Maharaji in Delhi: An Expression of the Heart 8th March 2003 PWK-016

Today, today, I'd like to welcome everyone who has come to this huge stadium with my heartfelt greetings. Today, we have an opportunity to listen to Maharaji's message. Maharaji was given the name Prem Rawat by his parents. Out of love, respect, and appreciation, people have addressed him as Maharaji, Balyogeshwar Maharaj, and Guru Maharaji. In 1971, when Maharaji was 13 years old and went to the West for the first time, there were very few people there who had received his Knowledge and were enjoying it in their lives. But once Maharaji stepped foot in the West, he kept moving forward. Today, throughout the world, people listen to Maharaji's message in more than 80 countries. His message is translated into more than 60 languages. Just recently, Maharaji was invited to give an address at the Bangkok United Nations Conference Center. In the past three or four months, he has been on tour in India, visiting 20 cities, including Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Varanasi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Dachi, Chandigarh, conducting beautiful events and reaching out to hundreds of thousands of people. I feel fortunate to have this opportunity today to welcome Maharaji at this unprecedented event. So let us all, with love, with joy, and from the heart, welcome Maharaji.
There are a lot of people gathered here today, and they want to hear. What have they come to hear? First and foremost, I would like to remind you that what I am speaking about is within you. It's not far from you. It is within you. That which I am speaking about cannot be found on the outside. It is within you.
When I say that, that it is within, still many people understand. They have heard that something is within, but it is a bit like having heard that the Eiffel Tower is in Paris, but you've never seen it. So even if somebody speaks about it, you'll say, yes, I have heard that name. But if you have not seen it in reality for yourself, then what is it? What does it look like? Maybe you have seen it in a photo, but to be able to stand there and look up and see it, see its color, is entirely different. To see it in a picture is one thing, the photo is just one, it's just so big. To see a photo of the Eiffel Tower is pretty common.

I will give you another example. When people are going shopping in a bazaar, they make a list of all the things they need. They are going shopping to get the things they need. What would be the point of buying things that are already in the house? So people make lists. They look in the kitchen. Do we have milk? Yes, we have plenty. We need that right now. Do we have salt? Yes, we have lots of salt. But we are running out of turmeric. Make sure to get some turmeric. So you need to understand that a list is being made of things that have either run out or will soon, and that is the reason that those particular things are being bought. If there is a lot of salt in the house and you buy more, what do you think will happen? If your wife has written salt in the list and you bought it, afterwards when you see that there is a lot of salt in the house, you will say, dear wife, you are wasting money.
Money is something that people are afraid of spending. They are afraid. They do not want to spend it because they know that it takes a lot of hard work to earn it. It is not good to waste it. This is just an example. It is just an example. You too are spending something. And what you are spending is even more valuable than money. If someone owns stocks and the value of the stock goes down, the person might say, we will just wait a little bit. They could go up. The stock market keeps going up and down. Sometimes you become richer and sometimes you become poorer.
However, there is one thing that is so valuable that if somebody wants to buy even one, not two, not ten, not twenty, but just one, they will not be able to. What am I talking about? I am talking about your breath. In this world, we buy things. We have a desire to receive respect. We work hard to earn money. We do many things. We keep doing one thing or another to gain self-esteem and respect. And we want to have more and more joy in our lives. So we try to buy that, but not with money. Not with money. This money of breath, these diamonds of breath, is what we are using to buy these things. But in fact, the joy that we are trying to buy on the outside is already present inside. This means we are incurring a loss. We are trying to buy something we already have an abundance of, but it is not being used. This is very simple.
If what I am saying was divided into three parts, the first part would be, do you know what is inside of you? Do you understand the grace the Creator has showered upon you? Endless. A grace that has no end. Endless. Through endless grace, you have been given this human body. People say, is it the same for a donkey? I know. Go ask a donkey. If you find out, please email me or fax me. Let me know. I talk about living human beings. People ask, what will happen to me when I die? I tell them, I know. So let's make a deal. If you find out before I do, you let me know, and if I find out before you, I will let you know.

I speak about today, because this breath came into you today. Will it come tomorrow? If the grace that brought it today is there, then it will come again tomorrow, but I do not know. It is so amazing the way the nature is. This wealth has been given to you, but how much you have, you do not know. The wealth has been given to you, but how much you have, you do not know. And you will spend it, whether you like it or not. It will be spent. But what will you spend it on? That is up to you. If it is spent on things that will profit you, there are business people here, and actually everybody tries to save money. So everyone knows about profit and loss. So I'll just talk about profit and loss.
Why? Because what is gone is gone. What is gone is gone. If the Creator had given you life, and said that you would only get a specific number of breaths, and not even one more, then you could at least keep count, couldn't you? Then there would be no need for me to come and speak to you here. No one would need to remind you because you would have kept an account. Oh, I only have two thousand left. Now I only have a thousand left. Then you probably wouldn't even fall asleep at night because what you need to do, if you need to fulfill this life, is to fulfill it, and you wouldn't worry about anything else. You want to fulfill this life. But the Creator gave you breath, and He didn't let you know how many you are going to have. Even if He had, you do not know how many have gone, and how many are still to come. You have no account. You cannot hire a CPA for this. No one can become an accountant for this, but this breath is coming into you now, and you all know that one day it will stop. People do not like to hear that. When I speak about it, people say, why do you talk about this? This is not a good thing.
It's not a good thing, I understand, but it will happen, right? There are three things. You were born, you have this life, and one day you will be gone. One has already happened. That is why you are sitting here. If you had not been born, then how could you come here? So one has happened, one is happening, and one is yet to happen. The one that is happening is so beautiful. It is so beautiful that if we start accepting it in our lives, if it is welcomed, you were welcomed here today. The MC came and welcomed you here, in this Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. I welcome you.

I too welcome you. Not here, but I welcome you to your life. It is possible that no one has done that before. It is possible that no one has done that before. On birthdays, people have cakes and put candles on them. The person whose birthday it is blows out the candles. Do you know why? When someone is ten years old, ten candles are put on the cake, and they blow them out, meaning that ten years are gone. And everyone claps. Everyone claps. It is actually something to cry about, because those years are gone. They are not coming back. Please light those candles again. Even then, those years are not coming back. So understand that. The most important thing is, do you accept that supreme bliss is within you? That supreme joy is within you? The second thing, how did the thirst to know this come about inside you? How did the thirst to know this come about inside you? Listen to that call.
This thirst was not your doing. This thirst was not your doing. This thirst for this joy has been placed within the human being in a very natural way. This is your nature. You cannot change it. When you are happy, you smile. You cannot change that. When you have pain, you cry. You cannot change that. People try. People try. If something funny happens, like someone's pants rip, if they are adults, you want to laugh at them. So you try to stay serious. But when it becomes really funny, the attempt to stay serious stops, and you burst out laughing. Who taught you that? That too is a natural thing. This is your nature to laugh. It is your nature, when you see something beautiful, to experience joy. That is your nature. When you smell something bad, then you say, that is also your nature. And when something fragrant wafts by your nose, you say, that is also your nature. You weren't taught that. You didn't need to learn it. When you are hungry, and you smell just a little fragrance of the food, you say, wow, this smells wonderful. And your stomach starts to growl.
You need to be taught this. You do not need to go to school for this. It is your nature. So understand your nature. Because if you do not understand your nature, then it is like, the train has started, but no one knows where it is headed. So the traveler is sitting down, and he knows where he got on, but he has no idea where he is going. The plane took off, but no one has any idea where they are going, where they are going to stop. They look around saying, how did we get here? So if you want to understand even a little bit, you need to understand what your nature is. Your nature is to love joy, to love that supreme bliss. Your nature is to fulfill this life. And even if you do not want to, it is still your nature. It is innate, and you cannot change it. You cannot change it. Everything has its own nature, and your nature is to fulfill this life. Your nature is to say, I want to feel, to experience that supreme joy in my lifetime. This is my nature. So I should understand it. So this is the second thing. And the third thing is, that if I understand my nature, I can understand my thirst. Without thirst, the value of water is not understood. Where there is thirst, the value of water is automatically understood.
People say, try to find out what you were in your last lifetime, and I say to them, go to the bank and say that in your last lifetime you deposited billions and billions of rupees and now you want that money back in this lifetime. They will call the security guard and have you thrown out of the bank. The bank people know, right? They know there is no such thing. If you go to the bank and say, here, take this money and let the interest keep collecting, collecting into my next lifetime. I will not withdraw any of the principal now, but give the interest to me now in advance. Nobody will give that to you. Nobody will give that to you. Why? Because it is about now. In business, they talk about now, they talk about today, and in your life too. It should be about today. It should be about now as well. So this is what I am talking about. Fulfill your life. People say to me, what can you do? I can help you. That's it. All I can do is help you. And I can only do that when you want it. People say to me, give it to me, give it to me. I say no. Until you understand your thirst, you will not receive anything. First, understand your thirst. Try to understand your thirst.
People say, give me, give me, because that's their habit. When they find something nice in a bazaar, they just go and buy it. I try to explain that I am not selling anything here. This Knowledge is not for sale. There is nothing to be bought. This is about understanding. Try to understand. Try to understand what this life is. Try to understand what this breath is. Try to understand what you have been given. Only then will you be able to fulfill this life.
If you are thirsty, drink. And I am not saying, come to me only. Go. Go wherever you want to go. However you want to go. However you want to quench this thirst. Make the effort to quench the thirst. That is your duty. And if you are not able to quench it anywhere, I am here. I am here. I say, just come to me and just receive it from me only. No, I say search for it. And if you cannot quench your thirst anywhere else, then my well has water. I know where it is. I can quench that thirst.
I have always said that if you like it, fine. If you like it, no problem. Someone asked me, what is the difference between what you say and religion? I say religion teaches about what will happen after you die. And I teach you what can happen while you are alive. Religion speaks about liberation after death. I speak about liberation while you are alive. And there is a big difference between the two. But one thing I cannot forget. One thing I cannot forget. When I am hungry, I go to the kitchen and ask, is there anything to eat? There are lots and lots of cookbooks there. Lots of books. But I cannot go to the books and get food from them. When I am hungry, I need something to put in my mouth, not in my eyes. In my mouth. I need something to chew on when I am hungry.
In the same way, in the same way, when I have a hunger within, no matter what I believe in, no matter what religion I follow, it does not mean that I should stay hungry. People ask, if I believe what you say, will I have to leave my religion? Why? Why would you have to leave your religion? You want to have that faith in that Creator? Fine. You want to have a religion? Fine. Look, when the breath does not say to you, since you believe in this religion, I am not going to come into you, the breath does not look at anyone's religion, then why should human beings look at each other's religion? Everyone has their own faith in their own way and wants to worship their Creator in their own way. And it is everyone's right to worship that power in their own way. It is not anyone's right to say, only this is right or only that is right. The main thing is for human beings to see each other as human beings. To see each other as human beings. If somebody becomes a politician and people say, that is a politician, I look at them and say, that is a human being. If someone is wearing saffron, people say, oh, that is a Mahatma. I say, that is a human being. How do I see myself? You've heard a lot about me in the introduction.
People ask me, do you call yourself God? And I say, never. God is definitely within me, just like God is within you. I am a human being, just as you are a human being.
And as long as human beings have not learned to respect each other, this peace will not manifest from the outside. And if a human being wants to learn to respect other human beings, first and foremost, they need to respect themselves, respect their breath, respect their life. And the moment they start to respect those things, they will start to respect others and then peace will be possible.
Someone asked me recently, how will you bring peace on this earth? I gave him the example of a football field, of a place just like the stadium. I said, if there is a big stadium and you want it to be lit up, how can you do that? You will have to light up the light bulbs. One by one, the bulbs have to be lit up. When the bulbs light up, then there will be light. Each human being is like one of the bulbs. The stadium is the world. And if you want light on this earth, each human being will have to be lit up like the bulbs and that will bring light everywhere. Then the whole stadium will be bright and filled with light. People say, this is impossible. Okay, let's believe that it's impossible, but let us make the effort. If all of our efforts fail, then at least we will know for sure, at least we will know for sure that it was not possible. But if we do not make any effort, then how can we say that it is impossible? We have to make the effort and I am doing that. There is no lack of problems or obstacles. People say whatever they like. People say, no, it's like this and it's like that. And I say, that's fine. I do not want to argue with anyone. I want nothing to do with arguments.
I just put forth one thing, that within you is everything. If you have a thing called joy on your shopping list, then you're wasting money. What kind of money? The money of the breath. That is what is being wasted. On this list, do not make arrangements for anything like joy that has already been taken care of and is inside of you. In your life, it has already been placed within you. If any of you would like to hear more, you are most welcome. If you want to hear anymore, I appreciate that you came and listened. I just hope that you haven't felt like you wasted your time. And if sometime you have the time and you're sitting there breathing, then just think about how precious this breath that is coming in and out really is. Make the effort to fulfill this life in whatever way is possible. Fulfill this life.
Blessings to everyone.
