Maharaji in Dallas PWK-011 January 13, 2007
Happy New Year, everyone. A lot to say. A lot to say about something very, very simple. That you are alive. That's it. And because you're alive, there are amazing possibilities. Now, you know, people are sitting there going, well, we've heard that before. You've mentioned that before. You've said that before. Well, I'll share with you an experience I had. I've been very busy. Going all over the place. Here, there, everywhere. Not doing events, but doing something else. And one day, I was quite tired in the afternoon, so I turned on the TV in my office. I was sitting on the chair. And I was flipping through the channels, and I came across this one channel. And I like this particular channel, so I started watching. And it was a show, a documentary. And the name of the documentary was Death of the Sun. Not somebody's offspring, but the sun. And I was like, this will be interesting, you know. Let's watch this. And it was very interesting.
And why was it interesting? Because the graphics on it were stunning. And they were talking about what will happen to the sun. One, the sun is brighter now than it used to be a few hundred years ago, or a few thousand years ago, or a few million years ago. And the reason is because it's burning up. And as it's burning up, it's tapping into more and more of its inner gases. Which is also causing it to expand. So I'm sitting there, tired, and I'm watching this. And it's like, whoa! And then they showed what it'll be like. And there's the sun, and it's so big, it has grown so big, that when you look up from the earth, this is what they were showing, that when you look up from the earth and look up at the sky, you won't see anything blue. You'll just see a massive red sun. Glowing. And of course, by this time, life on earth will be gone. Oceans will be dry. And of course, around this time, the sun will start, because it's become so big, it'll start pulling other planets. Jupiter, Mercury, gone. Earth, possibly could escape, but not likely. And it would be gone. So, at that point, when the documentary was over, I turned off the TV. closed my eyes. And I started to think, that everything we do, everything that we do, has some implication for tomorrow. We go to sleep, we'd like to wake up.
And when that wake up is going to be happening is mañana, tomorrow. We eat, hungry today, we eat, but we eat in a way that has some implication for the future. I want to eat this, this makes me feel sick afterward. Or I'm looking forward to a big dinner, so I'm going to have a light snack. To live, to exist. Some implication of tomorrow, the job, going somewhere, coming from somewhere, doing something, talking to somebody. All our plans. Most things we do have that implication for tomorrow. And indeed, the entire humanity doing something that will manifest mañana, tomorrow, day after tomorrow, hundred years from tomorrow, ten years from tomorrow. So put it in perspective, here's this entire humanity, humanity, as we know it, on planet Earth, and we're going down a road. And definitely going down a road. Is that a good road, bad road? I'm not here to pass that judgment. But we're going down a road. Happily going down a road? Well, some people are happily going down the road. Some people are very unhappily going down the road. Being dragged on the road. But the humanity is going down a road. Unbeknown And you know, this is the thing of obvious. You know. You know about your mortality. But it is not obvious to you.
Being, that becoming obvious is the shocking part. That's when people get shocked, when it becomes obvious. So here, on this road, as this whole humanity is marching, there is something coming down the other way. And not it's going to. Not that it could. Not that there is a possibility. No. It is afoot. The destruction of the sun is afoot. It is right now in the process of doing that. And after having watched that documentary, the word future was very wavy and twisty and what? That one day, this isn't going to happen tomorrow. I'm not a doomsday guy. I mean, this is supposed to take 500 billion years or whatever to happen. But it is going to happen. It is afoot. And so, what does this mean to you and I? This beautiful earth, gorgeous earth, incredible earth will no longer be. What does it mean? It means, it means that every day that you have, that every day that you have must be taken. Not lightly. You know, I know there are people that go, but Maharaji, you know, it's impractical. Watch this video. Please. Put it in perspective for you. The perspective for me was this is not a calendar where you rip out January and underlying it is February and take off February and underlying it is March and then April and then when it's over it'll be Happy New Year and you get a new calendar. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Ultimately speaking, there cannot be a compromise in your existence. None.
To me, it's like you're sitting in a train, and you order a tomato sandwich, and you're arguing with the waiter that there's no tomato in the tomato sandwich. Somebody behind you is looking forward and seeing another train coming on the same track, and also has this one information that the brakes on this particular train have failed, and so have they on the other one. And they're both coming really, really fast, and taps you on the shoulder and says, let go of the tomato thing. And you're sitting there like, no. I ordered a tomato sandwich. I shall get a tomato sandwich. What do they think they are doing? This is false advertising. I paid for a tomato sandwich. I am going to get a tomato sandwich. nd the other guy is like, listen, just let go of the tomato thing. You need to get out of here. No.
Who's wrong? Who's wrong? The thing is, none of those two people are wrong. It's a matter of information. What do you know? Not think. Not believe. Not idealize. What do you know? That other person knows we're going to hit, and it's going to be a mess. And tomato or no tomato, it's insignificant. Whilst to the other guy, he doesn't know that. He doesn't know we're going to hit. All he knows is he ordered a tomato sandwich, and tomato is the most important thing. And if this person is not heeded to, the one who is saying, let go of the tomato thing, this guy is going to be a tomato. He's going to get a tomato sandwich, all right. But he's going to be the tomato. A long time ago, there's a couplet of Kabir which says that
if somebody is drowning, try to save them, and if you can't, push them away from you, because they're going to drown you, too.
And I always thought, whoa. I mean, Kabir talks very straight, clean, clear, but isn't that taking that a little too far? Well, here's this guy trying to tell him, hey, let go of the tomato thing. There's something else going to happen. You need to get out of here. There's another train coming. There's going to be a train wreck. And once this person knows, too, I am sure that they will abandon their tomato.
But the point is, what do you know? Do you know about your existence? Do you know about your existence? You know about the things that happen in your existence, your responsibilities, your family. You know a lot of those things, but do you really know about your existence? That all those things, all those things in your life that matter to you so much do not matter to existence. Do you know that? Do you know that? You may look at your house and go, oh, my God, that's my house. I love my house. And this is the other thing. Use language correctly if you can. Understand. I mean, I'm not talking about your pronunciation or this or that. When you say, I love my house, do you really mean you love your house? Or do you mean to say, I like my house? Because imagine this. Five years later, your paint is peeling off from your house, so you give the house a new paint coat. And then you use the same word for love for your wife. What, five years down the road, you're going to give her a lick of paint too? Like, here we go. Change this, change that. Add an extension. People say, oh, I love. How can you love? People say, I love my car. I love this car. You like this car. You cannot love this car. And the reason why I'm beating on this dead horse here is because it is a matter of what is obvious to you. What is obvious to you? This gets very sophisticated, by the way.
Because love has to be interactive. It has to be felt. It has to be real. t is not dependent upon all the little things that we think love is dependent upon. Because this is where it gets really curious. If love has to be interactive. People say, I love God. Interactive? Interactive? But just something you think is good to say. I love God. Do you accept God's love? There are people who go, we're ready to fight for God. You have to fight for God. God can fight his own wars. You have to fight for God. God fights for you every day. That's true nature. God fights for you every day. Made a body. And this body is in war. Making sure it's around. It's got an incredible, incredibly, incredibly, incredible defense system called the immune system. It fights. Anything foreign, here we go. God fights for you. You have to fight for God. But when the love is not felt. When the love is not felt, how can the love be accepted?
And what do I mean by felt? understand the value of every single breath? Because this, this, is that God saying to you, I love you. Not who you are. Not what you could be. Not your picture of yourself. No drama, am I pretty, am I this, am I that? But this is God saying, I love you. You exist. I'm making this existence possible for you. But if you know how to accept that, then how is that love going to be interactive? How is it going to be shared? How could the voice of the truest gratitude be true when the gift was never accepted? In my opinion, it's not possible. A person comes, a person tastes the food, likes the food, eats the food, enjoys the food, and then that person says, oh, that was great. Thank you. I understand that. The person came, never ate, never tasted, and is going, oh, thank you, that was great. I'm befuddled. Does not make sense to me. Does not make sense to me. Everything, every step, every day that we take, there is a strength given to us. Now, when people say strength, they go, well, does that mean muscles, move mountains? Let me introduce to you the biggest mountain you will ever have to ever move in your life. You know what that mountain is? Ignorance. It's the only mountain you need to move. Other ones are fine where they are. Ignorance. When you ignore the obvious and allow the obvious to manifest in your life, that little creature is called ignorance. What is obvious? To see the obvious? Look. Not biased, not prejudiced. Look. Look. Look.
Many times I have looked up and I have seen stars. And I love to look at stars. And many times I have been with people who are telling me, and that's Jupiter, and that's Venus, and that's the bear, and that's a spatula, and that's a frying pot, and that's the plate. And the amazing thing is, everywhere I look, I see it. It's like, oh, yeah, I see a spatula. Connect the dots. There it is. A bear, no problem. I mean, what? Southern Cross. Oh, yeah, there it is. Oh, there's another one. And there's another one. I mean, you really have to be tripped out to know this stuff. Look at the stars and go, yeah, I see a bear. Have you ever seen a bear? Nothing up there looks like a bear. And cross, oh, my God, there's crosses everywhere. Connect the dots. You have to omit a few in between, otherwise you will have something else. But just to be able to look at the stars. And is it okay with you if you know where the Big Dipper is? You see, there are people. They're not looking at the stars. They're looking at the Big Dipper. You need to look at the stars. Forget about the Dipper. Just look and see there. It's a human being. Even before there was any necessity to navigate, any necessity to go from point A to point B, had looked up. Had looked up and enjoyed that. That is obvious. It's obvious. Because once again, you need the stars to navigate by. It's called GPS. You need stars. You really. There was a time they did. I mean, you better know where the Big Dipper is, otherwise you're going to go off the Big Dipper. Because the Earth was square and it definitely ended somewhere, and if you kept on going, you were going to fall off. So you didn't want to go off the Big Dipper, so you better know where the Big Dipper is, so you headed the right direction. North Star and South Star and East Star and Southern Cross and all of that. But it's come back to that same circle. You need all that. All you need is a GPS. You go, I want to go from here, I want to go there. Track.
So what is obvious? See, look, open your eyes, understand. Accept. With great clarity, accept what is there. People say they go to a quiet place. They go to a quiet place, and what do they say? And this is one of those word things again. You know, it's peaceful. There are winds blowing hundreds of thousands of miles an hour. That if it wasn't for the atmosphere, take out the earth. There is solar radiation so deadly, so deadly, that it would just kill you like that. That in that little world that you are in, you are standing in right under your very feet. There's wars going on. Little creatures are looking for littler creatures and devouring them. That every blade of grass that is around you is trying to compete to be the successful one. That every little plant in that jungle is trying to make it. Know what you really want to say. Is it's really quiet here, because the turmoil within you is noisier than anything out there. The turmoil, the turmoil. The war of trying to figure it out. Trying to figure out every day. Trying to have some permanence. Being absolutely sure about your future. t's what people like. This is what people want. They really, they want to be sure of what's going to happen tomorrow.
So many people, I mean I have talked to them. I see so many people who come and they're distressed and you know all like and getting down to talking to them. They're concerned about the future. What's going to happen to me? What is going to happen to me? Will my little model world that I have crafted so tediously going to always be there? It's a model. Have you ever seen one of those model worlds? Little houses, little roads, little green astroturf for grass. Little fake plastic plants. But God, it looks good. Me playing God. Me telling God how I would like it to be. In your infinite wisdom God. Because you know, I hear so many people, you know, religious people talking about, oh this is the prediction. This is being written. This is what's going to happen. And so one day I was watching this on the news and I said, oh this is so silly. That's not the word I used. I started with an S because I said, if you believe in this prediction so much, why do you pray? What's the point? I mean God has got it all figured out. That's what he's going to do anyway. Why are you trying to influence God's decision? Oh, please God, you know, and we pray to you to make this person better.
Why? Doesn't God know? Doesn't God know? And hasn't God predicted what's going to happen to this person? Is it an all cut and dry? Columns are drawn, right? Good deeds, bad deeds. Time has gone by. Deeds are recorded, right? Every day. Every one bad one is ticked in there. Signed. No. Register is signed. Then why this little change of heart? Oh God, you know, have mercy. God, you're all merciful. Can't have it both ways. Because to me, if you can pray to God, that means there is no prediction. Anything is possible. The people who are preaching the doomsday need not preach it. Because we can change that. Whether it is global warming, we can change that. Why? How? Because we changed it. We're the ones who brought it there. It only is logical to say, well, since you brought it, you can take it out. That the day we understand it is not incumbent upon God to stop the wars because he didn't start them. We did. And then we go, God stop the wars. The day we understand the value of this life. I'm sorry, it has to begin with this. You have to understand the value of your life. Then and only then can you even begin to reflect the value of somebody else's life. And then, and only then, will it be possible to stop the wars. Will that bring peace? No. Because peace does not need to be brought. It does not need to be bought and it does not need to be brought. Because peace is in the heart of every single human being on the face of this earth. Already. No one is ever born without that peace inside of them and no one ever dies without having that peace. And when that becomes obvious, something changes. When that becomes obvious, the value of every single day needs to become obvious to you. The value of every single moment needs to become obvious to you.
Having the Knowledge, having the Knowledge that it's all going to end one day. You won't be around, you would have ended before that, but it's going to all end one day. So we know as the humanity on planet Earth is not going to be there. Maybe there'll be people on moon, I know, moon will be gone too. Maybe there'll be people on some other planet, I know. I know one thing that hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands trying to colonize other places will have to lose their lives because, you know, technology the way we use it, it's like, poof, oh, I forgot.
It's just, you know, more and more you would think that they would figure it all out, but they. Mistakes keep happening again and again and again and again. But knowing that it's all going to end, what matters to you the most? What option do you have? What option do you have? If you were thirsty and you had a bottle of water and you were drinking from it and somehow there was a hole in there, right? Somehow a hole got punctured in there and now you're seeing that that water is leaking from that bottle and you're thirsty, what are you going to do? I know you're going, fix the hole. You know, and probably there are people who are going to do exactly that. Hold the bottle here. Let me go get some glue and duct tape and we'll come and fix the hole. Of course, by the time you come, the water would have leaked. Leaked out, bottle would be dry. I'll tell you what you should do. This is what's at least logical to me. Drink. Drink as much as you can. This is what they teach in flight school. If your one wing tank had a hole in it and you're leaking fuel, start transferring fuel from that leaky tank so you can save as much fuel as you can and keep flying with as much fuel as you can. Because in an airplane, especially when it's flying, you can't go out and just plug it up. Wait a minute, I'm going to go out there. So first thing we've got to do is invent some magnetic shoes that will keep me glued to the airplane while I walk out there. That's not a happening thing.
All you can do is start transferring. Use up so you can save as much fuel as possible. My advice, knowing that it's all going to go wayside, enjoy every single day that you can. What else are you going to do? waste a single day. Because it's going to all go away. So may as well enjoy every single day that you can. And Knowledge is that possibility that can allow you to savor every single day, not only every single day, but every single moment. All those tools that you need are not away from you, they are inside of you. Try to understand your strength, not somebody else's strength.
Try to understand what your objective is, the mountain that needs to be moved is not the one made out of rock and dirt. The mountain that needs to be moved is the mountain of ignorance. And it needs to be removed every single day. Every single day. Those ladies that take care of their house, know they cannot stop the dirt. you? You cannot stop the dirt. There is no product called dirt stopper. But there are plenty of products called dirt or dust removers. That's a nice little analogy. You can relate to that, can't you? Stain remover. Stain remover to remove that stain. Dirt remover to remove that.
Knowledge is ignorance remover. Listening? Listening to those words that clarify our dirt, dust, ignorance removers. People sometimes go, why do we have to listen once we have Knowledge? Why do you listen to a song the second time when you already have heard it? It's nothing new. Oh, by the way, why do you need to listen to a song? What makes you dance is not the words. It's the rhythm. The drums. Bass. Drums. Just listen to the drums. But those words you like. Because they inspire, they ignite something within you that you like. Makes you feel good. Makes you feel good. The words that touch your heart makes your heart feel good. You want to listen again and again and again and again. And the heart never gets tired of it. Never. Because it can dance to that beautiful rhythm. The rhythm of light. The rhythm of clarity. The rhythm of joy. The rhythm of hope. How come hope and clarity are tied together? These are not accidents, my friend. These are not accidents. See? This is a story. This is a story about an existence. And in this story, there are beautiful things. The story should have hope. And hope is tied to clarity.
It does not matter how gory, dark, bad the situation is, that as soon as clarity waltzes in, hope begins to come up. Not before. Not before. Before it just looks gloomy and dark and dark and gloomy and gloomy and dark and oh my god and oh my god and oh my god and oh my god. And you feel what? You feel the strength. You feel weak. Weak. And it tears on you. And it beats on you. And it tears on you. And it beats on you. And you become weaker and weaker and weaker and weaker. And it's not the carrots and the broccoli and the thousand containers of vitamin C that will bring your strength back. Never is. Clarity will bring hope. Hope will bring light. Light. Light. You will see. We'll make it obvious. That way. And the strength comes. And the strength comes. And the strength comes. And then with that strength, removing ignorance. Not questioning why most people get caught. Most people get lost as soon as you ask that question. Why do I have so much ignorance? That's not the point. The point isn't the quantity. The issue is removal.
Imagine somebody with a vacuum cleaner in their hand going, where does dirt come from? Well, most of it's your dead skin. And other people's dead skin. And everything else deteriorating. And if you have pets, especially like in winter time, they can't go outside. So you have to have their thing happening inside. And you know, all the cat litter and this and that. Well, there's fishies in that dust. Dead bugs in that dust. Mites. Entire ecosystems in that dust. Entire ecosystems in your bed. This was amazing. I was on this website. And I was reading about how a mattress gains weight. And it's significant. And it's from dead skin and mites and bugs and all this stuff that's living in there. So you can sit there all day long and go, well, God, why did you create dust? Then you can always find a person who will explain to you why God created dust. Ignorance has no problem breeding more ignorance. Light is the rarity. Clarity is the rarity. There is no shortage. There is no problem finding 10 confused people. But to find one clear one takes a lot. And to accept the gift of clarity takes a tremendous amount of effort.
Takes a tremendous amount of effort. People say, and somebody said that to me, I want to be dependent on anybody. Oh, I said, so you are from the group that is dependent upon not being dependent on anybody. You're dependent on your eyes, your ears, your teeth. You're dependent upon the guy who makes, who sells the toothpaste. He's dependent on the guy with somebody who makes the toothpaste. And of course, ultimately, the whole company is dependent upon you buying the toothpaste. So they can make more money and keep making the toothpaste because you are actually dependent on the toothpaste. You're dependent on the dollar. You're dependent on the rupee. You're dependent on the ringgit. Everybody's dependent on something, and something, and something, and something, and something, and something, and something, and something, and something, and something, and something, and something, and something, and something. And Kabir says,
those are the ones that are fortunate who are dependent. On this garland of the breath. Those are the fortunate who are dependent upon clarity.
Fortunate. Be fortunate. Be fortunate. You can be fortunate. Everybody has the possibility of being fortunate. It's up to you. It's up to you. I know people make New Year's resolutions. I made one last year at the end of the year for this year. Not to have one. And it's the first year I have succeeded 100%. So much. So what's new? What is new? I know. I know what is new. And if I told you, I know how you would react. What is new? The latest and the greatest. The latest and the greatest. The newest thing. Newest thing is this breath that just came in. Nothing newer than that. Do you know that? Is it obvious to you? That's the newest thing. The latest and the greatest. The latest and the. Be resolved to appreciate that every day in your life. Because you can. Be resolved to garner clarity. Be resolved to enjoy. Be resolved to be fortunate. Be resolved to be. To be in that sweet place. Sweet place. Enjoying the new. Because when you're in company of the new, you will never get old. Truly, you will not get old.
Youth, youth resides here in your heart. Those who accept their heart, who accept that beauty, who accept that joy, never get old. And those who, get old. Very, they do. They get old very, very quickly. I mean, these days, who's fooling who? You see people walking around, and they have Botox. And they're walking around like a duck. You know, they look better, look more beautiful, attractive, good intent, bad execution. Now you look like a duck. I mean, some people really get into it, you know, I guess. And it's like, whoa. So, in this world, there are many things that happen. I mean, they do, they do. Whatever it is. But I can tell you what is true youth. True youth is here. Not here. Remember this? The game Sid played? Remember this? You couldn't get old fast enough. Remember? You couldn't get old fast enough. Now it's playing another game. Getting old too fast. If this was your neighbor, you'd move house. Now, fortunately, unfortunately, this is your neighbor. But there's another neighbor too. That's here. That's here. So, give it some thought.
What I have said tonight, I know if you're going to be able to catch your flights back. I know. I hope you can. When I drove up here, it was exactly 32 degrees. That's freezing. Zero degrees Celsius. It goes a little bit lower than that. Things will start freezing and then things will happen. Whatever. Whatever happens. And I hope wonderful things happen. For you, that this year is just wonderful. You prosper. Outside, fine. But prosper inside. It's important that your house is free from the dirt of ignorance and it shines. And it's clean. It's beautiful. Beautiful. Come what may, you are ready. Because you're strong from inside. A strength. That those things that have eluded you for so long become obvious to you.
See, only a Master has blessings like that for his students.
Other people are like, you know, hope this happens. Hope that happens. Have a great holiday. Most people I see trying to have a great holiday, it's like a bud kissing contest. I got to do this. I got to do this. I got to do this. I got to do that. And then they take a tree that was doing beautifully in the forest. Cut it, bring it home, and decorate it. And then what? Landfill. Landfill. Landfill. Somebody in one of the states decided to use it as mulch. They said, bring us all your Christmas trees and we'll use it as mulch.
Great usage. But yeah, it's like, you know, here, this now represents a tree we're going to decorate and we're going to put presents underneath it. And everybody's going to come together and, you know, open their Christmas presents. It's fun. It's fun. But that's the day, you know, that's the decider day. That's the decider. Up till then, everything has been fun. Because you anticipated what everybody's going to buy you. But that's the decider day. That's when you find out, mm-mm, nobody bought you what you really wanted. After a thousand hints. fter a thousand hints. Well, there's one present for you. And it's under no Christmas tree. And it is given freely every day. Catch it. Open it. Enjoy it. That's what Knowledge is about. Some of you are here, are aspirants, going through the Keys. Well, I'm glad you could come. I hope you receive Knowledge soon. There's one of the things that is going to be happening fairly soon is a training for those people who want to be involved in organizing service.
Service Area Management Training, SAMT. Got to give these nice names to these things. It doesn't matter what the training is, the name's got to be good, right? That's the way the world is today, you know, there's all these acronyms. But, no. But I'm looking forward to that. Because that is an incredible expression. So much has been done with the message, and so much has been done with Knowledge sessions. But there's one part that is missing, and that's participation. This was supposed to be under the guise of Participation Meeting.
Participate. Participate, first of all, in your own life. Please. Don't live this life for somebody else. Participate in your own life. The decision to be in Clarity will have to be yours. Not somebody else. Nobody else can make that decision for you. So, make that. Participate. And when there is an understanding of Knowledge, and there is an understanding of that gratitude, you want to participate? I really want… I really, really, really, really want every single opportunity for participation to be the most enjoyable one possible. I really want to change this participation thing around. Where it's like, you know, a big… Yes.
We've done it with Knowledge sessions.
We've done it with the message.
Third part remaining is participation.
And that's the bull that's going to be grabbed by the horns this year. So that… There's… You know, like I said, there's four pillars of Knowledge. There's the message. There's participation. There's practice. And there's the Master. And the three Pillars lie on the foundation called the Master. And so far, the other two have been worked on and made very nice. Now it's the third one's turn. And that will be done. And it is obvious to me that this is one of those aspects that was missing, and it needs to be done around the world. Around the world. Because participation is so beautiful. To be a part of it. To be a part of it. I mean, how amazing is that? To be a part of it. To have the most incredible meal and knowing that you helped with one of the dishes.
Gives you a good feeling. To have a number one on the charts and you know you played the bass. Good feeling. Good feeling. So thank you very much for coming. I know there's a storm and all that stuff. I know it's cold outside. I have been in a place that was colder than this, believe me, for quite a few days. Quite a few days. I've been busy. But anyways, it's all taken care of now. There's nothing in this cold, cold night or cold, cold day, nothing like listening to the message of the heart that warms you up so beautifully. Because the warmth comes from inside. Outside is cold, but the warmth comes inside. There's no accident. Hope is like that. Clarity is like that. It is genuine stuff. This is what you were made to feel. This is what you were made to feel. Enjoy. And all of you, have a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, happy, happy, happy, happy new year. And every year that you live. So thank you very much, and good night.
Thank you.
