And know that there's joy in it because you have tasted it and liked it and enjoyed it. No mystery. Fill it with love that touches your heart and that fulfills the possibility of life. listen to tomorrow. It never really seems to come. But now is now. It's here. Deal in this life with knowns, not unknowns.

You know, this is what the mind says. Master deals with things that are unknown. It's not true. It is in fact this thing that deals with complete unknowns. And master deals with knowns. Master says, no, feel it so you know. This thing says the water is hot because you turned the hot water. Master says, feel it. See? See? It's hot! This thing says no, but you see you turned on the red knob, so it must be hot. That happened to me once. I was in this hotel. I was gonna take a shower and I turned on the knob. Cold water. No, it'll get warm. After like three minutes, it's still cold. What's wrong? So I turned off the warm water or the hot knob and turned on the cold. Hot water. Why? Because I felt it. Not a theory. I felt it. Let your life be like that and enjoy. Thank you very much, and I hope I'll see you soon.
