"Simplicity of Knowledge is amazing" - Simplicity? Just living and breathing can be complex but adding all this thinking about your breathing, sitting down an hour a day and "enjoying" that bodily discomfort and random thinking while trying to work out if you're doing it correctly while knowing you haven't felt a smidgen of bliss since October 1973 amd can you afford to go to Australia this September? Your children never really forgiven you for growing them up in DLM/Elan Vital will be furious if you give their inheritnce to Maharaji (the Lord of the Universe) in your will but if you don't, what will happen at your last breath?
- Call me a nasty old-fashioned grump but I really don't think many premies are approaching their practise of Knowledge with passion. I don't. I really, really don't. I think most of them find it a relentless trial.

The Rhythm of Your Life

So, I finally made it to this part of the country, flown over this part many, many times, many, many times. But here I am, and I'm here to tell you a story. And this is a very different story, because it's not about a king or a queen, about a rat or a goose. This story is not about romance, or victory, or failure. And the purpose of the story is not to occupy your time, nor the purpose of the story to entertain you. Because there is a reality, and it's a very simple reality, and it's a very beautiful reality. And it's a story that is the most magnificent story. And it is not about something, but it is, it just is, this beautiful creation, this beautiful existence, in this incredibly, incredibly hostile universe. And when I say hostile, I mean hostile. Incredibly hostile universe. One incredible place. And before I go on with the story, I must tell you one thing. sit there and fight it. debate it. debate it. sit there, and it's like, if I say, one incredible haven created. sit there and go, well, we actually know. There might be more. For you, no. Okay? So cool it. I know you have your concepts, and you have your ideas about everything. And let me also tell you that your concepts and ideas have not helped you. Can you see that? Well, actually, that's too much space. In anything in your life, I mean in anything, but you believe in them, you trust them, you hang on to them, they bite you, and you kiss them. So just give me a few minutes of your time to tell you a little story. That is not even a story. So chill down, relax, and just listen. Because for you, for me, this is our haven. Our heaven. And we've been given an opportunity to be here. Is it good? Is it bad? That's not the point. That's not the point. Let me give you an analogy.

Say there is a very beautiful painting. The painting is of trees, and the ocean, and clouds, and the sun. Beautiful, magnificent, painted by one of the Masters. But you never saw it. Then one day you see it. And what happened was when it was packed, it was packed improperly. The painting was packed improperly. And it rubbed against the box. And the greens, and the blues, and the oranges, and the whites have all gotten mixed up. It almost looks weird, strange. The only thing left is the signature of the Master. And when you see it, you go, he painted that? Everybody, everybody in this world looks at the reality with a twist. And then they wonder why the reality isn't beautiful. When it comes down to this one little thing called peace, peace. You know what I have found? Nobody in this whole world has a clue what peace is. I mean not a clue. None. Zip. Nada. No idea. It's like telling a baboon if he wants toast with marmalade. I mean it's like, it's sad. It's really sad. But it's so sad it's almost humorous. Good people have no idea what peace is. No idea. Some people think, oh, end of war is peace. That's it? So you mean before the wars began there was peace? And peace led to wars? See? Other people? Oh, eliminate the hunger in this world and there'll be peace.
Listen, there are people who go hungry on purpose. They're trying to lose weight. They go through great lengths and torture and pain to be hungry. If you, if your objective became, and you created a machine called hunger detector and said I'm going to drive down all the roads in the world with this hunger detector turned on and anybody who is hungry is going to get food shoved in their mouth, and then there will be peace. You're going to have more war. If people are going to say I want to eat, I'm on a diet. I want your food, and that's what will happen. So, we have concepts, we have gels in front of our eyes for everything. And reality is dancing in an incredibly magnificent sweet way. This, all that you see, that is so beautiful, will not always be there. It wasn't once, it will not be there again. It is about the opportunity that you are alive. It is not about the semantics of your life. It is not about the circuit diagrams of your existence. It is not about all the other things that we allow ourselves to be distracted by. Peace is, and the manifestation of the peace happens within the heart of every single human being. That is the only place. That is the only place. War, absence of war is not peace. There can be two brothers who love themselves each other to death. That doesn't mean they fight. You ate my marmalade, you know, or whatever it is. You ate my marmalade, you ate my bread, you ate my butter, you drove my car. I mean, it doesn't matter, does it? They scream at each other for a little while, and then the next thing you know, they're best friends again. Everybody knows that happens. Two sisters, they can be fighting. Not speak for a couple of days. Do you have to interfere? No, it's okay. They'll get back together. It's fine. The more you get into it, the more prolonged it's going to be. But all these things, all these schematics, all these formulas that you have come up with, look at the reality through those eyes. Look at the reality through the simplest eyes that the Creator has given you. And what will you see? And this is what the story is about. That you will see a perfection that is more perfect than you can ever imagine. You will hear a rhythm that is more rhythmic than any rhythm you can possibly imagine. You will see a magnificence that is more magnificent than what you can imagine. You will swim in the cool, clear waters that are cooler and clearer than you have ever, ever imagined. The heart, the understanding, the day you begin to bring those things to bear, you will begin to understand the real story. The day you have uncovered your passion. Do you have a passion for existence? Do you have a passion for existence? You have a passion for a routine.
Have you ever heard old records that used to be, you know, like 78, 45 rpm, 33 and a half rpm vinyl records. You start them from the beginning, and then you heard the then it got to the music, and then it played through the whole music, and then it got to the very end. And they had put a groove there, so the needle would not go past into the paper and destroy itself. So they would sit there and go You know why I'm giving you this example? I'm not trying to test your age. You know why I'm giving you this example? The reason why I'm giving you this example, because I strongly feel this is the bit where we walk in, and we see the record player, and we see the record, (starts clicking his fingers to a silent beat) and we go, Wow! (giggles) That's interesting, interesting tune. It's… So then we go out in this world going, I just heard a very nice rhythm thing, tune, and it goes something like… And then you say, you know who this record was by? You know, this was, and it said 'Beatles' on it. And somebody else comes, and you know what? I heard the same beat. And that record was by Santana. I mean, man, this is the hippest thing. There is every musician that is worth his oats out there is making this beat.
And the Master comes and says, oh, did you hear the third song? Oh, yes. I heard the third song. What was it? Did you hear the, did you hear the intricate details of the flute in the third song? There was flute in that. Did you hear the fourth song? The nuances, the piano. Oh, it's played with so much passion. And you go, "piano in there too?" Funny bits in the story, that's what happens, that's what happens. I wrote something, of course it's in Hindi, I wrote a few, I mean one day it just hit me and I just had to write these things down, it was a period of about a week, every night I'd get up and I'd write, write, write, write, it got pretty bad, it got really bad. So, one of them is, maati bole, maati nache, maati rahe adheer, maati se matka bane, tab raakhe wo neer.

Mud, earth, speaks. The dirt, earth, dances. The dirt remains fidgety, going after this, going after this, doing this, doing that. But only when that earth becomes a pot, will it be able to hold in it the water, not before that. So when I say this in India, you know, they'll go, "Wow, that's deep." This is, this is the dirt. This is the dirt. This bit. And when somebody says that, people cannot relate to that, and I know why we cannot relate to that. The reason is, am I worth something? I mean, at least I am the worth of all the effort I have put in this world. The school, the college, the work experience, you know, I mean, people write their curriculum vitaes, and they start believing in it. Excuse me, your curriculum vitae is for your boss. He's supposed to believe in it, not you. I mean, you put everything in there, you know. I mean, everything, everything.
And so people go, this can't be it. You're born and you kind of hang around a little while, and then you die. This can't be it. I cannot take the sum of the effort that I have put in this world, that I have made in this world, and go zero. Do you know that zero was invented in India? In the West, they didn't have a zero. They had no idea what a zero is. Because they had no concept of this thing that was infinite and nothing. No, God is something. Eyes, ears, nose, mouth, tongue, teeth, temperament. I mean, the way, you know, and this is what I was saying the day before yesterday in Leicester. I mean, God's like, he's got it in, he's in a bad mood. Here's the laws, and there are many. Oh, there's not one. And to confuse things, every part of the world, new set of laws, different set of laws. For a Hindu, totally different set. For the Muslims, totally different set. For the Christians, different set. For the Buddhists, different set. And apparently God gave these laws and said, here, this is what you have to do. Bust one, and I will have your hiney on a pitchfork. And you will regret it for, for, fill in the blank. Not like, OK, a day. That ought to learn you. You know, that'll teach you a lesson a day. Two days. Three days with a 45 minute break. No. No, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. You were only, you were only on this planet Earth for maybe 60 years, 65, 70, 80, 90 years. And in that 90 years, you made a mistake. it can be just one and you will be punished for how long? for I mean forever what percentage even if you live for 90 years could you tell me what percentage that is of forever? what? I mean you weren't here forever but you're gonna be punished for a thing you did it took maybe like 10 seconds to do it and you're gonna be punished for it forever. so different is the viewpoint that we have latched on to that we ourselves are incapable we have through our ideas made ourselves incapable for appreciating what is to just see to know to understand the beauty the beauty of what? this will come in and out let's begin with that right it is the simplest act that takes place it is a very different kind of act it's a very different kind of act that you do or action that you do
It happens naturally. Its existence verifies that you are alive. It is one of those things that is associated with you being alive, because without it, the doctor is quite willing at that point to sign you. That's a typical, you know, they've got their AKG and they've got all their machines and they look at that and go, okay, that's dead. Then they get their stethoscope out and they listen for the heartbeat and there's none there, that's dead. Then they look at for the pulse around the neck, that's not there. And last but not least, after that, the signature can go on. When you were born, when you were born, when you came out into this world from the womb, or whichever way, caesarean or whatever, the focus was, are you breathing or not? Boy or girl, that's before and after. Are you breathing? Your color was blue. And if you were not breathing, you were spanked. And at that point, you were given a little time to start breathing. And if not, you were spanked again. And then, if you did, the color changed. And all the paraphernalia of ideas began to flow. Boy, girl, this, that, Indian, born when, what time, make the janam patri, make the thing, you know, the astrological chart of when you were born, then makes you what, and if you're good or bad or whatever it is that they do. Everything began. Now, everything will happen to you because you are alive. And the focus from this breath dissipated. For the mother, it's still important when you are a baby to see you're breathing. Just that little movement, just that little movement of this breath coming in and out of you assures her what all is, all is well. So powerful. So powerful is this thing that so far it is happening, all is well. And if it isn't, oh my god, I know how many times if you, if you, the mothers that are here have counted adrenaline shooting because you thought that wasn't happening. And then you came close and all is. So now your mother doesn't look after you that way. Now she doesn't sit there and go, you know, are you still breathing? No, she may not even be around.
Now all of a sudden in the story something changes and the Master gets interested in telling you about this breath. That the coming and going of this breath is the blessing. And indeed, indeed, indeed, absolutely, absolutely, 100% absolutely, so far this comes into you, all is indeed well. All is well. Do you have passion for this? Are you interested? Are you interested in the music on the record, not the last groove? Because that's what the Master does. Picks up that needle, says now here, and music begins to play. Music begins to play. But there's a problem. You know what the problem is? You are sweetly waiting for that hip rhythm to come. Let's go past all this so we can go to that common song that you will find in Beatle albums and Santana albums and, you know, all the great artists and all the works that have been composed by different symphonies of Mozart and Bach. They were all, that was the hippest song that ever was made. It just goes like And I get this all the time. This is what I want. I want to hear that. I want to hear that. And I say to people, because all the Knowledge techniques, all they are, all they do, I mean all they do, this is just common sense, for those at least who have it, all they do, this is all they do, is they cut off your focus from the outside. That's all they do. So now you're technically free to focus on wherever the great focuser will take you. It's like a room. When you turn off the light, what will you see? Well, anything that's glowing on its own, that it wasn't being just a reflected light of the bulb, because you've turned off the bulb. Now the reflection from that bulb can no more be. All that you are left with is whatever has its own light source. That's all.

Simplicity. Simplicity of Knowledge is amazing. The complexity of concept is also amazing. And when only one is left, one is left standing, and that one better be the simplicity of Knowledge, then you can begin to hear the real rhythm of your. And when you begin to hear the real rhythm of your life, then you will have something to dance about. Then you will have something to appreciate. Then you will have the appreciation for what you have been given. And the story will have been completed. And you, upon hearing the whole story, and you, upon understanding the whole story, you will be set. Why? Because that is the day you will understand you do not need the support of all the ideas that you can and are capable of just standing on this bridge. And that it is solid. That it is good. That it is strong. And you can jump on it, and it won't fall down. You will be able to appreciate its strength. And when you can appreciate its strength, then your heart will fill with gratitude for all that you have been given. And when your heart fills with gratitude for all that you have been given, you will have no more space for the questions. And that is the day you will have the answers without the need for the questions. A lot of people might go, how can that be? What am I going to do? What am I going to do with all the answers without the questions? Let me give you an analogy. I'm sure you've gone through this, and I think you will understand me./p
You remember when you started to learn how to ride a bike? You remember that? Everything was a question. Was it not? Should I look forward? And when should I pedal? And when do I turn? And when do I lean? And what do I do? And hit the dat, the dat, the dat, the dat, the dat. Everything was a question. And you would ask them, why do I keep falling off? What? Why? Why? Why? Why do I keep falling off? What am I not doing right? I'm pedaling. I'm looking forward. I turn the wheel, and I fall off. Why? Why? Why, why, why, why? The person who taught me how to ride the bike did not answer a single one of my questions. He didn't say anything to me. He'd just get up, help me up, he'd get the bike up, get on, he'd give it a little push, and of course I'd fall off. And I'd ask him, what am I doing wrong? Why do I keep falling off? Because all I had was questions. And then, it clicked, and I could ride the bike. Now, all I had was the answers. I didn't need the questions. And from then on, every time I practiced, I became better and better and better and better and better and better and better and better at which I already knew. I already knew how to ride the bike at that point, but I got better at riding the bike. And me, even in those days when I was a little kid, I had to invent things. So for my bike, I had bought a horn. And the horn, I mounted the horn in the front, and I mounted, it was an electric horn, and I mounted the button. And then I realized that this is really bad because you had to push the horn for it to come on. There was a button on the handle. So what I did is I undid the wires going to the switch, and I put one on the handlebar itself, and the other one on the brake. So when you would pull the brake, it would automatically sound the horn. And I was very proud of it. I showed it to everyone, like look, you know? You're driving along and you see somebody, all you do is, of course, you start slowing down, the horn comes on, they'll move out, keep going. Then it becomes better and better and better because there is no limit to that better. There is no limit to the ability that you have been given to enjoy.
Do you know that? I know how old you are. From what I understand, there's a lot of people here who received Knowledge way back when. I'm glad that you are here today. And I'm glad that I'm here today. You know, so much has changed. And yet the core has changed none because it doesn't need to change. The quest is still Knowledge. The effort to have propagation in this world is still being made, still being made everywhere. People in their little communities are going at it. So many people around the world, remember there was a time when an instructor, a Mahatma would come and inspire you to come to the events? Remember that? You know, you should come to your daily evening satsang, da-da-da-da-da-da-da. Now, without any of those nan-da-nans, hundreds of thousands of people on their own are listening to this message. Do you know that? The power of satsang has come to life. I really think people understood what that power was of this message. Now it's come to its own. And people who have Knowledge, who have Knowledge are actually going in other people's homes, their friends' homes, saying, I want you to watch this. Knowledge is a beautiful thing. This life is a beautiful thing. That experience is a beautiful thing. A lot of you sowed those seeds that are now sprouting. And maybe you have been out of touch with the world. Not a problem. Whatever you did, your efforts did not go unseeded. They did not go unseeded. They were seeded and the seeds took. And every year, somewhere around the world, in the remotest places you can possibly imagine now, people are receiving the gift of Knowledge. But not only receiving the gift of Knowledge, but enjoying. What is actually happening now, we could have never imagined.
I mean, for us, filling the Royal Albert Hall was like, that's it. The last event that I did in Patna, over 500,000 people, you have no idea what 500,000 people look like. No idea at all. It was an amazing morning. It was amazing morning. The program was early in the morning. It was around nine o'clock. And the day before the event, at that time, it was almost 30 degrees Celsius. Hot. And we took off in a helicopter for about an hour away. And where we took off from, it was 30 degrees at like seven o'clock in the morning. It was hot. Took off, started going towards Patna. As we're going through, the fog is building. By the time we landed in Patna, it was beautiful weather. It was a nice cloud layer, fog layer, in fact. It was a cool breeze blowing. It felt just like this. It was just amazing. And 500,000 people sitting there, pin drop silence, and the event happened. And then, after the event was over, you know how long it took for everybody to get out of there, the traffic jam outside? 24 hours. I mean, physically, it was almost impossible to do that event. Even the speakers that we had, which in Amaroo, that one time, there was about 3,000 or 4,000 or 5,000 people there, and we were just using one speaker. We had an array of these speakers, and we were using all the speakers we had, and it was just barely getting the sound to all the way to the back of where people were. And these speakers are dangerous. One could blow your eardrums, no problem. We had a big screen, a huge screen that we have gotten. People in the back couldn't see it. It just looked like, about that big. So, yes, we've done as big a program as I'd ever want to do. Now, I'm trying my hand at smaller programs as I can do. Going, going where people are. We need to get in this habit. We need to get in this habit, because it is going to be ultimately easier for me to travel to those places than for all of you to come.
The price of gas is going to go through the ceiling, and it's just not going to be possible.

So I'm trying to change the system so we can accommodate that, and believe me, it's a painful process. It's about as painful as you can imagine, because we already did the meetings in January of this year. All the intents were declared. There was a follow-up meeting for that, and hardly anything has changed. And I mean, that's just not how things should be. Things need to really respond. It's a big world. It's true. It's a very big world. And I'm still at it. I want to take my message to as many people as I can take. Nothing has changed. Do I need to do this? No. I. If I want to retire, I can retire very comfortably, but I'm still doing it, because this wasn't then and isn't now about money. It's about the heart. It's about the heart. It's about the message. It's about the story. It's about the possibility that we are alive, and because we are alive, we can experience something so divine in our lives that it's unbelievable. It's unbelievable. People doubted me then. Why is he doing it? Oh, he's going to stop doing it. Wrong! So I mean, a long time ago, I resolved those issues. I just listen to them, because they say whatever they want to say. Just because they say something, they are not right.
Everybody has a limited vision. Everybody has a limited vision. I do too, but my vision is limited to the point that you, every human being on this face of this earth, is capable of feeling that joy in their heart. That's my vision, and I'm trying. I'm trying. It's a relentless thing. You just have to go at it. People are inviting me to places like, where is that? I've never heard of that place before. And somehow, to make it possible to be able to go there, to bring them the message of peace, that the peace is in you. You know, when I say that, and I have said it in front of some major time audience, ambassadors, and, you know, bigwigs in this world, and they're shocked, because they think I'm going to come and, you know, speak rhetoric, like everybody else, you know, peace is this and that. When I tell them, I'm talking about the kind of peace that a person can experience in the middle of the battlefield, they go, freedom that a person can experience in prison. And you know where this Knowledge, I mean, the interest for this Knowledge is really growing? In prisons. People just love it, love it. So it's so beautiful, and at the same time, it's so simple, and if somehow you have been touched by this message, doesn't matter when, 1970s, 80s, 90s, 2000, doesn't matter. You are very fortunate, very, very fortunate. Practice, because you want to, listen, because you want to, participate, because you want to. A lot of people feel, well, I can't participate, because, you know, I'm too old. Well, the day before yesterday, actually it was before that, no, it was the same day, I'm sorry.
It was the same day, the event of Leicester, and then in the morning there was another event for all the people who are very old. And I said, fine, you have done your bit, now practice. You can't participate, fine. Relax, enjoy. It's okay. See, I can say that. Nobody else can say that, I can say that. You've done your bit, just enjoy. Be proud. Look around you, and be very proud of what your little actions have made a reality. So, it is simple. It is simple. A lot of people go, because I can't practice, I can't, or because I can't participate, then why should I, you know, practice? No, no, no. Just, whatever you can do, it's okay. It's okay. A little bit of nothing will always be nothing, right? A little bit of something will be always something. you think so? So, what would you rather have, a little bit of nothing, or a little bit of something? Because even a little bit of nothing is equal to nothing. A little bit of something may not be equal to everything, but at least it's something. And something is better than nothing. I knew you'd like that. Because that gets you off the hook somehow. No. Look, the bottom line is, the bottom line is, none of this stuff happens if you have the passion. None. The Master doesn't come. You won't come. I tell people. I tell the organizers all the time. The decision to want to come to my event is a decision of passion. It's love.
But the reason is I don't beat over somebody over the head going, and if you don't, you will get the pitchfork forever. I. I don't go around making people feel guilty. I just don't. I could. I could do that. But I don't. Because I know I don't have to be here. I don't. I really, really don't. But I come because of passion. You have to be here. You come because of passion. So why should you practice? Passion. Why should you love this life? Passion. Why should you have gratitude in your life? Passion. Why should you admire? Because of passion. Every breath you take should be in passion. Passion. Passion for existence. Passions. Passion for this magnificent story. This little place that has been made. You put upon it. Enjoy. Enjoy what you have been given. Understand. Understand. It's value. Understand. It's importance. You have heard the word truth. Truth is neither far from you, nor is it so mysterious that you could ever understand it. It's not. It's all very simple. But it's the truth. The coming and going of this breath is your truth. And the day coming, everything will become, it'll all become alive.
Today I was watching telly. They had this news on going, who is the richest man in Britain? So I thought to myself, just very quickly, why they point out to the poorest man? We could do something about that. The richest man, what can you do about it? You won't even get an appointment to see him. So what's the point? Then I said to myself, this world is so screwed up. If you want to search, search for the richest man in this world. Search for the happiest man in this world. (applause)

The richest man in this world may not share his wealth, but the happiest man in this world will share his happiness. Because that's how happiness is. You know, we're looking for the wrong things. Wrong things. And what does it do? What does it do? You hear, and I'm sure there were people in the audience, watching television at least, who were jealous. Other rich ones, you know, that come down on third or fourth. I'm sure they were jealous that their name wasn't on number one. But who would be jealous of a person who's the happiest? No one. This is how it is. This is how it is. Find that joy, because that joy exists within you. Find that love, because that love is within you. And if you have come here after many, many years, and you're saying to yourself, God, that message hasn't changed, that's a good thing. Then that just means you were on to something good a long time ago. And the credit goes to you. You found something good a long time ago. So yeah, the saga continues. Pages are being turned. And you, not in your little life. No, no.
You, in your existence. Existence. This is your magnificence. Be free. Be free. Do not be enslaved. Be free. Long time ago, I said, give me love. I'll give you peace. Still the same. Here it is, 2008. Still the same. Because peace is within you. Enjoy this existence. Enjoy this life. Enjoy this breath. Enjoy this gift of Knowledge. Have a blast. Thank you very much. Good night.
