Words of Peace Maharaji: Simple as Breath 2005 E091

Prem Rawat, widely known by the honorary title Maharaji, has been traveling the world for more than 30 years, bringing a unique message of peace. He gave his first public addresses at the age of three, and by the age of 13, he was responding to invitations to speak in the United States and Great Britain [as Guru Maharaj Ji, The Lord of the Universe]. His message is from the heart. He speaks about the possibility for each person to find peace within, regardless of circumstances. Addressing a distinguished audience at the invitation of the United Nations Association of Malaysia, he recently said, Through the Prem Rawat Foundation, he also spearheads significant humanitarian initiatives [rubbish:: TPRF gives aid of $0.5 million p.a.] aimed at improving the lives of people most in need. From large cities to remote villages, millions of people around the world come to him for inspiration and guidance. Even as his audiences increase, Prem Rawat's message remains directed to each individual. If you are looking for fulfillment and peace, he says, the solution lies within. If that is what you want, I can help.

(awful, intrusive background music) This breath that comes and dances within you is simple, is precious, and is beautiful. This existence that you have, your ability to be able to understand, your ability to be able to see, to be able to hear, to be able to feel, are some of the very precious gifts that have been given to you.

When I feel alive, when I feel this breath, when I feel this existence, when I feel this life, there is a clarity. I have answers. Questions are gone. Questions are gone. I have answers. I know. And all I have to do is know in my being that this breath is the most beautiful for me. For me. This is how I am. This is who I am. People ask that question, who am I? Keep asking that question and I guarantee you, you will never get the answer. Because there are people who are still asking that question. They're happy. Who are you? You are meant to be the lover of life. You are meant to be the lover of light. You are meant to be the lover of this existence. You are meant to be the lover of clarity. You are meant to be the lover of this beautiful magic that is taking place in this heart. This is who you are meant to be. Anything else? Does not and will not suit you.

It is like a moth trying to change its habit. The moth is attracted to that light. This is how it navigates. This is how it gets around. Looks at the moonlight and goes for it. Sees another light, gets confused. And so the moth has decided, ah, you know what? I'm going to change my nature. I will no longer be attracted to light. And yet, big eyes. What is it to do? It opens them and what does it see? Light. At night, what else is it going to see? What else is it going to see? It is its nature. This is what it is made for. So then, singular, singular is your nature too. www.mooji.org

Same thing has to happen. Yes. So many people hesitate. Somebody asked me this question. I still think about it. I still do. And I chuckle. Because I was talking about remembering this breath and remembering every breath. And this gentleman asked me, he said, is it really possible? And my answer was, we could try. What is possible and what is impossible? A person who is only looking at that, what is possible and what is impossible, stuck. Stuck. Stuck. And the person who says, well, guess what? I'm going to try. They go. They get to move on. They get to experience that. They get to feel it. They get to try. They get to experience life. They get to make the remembrance of this breath a second nature in their existence. They get to enjoy that fact. They get to enjoy being alive. They get to dance. They get, they get, they get to dance. This dance of existence. They get to. Because they tried. They tried. For more information visit www.osho.com

Is it really possible to remember every breath? Is it?

Gold is raining. Nice bars, about that big, about this thick. They're raining. And everywhere you look, it's raining gold bars. And now it's stopped. And everywhere you look, for miles and miles and miles, there's this beautiful golden hue, because all these bars are lying there. And you're going to stand there and go, well, you know, I can't pick up all those bars. So, I'm going back to bed. Would you? As many as you can. As many as you can. As quickly as you can. You will gather. You will gather. Because you know the value. When you know the value of, like you know the value of that gold, this question of is it really possible does not come into play, because where does this question come from?

I'm talking about his breath, not mine. I'm not telling him to remember my breath. I'm telling him to remember his breath. Because genuinely speaking, very logically, plain, simple, cold, logical fact, this is all I got that's really mine. This is it. I can pretend I have this and I have that. And oh yeah, that's mine too, and that's mine too, and that's mine. You know, I have shoes. You wear them, you wear them, you wear them. And these ones particularly are good. And they get old, they get beaten, they get torn, they get retired. Such is not the case with breath, by the way. You buy a piece of bread and it gets stale and it gets mold on it and you throw it away. Such is not the case with this breath. Copyright © 2020, New Thinking Allowed Foundation

You should be as certain as your breath. Is your breath certain? Day and night, morning and evening, coming and going, coming and going. Tell me, you've all heard this word reliable. And you like that, you? You like reliable car. You like a reliable TV. You like reliable friends. But you also know that the car gets older and older and becomes unreliable. You know TV is not reliable, even when it's working, it's not reliable. And your friends, well, sometimes they are, sometimes they're not.

So you boast of how you love reliability. Now tell me, then you must really love your breath. Because it's one thing that's incredibly reliable.

It's been there, been there, been there, and been there, and been there, and been there, and been there. In fact, you must be in love with it. So much trust. Look at your breath and tell me if that does not redefine trust for you. Trust, day in, day out, day in, day out, sweetly, unpretentious, no trumpets, no cards, no finicking, no saying, well, hmm, I am. No, comes, comes, goes, comes again, goes again, comes again, goes again. Sweet, simple beauty. Sweet, simple reliability. Sweet, simple trust. You want tranquility? Then open your arms. Then open your arms. And let in this beautiful thing. Accept, embrace, and enjoy. This is enjoyable. If you could find enjoyment in your breath, you think you would be without enjoyment wherever you went? Where could you go where you wouldn't be able to enjoy? There it is. Within you, all those things that you like, and within you, that which is most admirable. Then begin to admire the most admirable. It is time in your life. It doesn't matter how young you are or old you are. A life should not be measured by time. This is a mistake. Mistake. One, after you get 50, you want to do it anyways. How old are you? Oh, you mean I'm 50 years young? No, you're 50 years old. A human being should judge their existence, not by years, but by the level of fulfillment.

Why you begin to swing in this life? Why you begin to see life's simplicity? And my God, I'm not talking about that there is a finishing line and one day you will receive an award, you will receive a cup, you will receive a certificate saying, here goes a human being who has accomplished this. No. You get to try. It is a privilege that you get to try. It is a privilege that you get to have joy in your life. It is a privilege that you get to be fulfilled. And I say to you that that's your potential. To be fulfilled. This is something you can do. You have to go to university to do it. And you can go to university and still do it. You have to become a doctor to do it. And you can be a doctor and still do it. You have to be educated to do it. But you can be educated and still do it. Because it is the core, it is your basics, it is your fundamentals that I am talking to you about. I'm talking to you about this breath, about this connection, about this connection to your existence. What can I do that will be with me till the very end? What?

There's only one thing that'll be there till the very end. And it is the simple breath. Because in fact, it is the passing of the breath that will dictate when I am no more. And it was coming of this breath that triggered the change in me.

The baby comes out. It's not breathing yet. Blue. Being totally supported by the mother through the umbilical cord. You can't cut the umbilical cord yet. Must remain. And that doctor and everybody in the room, everybody in the room is focused on one thing. And you know what that is? No. It's not the genitals. Is it a boy or a girl? Is it a boy or a girl? Take that breath. And in fact, when that baby takes that breath, the air comes into that child, the air comes into that baby, and the color begins to change from blue to a beautiful pink. And then, the signals are sent. I am on my own. This supply of blood, of nourishment that I have been having, is no longer needed. And then, it begins to wane. Now it is safe to cut the umbilical cord. That breath has come. And will come again. And will go. And will come again. And will go. And will come again. And will go. And that will be the most certain thing in that child's life. It won't be that that child will always smile. No. And it won't be that that child will always be happy. No. And it won't be that that child will always be successful. No. Ahead of him or her lies an incredibly rough path of trials and tribulations. Goods and bads. And rights and wrongs. And lessons learned. And lessons forgotten. And learned again to be forgotten again. And to repeat the mistakes. And sometimes, this being will be brilliant. And sometimes, it will be the dumbest thing on the face of this earth.

And this child will sometimes laugh out loud because of happiness. And sometimes, this child is going to cry from a sadness unparalleled. And sometimes, this child will feel incredibly rich. And sometimes, this child will feel incredibly poor. Sometimes, this child will feel incredibly wanted. And sometimes, this child will feel incredibly abandoned. Sometimes this child will feel like he or she is the richest person on the face of this earth. And sometimes this child will feel it is the poorest. Sometimes this child will feel like he or she is the god. And sometimes this child will look for God in desperation. Storms will come, and the child will slow down. Sun will shine. The child will pick up his or her head, look out, sometimes feel thankful, sometimes feel resentful, sometimes feel love, sometimes feel hate. This child will search, sometimes will succeed, sometimes fail. What a journey. What a journey. What an incredible journey. And there will be nobody and nothing to make this child take the steps that he or she needs to take. Parents will be there, God willing, but they can't take the steps. you ever believe that those kids who have parents feel bewilderment, feel lonely, feel sad. That's not true. But do you know something? Through this journey, through these rocks, through these mountains, through the snow, through the desert, through the floods, as this child will walk, wherever this child will go, there will be the gift of breath right there. That's the only thing. That's the only thing.

Wherever you go, to which corner of the earth you go, day, night, in sadness, in happiness, good and bad, right and wrong, in rejection, in acceptance, in day, in night, whether it is sunny, wish, or it's raining, either it's warm, we all wish, or it's cold, there it is, there it is, and it is one thing and the only thing that you will have the most of in your life. Talk about abundance. It is the most abundant. It is also crucial. It is also unwavering, and it is the most unchanging. Unchanging.

Eyesight goes. It does. Hearing starts to wane. Slowly and slowly. Huh? Huh? Taste. Not as sharp. Smell, not as sharp. Things. This is it. This is the nature of this body. It has a very definite curve to it. Incredibly definite curve. No plateau. No plateau. You get a plateau. Starts off very hard to do things, then gets a little better, and a little better, and a little better, and a little better, and a little better, and then it gets quite good. Quite good. And about that time it begins to wane. And slowly and slowly. And it is so slow. Doesn't happen overnight. Hard to perceive. It's a nice round curve on the graph, and it just goes on till it goes back to zero. Like an arc. Perfectly smooth. And one day, that's it. That gets everybody. That gets everybody. Oh my God. I want to talk about that day.. Yesterday I was listening to the radio, and somebody said, and you know, that death came as a surprise. And I said, what? What are you talking about? You would have to be the most ignorant person on the face of, well, not just Earth, in the universe, if that surprised you. Because it's obvious. It is so incredible. There's those two most important days. One has already taken place. Other one remains. Thank God. And between these two, that's it. It's called existence. Here you are. Here you are.

Days will come, and days will go, and buried in those days, buried in those days are two days incredibly important. One is the day you came, and buried in those days was that day. Days have been coming on the face of this earth for a very long time, and somewhere, in billions and billions worth of those days, one day, one, just one, was the day you came and buried in the billions and billions and billions of days. So one day we have to go. The funny thing about these two days is between them constitutes your existence. As unaware you were of the day that you were to come, so you will be of the day you have to go. Why is it mysterious? So you wouldn't have to worry about it. So you could pay attention to something else that's more pressing. Because there isn't a choice of those days. You have a choice of those two days. But of the rest of the days you have a choice. Hide those two and you get a choice. Make the two obvious and you're going to feel like you have no choice. And here is your choice. Then choose and choose wisely. Choose and choose from the heart. Choose and choose joy. I am telling you this. Choose joy. You were made for it. You were made for it. Choose. Not the darkness of ambiguity. Not the darkness of uncertainty. But choose the light of certainty. So now let me ask you. What is certain? What is the most certain thing in your existence? I'll tell you. It's your breath. That's it. Nothing else is. Nothing. Nothing. Your job. Forget it. Your promotion.

God willing. God willing. God willing. You keep saying that enough you wake up one day and you just realize how unwilling God is. It's like, I mean, in people's concept God must be the richest person. But he's very, very, very guarded about the money. Incredible, you think? I mean, somebody who has that incredible generosity. So generous and so much of it. And also knows that if one person in this whole world, universe, who doesn't need money is God. And probably has tons of it. I mean, it could be very generous, you know. But, and people say God willing, God willing. When you realize how unwilling God is about that. Because that's not what it's about.

Generosity has been exercised. And the most precious has been given. And that is this breath. And in this world of incredible uncertainty. Certainty has been dished out in the form of this breath. Do you want to change your world? Get with it. Start accepting the breath. Start feeling the breath. Start listening to this heart. Start dancing that dance. And believe me, everything will change for the better. And that's the possibility. Thank you.
