Prem Rawat Sprays His Devotees With Holy Water

These clips are taken from a video of the 1980 Divine Light Mission Holi Festival at the Orange Bowl, Miami, Florida on the 11-13th April. The 23 year old Prem Rawat then calling himself Guru Maharaj Ji was neither a good speaker, nor did he have a good command of English nor, on the evidence of these transcripts, did he have much to say but simplistic criticism of others and outrageous claims about himself. Comparing this transcript with those in Divine Light Mission publications reveals the extent of the editing by his followers of his published speeches.
In front of his followers he strongly criticises other religions and claims that all other "Perfect Masters", like himself, had to "fight religion", that Jesus 'revealed' the same Knowledge ie meditation, satsang, service and darshan as he does and that Christianity has nothing to do with Jesus and that religions never bring peace only fighting. He teaches that the Perfect Master, the Lord, the Master, the Creator, the Giver of everything and Guru Maharaj Ji are identical and obedience to Himself is required under all conditions: "wherever Guru Maharaj Ji goes, in whichever way he flows". While he doesn't use the word 'Savio(u)r' that day he does insist that everyone needs to be saved by him and that people must have faith in him and that "it's only the devotees that are right, that's the law"
He demands that his followers forgo coffee and donuts and do 'propagation' instead ie proselytise amongst the public, as if selling Prem Rawat as the Perfect Master and Lord of the Universe is not a near impossible task. There are also songs from the soundtrack that were played at the event (click here for actual recordings of the music played at the event). Some of the streaming videos have been removed from Youtube for a claimed "copyright infringement" by Élan Vital. Rawat is so embarrassed (and understandably so) by his earlier ravings that he will take legal action to try to prevent them being seen.

You look at the same thing with Hinduism. I don't even know that most of the Hindus know where the generation of Hinduism begins, you know, you look at the, you look at this whole world and there is, you know, the scientific fact that the world definitely did exist, you know, before the set amount of time and that it didn't quite start off with Adam and Eve, you know, eating an apple and doing the whole thing. And yet you look at every single religion and you find that a whole bunch of people come together who probably never even saw the Perfect Master in his life and they start something because they want something to believe in and every time a Perfect Master comes there is always the possibility of starting off a new religion. Which Perfect Master hasn't come yet and has fought religion? Every Perfect Master that comes in this world, the first thing he has to do, is he's got all this, all this work cut out for Him, you know, He's gotta save the people, he's gotta find His devotees, He's gotta give them Knowledge, you know, and, and take care of His confused premies, not so confused premies, you know, keep tabs on propagation, give satsang to the people who want Knowledge, you know, and, and keep and besides having all that work cut out for Him, He's gotta somehow fight religion, every Perfect Master has fought religion.
Yet nobody has ever learnt yet why not just do away with 'em? Make it one step simpler, when Perfect Master comes in this world he wouldn't have to fight religion, you know, cause what has it brought? Never peace, people fight, you know, I mean look at in Christianity says very clearly love, you know, thy neighbour and there are these neighbours, you know, fighting it against each other in, in uh Ireland. Love they neighbour tat tat tat tat, you know. (pretends to shoot gun, laughter) I'm sending you to Heaven earlier than you expected (laughter).
Look at Hinduism and Muslim, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight When India and Pakistan happened, when they were separated, a train filled with
people, massacred, everyone of them massacred on the train. Train full of dead bodies would arrive in India from Pakistan and train full of dead bodies would arrive in Pakistan from India. They just
stopped the train, get on and butcher everybody except of course the driver and send the train on. ???? When not, when not has this been happening? Every single time and yet, regardless of all that,
Guru Maharaj Ji comes in this world. What is the? Have you ever even imagined satsang in your whole life? When you first received satsang, was that, wasn't your lower jaw hanging down? You know, and
didn't something after a few minutes kick you in the behind and say "My God, that's really true." You know, (applause) not in your imagination that you understood satsang, not in your philosophy, not
in your wildest dreams. So many people had given up hopes and just when they heard the news. I remember in Colorado in uh in Boulder, had a little tepee and a little house, you know, and I'd just sit
there under the tepee and a whole bunch of premies, whole bunch of aspirants would come and they would have all their questions, you know, why this, why that, why, how can I receive because it's like
knowledge, it, you can't even comprehend Knowledge by just saying 'knowledge' cause Knowledge has nothing to do with the word 'knowledge' itself.
Knowledge is 180 degrees opposite, the difference of day and night, that what your little brain can think of by saying' knowledge', Knowledge in fact has got nothing to do with it. Know what, it doesn't tell you anything. You have all received Knowledge, what does it tell you? Now you know how to distinguish a Lear jet from a Falcon? Now you can tell a white light from a green light? Now you tell a mercury from a fluorescent? What? What does it tell you? Nothing, it gives you an experience that's everything. It gives you an experience that you don't need to talk about. It has nothing to do, absolutely nothing to do with this worldly knowledge. It doesn't help you a bit, you know, there's so many people that used to come up to me, they used to have this question, "Does Knowledge help you in this physical life?" What is this physical life? Where do you need help? What, in getting yourself killed? Want some help in getting your self killed? You want some help in getting confused? You want some help in sinking in the darkness even faster? Where do you need the help in this world? No, we need to be bailed out of this world, we need to be pulled out of this misery. We need happiness and what is it that truly makes us happy? A joke, a this, a that? No, because we'd only, you see the problem with this world is we don't even understand the meaning of happiness, let alone we try to become happy. How can we become happy when we don't even know what it is? We do all the superficial things that will perhaps make us happy. Only the Perfect Master knows what it is to be happy. Only the Perfect Master knows how to make people happy because he makes them eternally happy. He makes them happy in their heart. They don't have to smile about something. They smile because they want to smile. There's something inside of us that wants to open up. That happiness, it doesn't even exist in the English dictionary or in the Sanskrit or any dictionary.

The Perfect Master, to us, to everyone sitting in this hall, the Perfect Master is only a concept to you. Cause you know English and when the word 'Perfect' and 'Master' is
said, something goes click, click, click, click and "Oh Perfect Master, right." Your response ??? to a Perfect Master is about as quick or about as something as, as "Glass of water, please", you
know. And yet is that Perfect Master? Nobody has ever been able to predict a Perfect Master, what its gonna be like, how its gonna be and the Perfect Master comes, that Master comes, that teacher
comes to the whatever because its in itself the word 'Master' is a concept. Maybe He won't come to teach at all. Maybe it all he'll come to alter some course and yet He comes and teach what? He shows
us something, more than teaching, the ultimate that is beyond the descriptions of every, every word we've got, every concept we have got.
And there's only one way to really understand that, there's only one way to really realize that, it's to let ourselves be meant it, let ourselves go, let ourselves surrender cause we cannot fight that, that power. We cannot, we cannot tackle it, there's nobody strong enough to tackle it, we have to surrender, we have to let go. In this world, more you believe in this world, more you have to realize that more it's gonna betray you. More you realize that it's gonna betray you, more you can separate from it. More you can become like a lotus, which, which is rooted inside that water. Its roots extend in that dirt and yet it floats on top. That's what Guru Maharaj Ji makes us. He makes us that Lotus, he can make us that what is pure and premies, to me, that's our purpose of life. To let the Master come and give us that experience. Open up to that perfectness, open us, open ourselves up to that experience, not to our concepts, not to our egos, not to our misery.
And there's only one way to really understand that, there's only one way to really realize that, it's to let ourselves be meant it, let ourselves go, let ourselves surrender cause we cannot fight that, that power. Talking about bringing that, you know because what, what, what, what, what all is our destiny before Knowledge. There's so many premies here, you know, what were they, what were they gonna do, what
were they gonna become? No, for, for so many, no, Marilyn had ideas she wanted to become a nun. Anyway, she was all she was a stewardess and somehow she would have had to get back on the ground and
become a nun, you know, that's what her idea, she wanted to become a nun. If John Hampton would have found anything better he would have still been in the army probably, mm. So, every single case
history that we've got, you know, ??? there are people who are definite thugs and they'd still be thugging if, ah, they were left too.
Look, we've gotta face it, that we're all sinners, you know, that's the only way you can come. If you were already saved, what are you doing here? If you were saved, then where do you fit into the whole process of being saved? Nobody is saved. We have to be saved, yes. We can be saved, yes. And we should be saved, yes. We should find that Master, yes. Because Guru Maharaj Ji makes it so simple and we make it so sophisticated. Every single time the Master comes, open His arms and says, "Let me in. Let me in. You know, it reminds me of that song, you know, that the Lord becomes a beggar and it goes in this, in front of this devotee's house and knocks on the, on the door and the song is just going, you know, saying, "Oh devotee, you know, your fortune is really come, your, your, your luck, your, your destiny is unfolding now. The Creator, the Giver of everything is at your door begging from you. From you." That has created, that sustains, that destroys, that holds this ultimate, this holds this universe in the palm of his hands has come to your door, do not refuse. Which Master didn't come to everyone of these human beings and come to me open up. Regardless of our confusion, regardless of our concepts.

And yet premies, there's only one way, there's only one way where we can just experience, because that's all we can do is experience that experience that Guru Maharaj Ji wants
to give us. If we try to reason with that experience then where will we be? What, what are you gonna reason, what is there to reason? You know, in that reasoning is how we sometimes end up being
confused. If we just experience, just experience, just flow and just flow and just flow, then it, then it all makes sense. It all becomes, you know, that part of the picture that Guru Maharaj Ji
wants to paint, not us, you know, because we think, yeah, we've gotta paint our pictures too, you know. Do we? Is that brush in our hands for cleaning the floor or for painting a picture? And
sometime we get it confused. And ??? it is for something else. And, you know, every single moment if we look, if we can really open up then we'll see that Guru Maharaj Ji is providing us with that
inspiration. This is, this is a live, this is a live thing. This doesn't come from scriptures. This doesn't come from concepts. This doesn't come from ideas. This is all alive, every single bit of it
is live. There's nobody's written theory, nobody even imagined it, you know, the picture is ??? painted as it goes along. Every single day is being painted as it goes along, you know, the glory of
this Knowledge is, is booming in those hearts that really open themselves, that are really surrendering to Guru Maharaj Ji. What is it? That's the beauty of Knowledge. That's the beauty of Guru
Maharaj Ji. You know. Just to be always in that constant touch. Just to be always, just all what you have to be, what you have to do to be a premie. Be a devotee, that's all. You don't have to be,
B.A. and majored in history, archeologist, you know. You don't have to be any of that, just be a premie. And premies, how lucky are we? There is no, there is no way that can be described. This Kali
Yug, this age of darkness, you know that we were having this ashram meeting and this is what I was saying.
And this is, this is literally the peak of the age of darkness and you know it's been said that's when the Golden Age will begin. And for me, for that devotee who has devoted himself, the Golden Age begin the day he ???? That's when it has begin for everyone of those devotees. It doesn't matter if they were in hell or if they were in heaven, that's when their life really begins. Before that, what was it? It was just a whole bunch of ideas piled up in one place. A whole bunch of curious anxieties, a whole bunch of anticipation, a whole bunch of, you know, mass of ideas. And we don't have to be a part of any of that. Because what Guru Maharaj Ji gives us gives us that chance to surrender, to let go, to let go of everything that we hang on to that we think, "Oh yeah, this is mine, this is mine, this is mine."

This is the way it is that in this life, in this chance, in this opportunity, this Grace comes to us from Guru … This is a gift from Guru Maharaj Ji to us, to surrender now to Guru Maharaj Ji.
To experience what Guru Maharaj Ji wants to have, wants us to experience. Look, look we've gotta take these hints sooner or later and find Guru Maharaj Ji in our lives because how long,
how long you gonna hide, you know, cause what's happening that you're supposed to find Guru Maharaj Ji. Guru Maharaj Ji ends up finding you. You get so lost, you gotta find Guru Maharaj Ji.
"Where are you? Where could He be?" and you know before you even know it that's what you're trying to do. "What am I doing here? What am I trying to do? Who am I looking for? Who am I looking for?"
You know you're looking for Guru Maharaj Ji. You're looking for somebody who can save you. Why? Because everyone of us needs to be saved. We're all falling and falling and falling. When you look at it,
just imagine this entire universe is one grain of sand. Just that. Our solar system and solar systems beyond I mean if you really had to look at it you could see that there are multi solar systems
and all of that all everything put together into one universe and yet the universe itself being finite. And yet this entire universe being surrounded by which is neither darkness nor is light.
That this entire universe that we live on is only a tiny grain of sand and we're just these itsy bitsy little micro-organisms running around this little piece of sand you know making our colonies
and making our little homes and making our little houses and being little miserables and ha ha ha and doing our little things you know and in this little itsy bitsy grain of sand.
Our whole life span of 60, 70, 80 years is only one second on somebody's clock. Then what? To take you beyond all those realms this is why Guru Maharaj Ji comes because we're so lost, we're so desperately lost. I mean I know there are premies you know sitting in the balcony "I'm not lost" or there are people who have a definite idea of thinking "How can I be lost? I'm so educated, I'm so this, I'm so that." You know, and yet, yet we are all lost and there's only one person who knows the way, who can show us the way, who can save us and that's where we gotta be yeah cause to me ?? you know to that question, what is it? Why, why, why am I here? It's because I wanna be here. I mean truly I look forward towards festivals. Why? Not because a festival is gonna happen. I don't care about any of the festivities that around surround us. I couldn't care anything about them and yet the premies, the premies will come. I'll be able to see the premies you know cause for for me you know the premies are necessary and for premies Guru Maharaj Ji is necessary and that's what we have to understand. Not any expectations, not that "I will do this or I will do that" but there is when there is an inspiration you know because look you know maybe this is a this is a thing and and I wonder a lotta times about it is that you know to try to get me to dance there is this thing to try to get me to dance right and everybody goes at it and more at it and these musicians start playing music and it goes faster and faster and and you know they've got all these little songs all worked out. They don't even play my beat you know (laughter) and and somehow this whole circumstance well neither does Holy Jesters you know and somehow there is this whole thing that Guru Maharaj Ji is dancing based upon this and this and this. Hey? No, because the dancing comes from that inspiration within inside of me that wants to make me dance or wants to make me sing or wants to make me smile or wants to make me laugh you know because so far there is that inner connection between you and me then something will manifest for you and something will manifest for me.
Then there can be that love for everyone of us in this in this hall. For every devotee there can be that link to their Guru Maharaj Ji in which they can love their Guru Maharaj Ji and their Guru Maharaj Ji can love them you know understood. Not not ever have to be described. Not ever have to be said vocally because this is so you know it's so strange sometimes. You sit there and talk when you can feel something and it's that's where it is. So far that love is there not I mean I love you but really I can't say that because that love that we're talking about here isn't this one particular thing you can put your finger on and say "Oh yeah you know I held a festival and 7,000 premies came so thay must love me right?" Wrong (No, No, Bolie Shri Satgurudev Maharaj Ki Jai) you know and and because because all the premies are here that's why I'm here. No that's not the way it works. Because there is an inspiration. There is that love that is interconnected between us. That's what inspires me to give satsang to you. That's all. It's not as if I have to say something. Oh yeah I've got a lot to say and yet I've got nothing to say. What can I say and my experiencing manifesting inside of me and that love manifesting inside of me is what inspires me to come here and to give satsang you know and it's that love, it's that thing that comes when you're a devotee. I mean I don't care you know it isn't like I love you because you're such a nice folks. No. I don't care if you're a nice folks or if you're a bad folks you know. That's not the reason or because you're so nice and quiet. No. Not quite particularly quiet right now you know. Why? Because you're premies, you wanna be devotees. There is something within inside of you that has that love that wants to flow out and when that is kindled, when that's light it and then something truly manifests between a devotee and their Guru Maharaj Ji individually for everyone of us.

No, because the dancing comes from that inspiration within inside of me that wants to make me dance or wants to make me sing or wants to make me smile or wants to make me laugh you know because so far there is that inner connection between you and me then something will manifest for you and something will manifest for me.
Then there can be that love for everyone of us in this in this hall. For every devotee there can be that link to their Guru Maharaj Ji in which they can love their Guru Maharaj Ji and their Guru Maharaj Ji can love them you know understood. Not not ever have to be described. Not ever have to be said vocally because this is so you know it's so strange sometimes. You sit there and talk when you can feel something and it's that's where it is. So far that love is there not I mean I love you but really I can't say that because that love that we're talking about here isn't this one particular thing you can put your finger on and say "Oh yeah you know I held a festival and 7,000 premies came so thay must love me right?" Wrong (No, No, Bolie Shri Satgurudev Maharaj Ki Jai) you know and and because because all the premies are here that's why I'm here. No that's not the way it works. Because there is an inspiration. There is that love that is interconnected between us. That's what inspires me to give satsang to you. That's all. It's not as if I have to say something. Oh yeah I've got a lot to say and yet I've got nothing to say. What can I say and my experiencing manifesting inside of me and that love manifesting inside of me is what inspires me to come here and to give satsang you know and it's that love, it's that thing that comes when you're a devotee. I mean I don't care you know it isn't like I love you because you're such a nice folks. No. I don't care if you're a nice folks or if you're a bad folks you know. That's not the reason or because you're so nice and quiet. No. Not quite particularly quiet right now you know. Why? Because you're premies, you wanna be devotees. There is something within inside of you that has that love that wants to flow out and when that is kindled, when that's light it and then something truly manifests between a devotee and their Guru Maharaj Ji individually for everyone of us.

But anyway, you know, again, surrender, have that faith in Guru Maharaj Ji. What else you gonna do? Nothing. You have to have that faith in Guru Maharaj Ji, You have to have to
have that surrender. And so, I hope I'll be seeing you soon, you know, I really want to see propagation happening and that's something that everyone of you gotta get into is propagation, that's what
we all gotta do is propagation. Not sit there and have donuts and coffee every morning. Some mornings, get out there, have some satsang, you know and you know get those communities together so people
can come and people can hear satsang and and and and you know there can be a place where there can be those ashrams, can be a place where there can be those, don't go out and get a hall, you know,
buy a hall. No, get some propagation going so you use the hall, then you can rent a hall, you know or whatever it takes to get a hall, whatever it takes. But I'd really like to see some propagation
happening. America has been a little sleepy, believe it or not, America has been sleepy. Ha ha, stars and stripes, stripes are getting a little squiggly and stars are doing a thing a little bit, but
you guys gotta wake up, you know, start that propagation and when that's you gotta carry Guru Maharaj Ji's word for it. That's, that's one of the things a devotee does, believe it or not.
What you gotta hide about? What? You know, what is it, what is it that you're shy about? About Guru Maharaj Ji? Why, you, you don't you have faith in Guru Maharaj Ji? Don't you believe in Guru Maharaj Ji? Don't you believe in Knowledge? We all sit down in our homes, you know, like (puts hand over mouth to muffle voice) Guru Maharaj Ji, Knowledge. Why? Because you see this is our problem we think the world is right and we are wrong. Isn't it? The tropical guilty syndrome, you know (puts hand over mouth to muffle voice) we can't talk about Guru Maharaj Ji (laughter from crowd) No. Don't you understand the world is wrong, always has been always will be? What did, you know, what did Jesus say to his devotees when he had given them Knowledge? "Congratulations, you just have received the Knowledge, the ultimate thing in your life. Now you may go back home and relax while I continue this good work." You know. No! He just, he didn't just say, "Give me a donkey and whole bunch of palm leaves and I'll go all over the place and you guys, just relax here, don't hurt yourself, don't bother about it." (laughter) No he said, "Go, spread the word. Get going." you know and that is the way it is, We've gotta spread that word because sitting at home and going (puts hand over mouth) like this isn't going to do anybody any good but don't you know everybody in this world needs Knowledge? When you understand that, it's a simple fact, just like you did. There's a lot of people in this world just like you, maybe they even look like you, you know. Sometimes that happens, I see people, you know, they look like each other. You think they're the same people.
I don't know, I don't know why sometimes we get so shy. Why? You afraid of Knowledge? You afraid about telling people about how wonderful the Knowledge is? Don't you have an experience, you know, why not? I mean you have experienced it, it is the truth, it is what world is waiting for, you know and I mean this I don't expect you to all go out there and change the world tomorrow like that. I don't. But at least if you were, if you were successful at changing that one life of that one person, bring him to the, bring him to Guru Maharaj Ji … and that's an incredible feeling, it's an incredible, incredible feeling. Look at it this way, the press has come out and said everything that you can think about that could be negative. What are we gonna do? Go back to the press and tell them you should put out some positive things . Will they? You can go to a lion and get yourself killed but you can't go back to a lion and put yourself back together again, you know, you can go to lion and get your hand bitten off but you can't go to the lion and say "Please sew this on again." It just doesn't happen, does it?
It's the same thing because they don't know, they don't understand, like I said, if you received peace and are happy their attitude is "Tough luck, kid." To them that doesn't exist, "Are you kidding 'em, peace, happiness, in a world as miserable as that?" I mean people have tried. I mean, some people have really tried to come here and we've let 'em come to the progams, they have very objectively looked at us and written a good story till it goes back to the editor who takes it and says, "Come on man let's make it this interesting and this and this and this and this and this and this." Who's gonna spread the word? Who's gonna spread the word? What are we relying on? Radios? Do you remember anything you hear on radios? You know. I mean, look at it, you know, sometimes you see the television commercials and sometimes those television commercials are so ridiculous that by the time you end up looking at them you have a good feeling in your heart that anybody who'd believe that commercial is a klutz. You know, is, is a complete fool, is a complete idiot. No, what we noo, there's, there's only one way Knowledge gets spread time after time and there's no I mean technology that's just gonna alter and that's one to one. Cause people see your experience manifesting. People see, "Yeah!" People feel that experience manifesting, you know and that's what we, we gotta, we've gotta propagate, ha, Knowledge. Ha. We've gotta propagate, we've gotta tell people about this truth in this age, in this time, you know. And so if you've recently had nothing to do, here is a lot and so premies, it's wonderful, it's wonderful to know how simple it is really. You've gotta bother about nothing and sometimes everything will bother about you but you don't have to bother about anything, you know, just let go, have that faith, surrender, have that love for Guru Maharaj Ji, Guru Maharaj Ji has that love for you and it's an endless, endless train ride. Never ends, just goes on and on. Who wants it to end, anyway.
