A Summary of the End Section of the Divine Light Mission film Who Is Guru Maharaj Ji? of 1974
In late 2009 a former community audio/visual co-ordinator for Divine Light Mission was cleaning out his attic and contacted the Ex-Premie Forum to see if anyone might want the boxes of tapes, magazines and some 35mm films that he hadn't destroyed when ordered to in the early 1980's. The film quality had deteriorated during the 30 years but were professionally converted to DVDs.
The film ends with a 4½ minute section in which the young Rawat shows some enthusiasm trying to run down to a tractor and driving it about a muddy field for no apparent reason. His Indian followers seem to consider themselves fortunate to abase themselves in full body pranams in the mud while he ignores them or to be pushed into the muddy water in one of the mean-spirited practical jokes for which he would become slightly famous. It does appear that even at that age, it is only behind the wheel of some machine, the more powerful the better, that is he happy. The film makers deserve full credit for not leaving these scenes on the cutting room floor, he is not an attractive person.
