Speaking to a large crowd of 11,000 people the young Rawat spoke for 40 minutes and often broke into screeching at peak volume. His young followers had been advised to keep it cool and only broke into applause and one Bolie Shri when the young Rawat made pointed remarks about His divinity and he briefly quoted from his most megalomaniacal speech. Excerpts from this speech were printed in the Australian Golden Age magazine.

So I would now like to introduce Guru Maharaj Ji

Thank you, thank you very much

Dear premies, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our celebration of Hans Jayanti. First of all let me tell you that whatever we are trying to convey, and whatever message we are trying to convey to people that we invite and he as you can see this a pretty good sized festival and lotta people from lotta different countries from lotta different nationalities are here and it's very easy to come into a parking lot and park your car and come down and take a chair and see what's everybody is doing, see all the people and go to the Pepsi-Cola stand and have a few Pepsi-Cola's. It's very easy to do that but what is involved behind this whole festival is a very, very complicated story. Of course we have to start planning for this festival a very long time ago and even more than that we had to get premies together but even behind all that scene is a very, very big story is a very big story and that story, the heart, the rhythm of that story, is what we are trying to convey to all the brothers and sisters of this world.

Mahatma Bill Patterson, Mahatma Satchitanand was giving you satsang and he was trying to explain that there is something that we are looking for. You see, whatever has happened into this world did not start today or whatever is happening into this world did not start yesterday, but it has been happening for, for extremely long time and as long as we can trace it, there has been a constant search of a human being. Man has been trying to constantly reach out of his boundaries and know and find out and, and really understand what is that "something" for that something is very nameless and therefore it makes it even harder because it is nameless to pin it down, to put our fingers on it and say, "Here it is. This is, this is what we are looking for." It's like trying to identify a person who you do not know how he looks like, you do not know his name, you don't know anything about him and yet you are trying to find out who that person is. You don't even know who, what he looks like. Now you might, what you might try to do is question him, try to gather some information that uh maybe, that, that might help you but you don't have any lead on that person.

It becomes very hard and it's like the same way when we are trying to look for a thing, when we are trying to search for a thing that we know does exist. I mean, we know it definitely exists but we do not know what it is, what it looks like, what is it, what, what is it named and though it has-there are so many scriptures and then there's like, there are keys to scriptures and like there are so many people who love God, who want to talk about God. Not, not necessarily they, they, have they ever seen God but they want to talk about it. They are sincere people, they're good people. They, they know that the power exists and they want to bring a portion of humanity to that understanding so that they can realize that God, to give them a little start, to give them a little lead. Now premies it's like, what we are trying to explain is that you see we know that we have a fantastic experience.

We have something which is Knowledge, we have something which is meditation and meditation is the concentration, meditation is the lead, meditation is the cable that connects the two things together and we have that and we have also, not only do we have the television but we also have the video camera so through which we can take pictures, through which we can really bring a ss, an object which is extremely far away into our own home, into our own room, into our own bedroom as a matter of fact and that connection between God and us, see, God is something so beautiful and we all know that. We have experienced it by, when we look around and see the beautiful skies and I mean, people who have been living in Florida are very lucky because you have very beautiful weather here, nice and warm and sometimes it's raining and the other hand it's sunshine and beautiful rainbows, beautiful sights, beautiful beaches, beautiful ocean and when a man looks out to all those things, there is no excuse for him but to bend down and accept an authority, to accept a power that has created it. He has got no excuse. He cannot deny the fact that something like that exists and what our approach is, what we are trying to do is to try to bring that Knowledge in that all the scriptures talk about, through which peace can be with you all the time because it is within inside of you.

That Lord, that power that we are all so desperately searching for, we also call it 'omnipresent' and I am pretty well aware that all of you understand the meaning of 'omnipresent' except people who do not speak English and 'omnipresent' means 'omnipresent,' present everywhere. So, when it is omnipresent, why go look for it outside? We are also a part of Him. That power is also within inside of us because it's everywhere, it's also within inside of us and it's like this watch that we have been wearing and all of a sudden we wake up, we had a very tiring night, we were up all night and then all of a sudden we wake up and we have to get ready and we have to go to the airport and catch our aeroplane and we are tired and tired, more than tired you can imagine and we are trying to get things together and we are in a hotel room opening all the drawers, shutting all the drawers, finding where everything is, just throwing things in the suitcase and then all of a sudden you think, "Where is my watch?" And uh you say, "Oh, this is just the time I had to forget it! Why don't I put it on last night and, and just leave it?"

Then we start looking again and we go through everything and we start screaming, shouting-I mean, this has happened and it's like uh it happens to me when we are travelling and not only me, it happens to other people too who are travelling in my party and everybody just sort of goes bongo because they are trying to figure out where this thing is and then I look at my wrist and there is the watch and sometimes I just don't say anything and let them look for it and go ahead, maybe they'll find something else that we are missing.

But, you see, the fact is that in this life, in this world, the thing that we are looking for is very, very close to us. It has to be and is the reason why it has to be very close to us is because we have to find it. We are supposed to be a part of it. We are supposed to be one with it and therefore by the gap that man has created himself between his Lord and himself. All merciful Lord, all merciful grace had also, has also reduced the distance between-see what we do is we push ourselves away from Him. And how do we push ourselves away from Him? By really not realizing, not really knowing what we are doing but we just keep on going into this world, keep on going into this world building that bridge bigger and bigger, building that river bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. Till one, at one point we realize that we built this river so big that there isn't a boat in this world that'll cross it and we, and then we find out after we have done it that there isn't one single architect that can build a bridge across it. Then what good is that river?

So today it's what really we have to know is that though we push ourselves away from our Lord, knowingly or unknowingly, He, because He is all-merciful, walks Himself closer to us and He does and it is a proven fact. When everybody was looking the other way, when everybody was confused, when everybody did not know what was going on, Jesus Christ, our Lord, came to us. We did not fly up to heaven to Him. He came to us, on this earth, to save us, to protect us and He did not go through one misery. He went through thousands of them. For whom? For us. Our Lord comes to us. Though we by our mistakes push Him away, He comes to us. And then when He does, we try to push Him again, because of that mistake that we always make and it's like, it sounds very crazy to put the whole thing that has happened in our past history of all the Perfect Masters coming into this world and trying to reveal this perfect Knowledge, when we take all that history and combine it together and put it in one book, in one page, in one sentence. That is when everybody goes and says, "Jesus. How could be people like that?" This is, this is when the people turn around and say, "They must have been out of their brain, they must have been out of their mind." And, they were.

Question is, do we ever get up ourselves and face that question that if Lord today when he is all potent, omnipotent and we all understand that He has the power to do anything in this world and He controls everything in this world. He controls us and it's because of His Grace that structure is there because you have seen the movies of earthquakes, haven't you? And because of His Grace this earth is here, the sky is here and that power can adapt Himself because it's infinite, it can adapt himself to any shape, any form, any time, in any way. Have you ever thought of that? We know, we know He is all-powerful and He is all-graceful. So see, what He might just do, so He might love one of His very close devotees, He might just love us and one day and He might also love that delivery man. So one day He says to the delivery man, "I'll save you the trouble, boy. I'll deliver this milk to my devotee. He loves me very much." And he comes knockin' at your door and what have you there? The Lord Himself, standin' with a bottle of milk. (Applause)

Now, the thing is, it is not impossible. The fact is now, now I'm not saying that this is what's gonna happen or not prophecising (sic) that this is what's gonna happen, that this is how Lord is going to come to us. I'm just giving you an example because He is and He can do anything He wants, He might just decide to do that because after He built the whole world and He found out it was too nuts, He just told Noah to bring a sample of one male and one female onto that boat and He gonna clear up this world. Well and He can do that, then He just might decide to turn around and say, "Listen, you know what, that would be a fantastic joke because everybody is expecting me in one way, I might just, you know, just for the fun of it …" because who are we? We are only puppets of our Lord. He controls us and we have surrendered. So instead of making our right arm go up, He might just decide to make our left arm go up. Because we are His puppets then what is going to happen?

See that's where the problems come. The problem, you see, we arranged security for all the people who are here so that one sister, somebody doesn't walk in here and, you know, steal somebody, or doesn't do harm to anybody. Now, it's very hard and that is the reason why we have so many WPC premies looking around and constantly being on the watch. You see it would be very easy if we knew exactly who the person was who was, who was gonna, who's gonna, who was gonna be the thief. Then it would have been extremely easy for us because all we'd have to do is just keep an eye on the main entrance and as soon as we see the guy walkin' up, we just take him and say, "Listen, please leave the premises." And then we know we are safe. But you see that's not the way it goes. That guy can be anybody. I know that's a wrong example, because I am talking about a mugger and a thief.

But reverse that to Lord. He can come in any form, any shape, any time, any way (Bolie Shri Satguru Dev Maharaj Ki Jai, applause) and then we, the smart guys, will be left with our problem and we'll be taken down in the history books as one of them who when the Lord came, never realized Him. When the Lord came, they got blindfolded, when the Lord came, they ignored Him. Who knows? Again, that's completely up to you to decide whether that is going to more to happen and it's for Lord to decide whether He's gonna do it or not.

So let me tell you something, that we are all looking for peace. Now by peace I can define peace in a very many ways. To some people, see I have travelled this earth and I was in India for six months and I was born in India, after I came to West we really got our Mission going together then I went back for six months and here we went back for a couple of months again to India to take care of some problems, to see all the people who have received this Knowledge that at that point peace can be defined as a lot of different things. Let me tell you when we got to those hotels and we got in those air conditioned rooms I could have almost said that this couldn't be better than peace because it felt so good. It was hot and dry and hot wind blowin' and no shade and then it was like, it was like being in the Arab and when you come into an air conditioned room and its beautiful and that's, that's one example I can give you but I have experienced peace and I definitely knew that was not peace and then it's like sometimes we are standing up, we are standing up, we are standing up, we are standing up, we are standing up, waitin' on a line for the bus to come and this is unusual time the bus takes longer to come and we've got no seat and oh boy (short section of tape damaged) and it feels good to sit down, just what I wanted let's look at ourselves is that just what we wanted? Maybe at that very moment but not when it comes to the question of life that's not what we want so that we are always able to sit down or be in a air-conditioned room or have a nice cold refrigerated drink of water when it's hot outside and we are thirsty. Premies, ladies and gentlemen peace is a little bit different than all that, that we think. Why? It's because we have done so many things and we haven't received it till yet so it's gotta be different than what ever we have tried so far.

You see like this we have watched a different, a lotta different games and it's like if there is a puzzle and you fit it one way and that's not the right thing it'll probably be a mess cause that's not the right way and if that doesn't work then it's gotta be the next one and if that doesn't work then it's gotta be the next one. I mean along the trials that we have been giving ourselves trying to have peace in different methods today spiritually the difference is when Caesar was there he used to have his servants come and bring him Coke, something like Coca-Cola to him and he used to have his servants do the fan and he used to have these people who were soldiers defend himself. Today we are like Caesar, today the only difference is we don't have servants, we have a telephone all we have to do is call and the delivery Man is there, we have to go to the refrigerator, put a glass in and out comes the water or we want to be cold all we have to do is go to a little thermostat and turn it on 70 and out comes the cold sweet air, see it's basically the same and then instead of having our soldiers we have the United States government soldiers so it's like where has the situation really changed? We're still tied in the same manner basically to find peace, to find tranquality (sic) to find that, that mood, to find that thing. We look very hard at one point because even for the people who have written scriptures, they themselves say it gets hard when you come down to the nitty-gritty and try to verbalize something which is impossible to even say, which has no words because you see this Knowledge existed when this world was not there, when we were not there, this Knowledge was still there. Dear premies, ladies and gentlemen, I ask you when we were not there, when there was no language, no communication between people because then there couldn't be any communication between people because there were no people then what was the name of peace? There was peace because peace is infinite, it's always been that super energy that we want to experience. Scientists say it can never be created and never be destroyed so it existed and that means it must have been existing at that great time too because it never is really that ??? it was always there, then what was it called?

You see if I am an artist and I sit down with a canvas in front of me and I have been sponsored by say Divine Light Mission to make a painting of this universe before it existed. What was it like before the sun, moon, stars, earth, fire, anything, what was it like? And I can sit down, I mean I'm not a artist, I'm not a painter, I have drawn things, statues, how I'd like the house to be, how I'd would like the car, anything like that, anything very small but then a problem appears and I have sat down and tried to imagine what would a picture of this universe be before it existed and I tell you it was the thing I didn't think about it for too long otherwise I would have been you know insane. I would have been totally in the, in the hospital, tied up and strapped down because it was impossible but today by the Grace of our Lord we are His servants, we always will be His servants, we can be nevermore, we can be probably less, never less than that and even nothing where we always make errors, we always do stupid things. We are like no matter how mature we think we are. Believe me there are people, I have, I have given speeches, I have given satsang, I have given lectures in a lotta places in a lotta times and I'm pretty used to it but sometimes I foul up my words too so doesn't matter how great we think we are, we are still nothing in front of that Lord, we are still nothing in front of that power and there is only one thing we can do, to leave ourselves at His mercy and to really realize who He is and to see Him and experience His bliss and His Grace within our heart. Why am I saying that? Well, let me tell you. The reason why I am saying that is because it is possible in this age to realize and to experience that Knowledge, that peace, that satisfaction, that we have been looking for, for ages and centuries now, at this time, in this age, in this century. (applause) It is possible. It's available. It can be done. It has been done (applause) and so premies, our goal, our attempt, is to try to reveal this peace that we have experienced. You see, maybe I say a few jokes sometimes and I give stories sometimes that I just heard. There is no basis behind it. I cannot guarantee that story to you. And when I tell a joke, I have heard it, I cannot guarantee it to you that that in fact really happened and there is a lot of things that I cannot guarantee. I cannot guarantee that this world is gonna be there for three more minutes and I cannot guarantee that this world is gonna collapse in three more minutes. I cannot guarantee just about nothin' but I can guarantee one thing and that is, that we have experienced that love, that peace, that we all are looking for and by our Lord's Grace, today, by His Grace and only by His Grace today, this peace can be revealed to any human being, any being on this world, on this age, on this planet. The only requirement is that he has his heart open to accept this love and that's it.

I have said this before and I am gonna say it again. Through the Lord's Grace, you give me love and I will give you peace (applause) and this has been done a lotta times. There's over a million people who have received this peace and it's like, you know it sounds so impossible, it sounds so terribly impossible and I can understand. You see, I, my father used to go and give satsang. He was the Perfect Master of his time and only by his agya, by his, by his order, by his Grace, am I carrying on his job and He used to give satsang and there was a point in my life when I had not received Knowledge. I was a very little kid, I was in third grade, and we used to have opportunities to go and listen to his satsang, to go and listen to his discourses. Well, he used to talk about this peace and he used to talk about this Knowledge and being in the environment that I used to be in around him and everybody talking about peace and everybody talking about that, that perfect energy, it occurred to me that there had to be something like that or otherwise all these guys were bongos. But I knew one thing. I had love, I had faith, I had trust in my father and I wanted that Knowledge because I knew it existed. I wanted that peace, because I knew it existed.

Now, as I was saying, that when I started getting into the fact that there could be something like peace, believe me, it was very, very difficult and I can understand the situation of some of the people who have not received this Knowledge yet or who are aspirants. Because see, the first question that I asked myself was, "I am takin' a gamble. I am going to go and I'm gonna ask him for this Knowledge. He's gonna pull me over one day and give me this Knowledge and I am going to know this Knowledge. Well, what is it gonna be all about? Why do I even need peace? What is the purpose, what is the necessity? Why, why should I ever need peace?

You have to understand my situation. I was very little. To me, my happiness was my toys, my laughter, my smile was playing around, going around and running around the house. I mean just normal things but then I gave this a lot of thought before I realized that yes, really I want it. I want it. Without that, I am food without salt. I am a glass without water. I am the ocean without fishes. There is no beauty in me. I am the plant that doesn't have any greenery. I am the mountain which is barren. I am the sky that's pale. I am a man who is not a human being and I really realized that. I saw that in myself that I needed a coloring. I needed something, I was missing something. There was a missing link and I also knew that something had to be done about it and there was one thing that I did about it. Because I knew, I had heard my father say, my Guru Maharaj Ji say, my Perfect Master say, that he can reveal peace to anybody who comes with an open heart.

You see first when I even got into the idea about deciding should I go ahead and receive peace, should I even, do I even need peace, at that point it was a big gamble for me. I didn't want it. I didn't want to take that chance. I didn't want to take the gamble. But then when I really looked at myself, I didn't go up to a mirror and look at myself, but I searched inside of me, I felt inside of me that I am definitely missing something and that thing, when I finally pinned it down, it was like, "I am missing something. Great. I am missing something. Oh well, forget about it. I'll do that later. Let me turn on my toy right now," or "Let me go play," or "Let me, let me go and have my snacks and I'll think about peace later. I, I, I am fine and dandy without it." But then when I really searched, when I really looked, I really found that no, I was not dandy. I thought, I was making a fool of myself. I thought I was okay. I was not okay and I really needed that peace.

I went to Guru Maharaj Ji, Maharaj Ji called us and he revealed this Knowledge to us and then it was beautiful. Then everything was so clear, everything was splendid, everything was great. Can you imagine putting together a puzzle of 5,333 pieces and only having 5,332 pieces, having one link missing from it? And that very link that sits right in the heart of that puzzle? Doesn't matter you put the whole thing together. It is not worth going and showing it to somebody and saying, "Look, I put the puzzle together." And he's gonna say, "Oh yeah? Well, what's that hole in the middle?" And that's what happens.

So premies and ladies and gentlemen, we have something. We offer it to you, free of charge. We want you to have it. That is the very reason why we offer it to you. Otherwise I could have been sitting in a college. Well, not today I wouldn't have been, because today is Sunday but I could have been sitting in a college and learning and getting my degree and whatnot and if somebody came along and said, "Uh well, do you want peace?" I would say, "Are you kidding? I got a nice degree goin' for myself, I got a wife, I got a nice, beautiful daughter. What do I need peace for?"

But see, it's altogether a different story now, because I have found that puzzle, I have found that missing link and as soon as I found that missing link, I became everything, I became one with everything and therefore I became everything. Not as a individual but by merging into that infinite thing which has no beginning, which has no end, which cannot be created, which cannot be destroyed and we have it, for you, for you to experience. You can ask us so that you can understand, so that you can experience, to realize. We can offer it, we are offering it to you. We are not forcing it down your throat, believe me, we are not. We are just offering it to you. If you want something like this, look in your heart. Do you feel? Don't feel for a missing valve and don't feel for a hole in your heart, but feel. Now, now, I'm not talking about this heart. This heart goes on and on and on and on until it's time for you to go. That's when it quits. Not in this heart. There is another heart that doesn't pump blood out of your system but pumps love through you. Look in that heart. Have the blood pressure checked on that heart. You will find that there is something missing and if you do, you have an open invitation any time, to come and have this Knowledge at any time you want.

We are revealing this, this Knowledge to you, you see. Actually, as I said before that we have this Knowledge to offer but we don't even, we can't even offer it to you. The reason is because we, this is not something that we pull out of our pocket and say, "Here. That'll be five cents." Or we, we give you all this big rap about Knowledge and peace and everything and then we say, "You see the yellow tent over there? Go down there and put five cents in that machine and you'll get Knowledge out of it." No, it's nothing like that. This is something which is within inside of you and it's revealed to you. So if you want it, you are most welcome. You are most welcome.

But before you do even approach anybody about this Knowledge, I request you to do one thing. It's to look within inside of you, in your heart and see that you do really have a missing link because I don't want you to be talked into something like this and then tomorrow you realize that you didn't even need it and then you say, "That guy was speaking just nothing but lies, a buncha lies." The reason is I don't want to be called a liar and I am not a liar. I have got this Truth and I'm revealing this Truth to people because I know and I have experienced it and with me, more than a million people have experienced it but first, I want you to find out for yourself, do you need it, do you want it, are you ready for it and if you are, if you want it, you are more than welcome to receive it.

So premies, ladies and gentlemen, I can't really say much more. The decision is up to you. The Lord will always be there but the opportunity for you to seek Him, to find Him, is not always going to be there because Lord is unlimited and you are not. You are very limited. Maybe our lifetime of fifty years, one hundred years, one hundred and twenty years, is a split second on our Lord's watch. He is always going to be there. He's always got opportunities. He's always come to, going to come after one decade after another, after another. Are we?

Let's be practical about it. Let's forget about reincarnations for a second. Let's just be practical about it because I don't think anybody has gone and died and come back again and said, "Yeah. There is something like reincarnation." Let's just be practical about it. Maybe there is reincarnation, maybe there isn't. I think it makes more sense to be practical about things. So let's be practical about it. Are we going to be there? Or are we not going to be there?

So now is the time, now is the opportunity, to receive, to understand, that beautiful, beautiful Knowledge because it can be done. Thank you very much, may God bless you. (applause)
