Prem Rawat Unrehearsed Poetry: The Journey
The true journey of our life
begins the day
we seek to quench our thirst.
It is not the day
we took our first breath.
That day all the windows were closed
and all the shades were pulled down.
We couldn't see. We had no idea
how far we had traveled,
how far we had come,
where we were, what to look for,
or where we should be.
Then the day comes
when we begin the journey.
On this journey of life,
there is a compass:
the thirst to be fulfilled.
We have been given this compass;
it is already ours.
We've been given a thirst in life so that
we can seek out a way to quench it.
And the compass
points and points and points.
It points within, to our heart,
to where clarity and joy reside.
And that is where we need to journey-
within.
And so it begins.
The most fundamental of the journeys
does not begin in ambiguity.
It begins in clarity,
and it begins with the
acknowledgment that the most
beautiful,
the most incredible resides within us.
So many journeys are afoot.
We are passengers.
Each of us is a passenger
on the train of life,
and none of us
are riding on the same train.
Our cars have come to this platform
and have stopped here.
Everyone is worried,
wondering about the destination.
I remind people
that we are very fortunate
to be on this journey.
I tell them, "When you leave here, don't
think about the next station
you will come to.
Just enjoy your journey
as you go along.
There are beautiful things to come.
Don't miss your train. Enjoy"
We are passengers.
And where are we going?
We are passengers to be passengers
to take the journey
for the sheer pleasure
of the journey itself.
When the journey is so beautiful,
it is taken for its own sake.
This is the journey of life.
It need not have a destination.
It is beautiful because it is.
The journey is made every day.
It is going to be made
whether we are completely happy
or completely miserable.
It keeps going.
At one point in our lives,
we didn't know that we had a choice.
We accepted what we were told:
"This is life.
Roll with the punches.
Take the good with the bad."
Then someone comes along and says,
"No.
You have a choice.
You can choose to find
the joy and beauty in life.
Every day that you connect
with the joy and beauty within
will be a much better day,
and you will understand
that life is a privilege."
The quest to be fulfilled
is the most noble one.
Those who have the courage because
they have understood their privilege
will take this journey.
