Who Is Guru Maharaj Ji? (part 2)
To allow more efficient viewing the transcript is in two sections. This is the 2nd section.
There was a series of testimonies by prominent followers of Rawat, including his future wife. This may be how she came to his attention.
When they were filming the Guru Puja festival in London in July 1973 they didn't realise this was the highpoint of Prem Rawat's career in the West. The Divine Light Mission bandwagon seemed to be accelerating into the stratosphere to meet the incoming Kohoutek Comet but it all came back to earth with a thud in November at the Houston Astrodome Millenium 73 fiasco. There is a full, though edited, transcript of Prem Rawat's speech on 13th July 1973 here.
Guru Puja Festival (Guru Worship) July 1973, London, England.
Now I am going to say a very funny word to the world and this word sounds just very very strange to this world, but for that purpose we have all assembled here and that's "peace".
You see peace in this world has become very strange for people. Peace in this universe has become a antique. It has become unique. It's like a antique thing that uh was there thousands and thousands and thousands of years ago and if now somebody sees it he says "Wow, you got a peace." This is what it is peace has become into this world, and always a Perfect Master has come into this world to reveal this Knowledge, to reveal this peace. I'm not talking about one saint, all the pictures you see. I think even more have come into this world to reveal this spiritual Knowledge, to reveal this peace that we have forgotten. And if we want to today receive and achieve this point of peace, we have to go to him who is known as Perfect Master.
Now when we say the words "Perfect Master" let me tell you this, it just sounds very strange to people, news medias, it just sounds very strange to them and one of the questions they put before me or before premies, people who have received this Knowledge, is that why do you call him Perfect Master? Why do you think he is Perfect Master? Well, according to them what they presume is that those people who say that I am Perfect Master they're trying to say that I am just very perfect. But the point is that they are not realising that what is the real meaning of Perfect Master is. Why do they call me Perfect Master?
See, if someone teaches you Maths, if someone teaches you English, if someone teaches you Science, you call him Maths master, English master, Science master, respectively. Same way, I can teach people peace. Again, I have to tell this to people, that I am not prophet, I'm not a prophet, I am just an ordinary human being with two legs, two eyes, and I work, and I voluntarily put myself here, so that I can reveal this Knowledge to people. I think because people need it, people have forgotten what this Knowledge is, and I am just teaching them perfectness and that's why they call me Perfect Master. And as a matter of fact, I am Perfect Master, because I can reveal them this peace. Not saying that I am bodily perfect, I'm not saying I am perfect because of this reason or that reason, but simply one reason because I can reveal them this Knowledge, which is perfect.
Song: If you wanna go to heaven
Guru Maharaj Ji will take you there
All my sins are taken away
All my sins are taken away …
Bolie Shri Satguru Dev Maharaj Ki Jai
Bolie Shri Satguru Dev Maharaj Ki Jai …
We have all assembled here, or at least supposed to be assembled here, to listen and to talk about this strange thing. Supposedly a phenomena to the world called this peace. Everybody is looking for this, in different ways, of course. Some people think it's in money, some people think it's in the external pleasures, some people think it's in the Himalayas, some people think it's in the nature. People are looking for it in different, different ways, but really it is in one place -- right within our hearts.
Now I think that's the same exact position with the whole world today. The whole world wants peace. Everybody wants peace. Now maybe we don't call it peace, maybe we call it peace of mind. Maybe we don't call it peace of mind, we call it Knowledge. Maybe if we don't call it meet er peace, we call it God. Maybe we don't call it God, we call we call it the Word. If we don't call it the Word, maybe we call it the primordial vibration. But it all comes to one point, that we need something. And that something that everybody is looking for is peace.
Why I we have assembled here. … Now I personally I don't I don't have to say anything see I can't promise anything to you except one thing. I can't say I will do this I can't say I will I will stop stop the war in Viet Nam; I, I can't promise all these things. But I can promise you one thing. I can promise you satisfaction of mind, I can promise you peace. Cause I have a method.
Now this thing that is within inside of us, it does not mean a change of religion. You can be a Christian, still follow it; you can be a Hindu, still follow it; you can be anybody following any religion of any caste, creed, color, nationality, coming from the north or south pole, coming from underwater, overwater, underland, overland, anywhere. If you are human being, if you are human being, that's it. That's good enough for you to realize this Knowledge, for you to experience the bliss within inside of us, it's beautiful, it's fantastic.
Well, that's all I have to say about this. And next it's completely up to you.
The final scene: Rawat driving a tractor about a field (for no real purpose but to be filmed or because he was bored) and clowning around with his entourage. Click here to see a summary of it
